Sitting at home out here in the Midwest, just looking at the weather radar it appears the games scheduled for today won't be played. If so, in order to qualify for the playoffs Rochester would need to make up the 2 games lost to weather against Skidmore. You need 20 games to qualify for the playoffs (and a minimum of 4th place). The league reverts to your earliest canceled games for make ups. What happens after that, I don't know. Given the distances and finals week, this might be a hard task. However, unless UR rights their ship, we won't need to worry about it! If we manage to play 2 today then the 4 games next week would give UR the minimum games needed.

Are you the Liberty League commish? Other than that you have no idea. Rochester chose not to make up their games (their softball team played today at RPI, but their baseball team didn't at Vassar).  They will not make up the missing games.  Those games are NOW GONE. And where is the 20-game rule? With RIT coming into the conference next year, it might be time for UR to stick with its UAA buddies.

Just reviewed the coaching salaries at Plattsburgh. Very interesting, women's hockey checks in at No 1, followed by men's hockey, men's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, women's soccer, track and field, softball, lacrosse and baseball.

I can't believe women's hockey was atop the list, comfortably I might add.

Wish there was a total budget search tool for the SUNYAC. There probably is. Anyone know where?

OK, seriously, I lost two more karma points for this one?
C'mon people. You're only making me hotter!

I like it, but now it's going to cost me more karma.... like I give an f

To add to what Boomer stated, I talked to my son today and he reinforced what Boomer said, that it was not intentional, they just forgot because they knew they had to play another game right away and usually shake hands after a double header. Nobody thought about it, etc. He realizes it was a mistake and told me they were kind of stunned because of how they lost. My son knows and respects the game and his opponents and did feel bad when he realized how it is perceived. Best of luck to Skidmore; let's hope they make it all the way, because after all, they do represent the Liberty League.

Intentional or not, it's up to the coaches to make sure it gets done.  I'm sorry, but it comes off as classless.  Maybe Rochester should go back to the UAA when RIT comes into the league and then it doesn't matter anymore.

You're a douche bag!!!  Now, bring on the negative karma's, because what I said about you was worth it, classless or not.  P.S., you an idiot also.   ;D

Hey, way to resort to name calling what are you three? No wait, youre a Rochester parent. Thanks for making my point for me.

buck,

Just learned today that Plattsburgh State Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach Cameron Conover has applied for the Skidmore Head Coaching position. Conover has been at Plattsburgh State for the past 5 years assisting Coach Tom Curle and became the associate head coach several years ago. The Cardinals have been one of the top D3 schools in the state during that time winning 4 SUNYAC titles in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2010. They went to the NCAA tourney in each of those seasons and will probably be favored to win the SUNYAC title again this coming season as they return nearly all of their starting lineup. Conover's time spent under Curle's tutelage should prove invaluable and would make him a good fit for this young Skidmore team. He has his masters degree and at 30 or 31 years old he's a candidate that will probably spend a considerable amount of time in his first head coaching position. Skidmore should challenge for the Liberty League title next year as they return most of their rotation. Hope the Thoroughbreds hire a good coach, whoever that turns out to be, but they sure can't go wrong if it ends up being Conover.

How does somebody apply for a job that isn't posted yet?  I have a friend who's also looking at the position and he was told that they were not accepting applications yet.  This will be a highly sought after job.  The former coach has a lot of returning players.   Didn't Curle apply before?  Do you think they want an assistant?

What's with all of the errors in the regional? During the regular season you can make field condition excuses, but Auburn is a great field, set to major league conditions. Outside of the Cortland Triple play the box scores have been full of EEEEEEEs.

I watched all four regional games today.  Rochester should be here!

Coach, you have said some great things here, but that isn't one of them.  Could Rochester have competed. Yes. Did they earn the right to compete. No. They had a chance, but rolled over against Clarkson.  Actually, I bet RPI would have been more competitive, but the NCAA Tournament is about league winners. If you don't win your league then you don't have a reason to complain.

All-conference team is out.

Rochester is the big winner with 11 players selected.

Only thing that stands out to me is Mike Cieszko not getting first or second team all-league. He definitely deserved better than honorable mention.

Who would you have Ciesko replace?  He should have been a starter from day one this year. That may have made a difference in the Red Hawks season.

Hey, good news for RPI: For the first time in a long time, you won't lose a LL Tournament Game!

Smoke on that!

I'm sure they will blame the umpires on not making the tournament.  That seems to be the trend.

Cortland is 31-8-1 so far this season, and played against RIT today. That puts them at 41 games in the record...does the tie not count as a game played and they stay at the limit of 40?

SUNYAC tournament games don't count toward the 40-game total.   Now in the case of Union College....

What happens if a team plays over 40 games (I'm guessing outside of a conference tournament?)  Noticed that Union played 42 games this year.  How would that have affected them in any way if they made the LL tournament? NCAA tournament?

They would not have been eligible for post season. Wonder if the former coach knew how to count?

I went up to watch the game and that was way overplayed. The Umpire threw Mondo out for being out of the dugout and Coach Allard for trying to protect his pitcher. Coach Allard was thrown out for being an assistant coach and being out on the field. It was reported they got thrown out for arguing which was totally wrong, reported by the SID from Skidmore. After the game the RPI kids were upset for losing on a foul ball. I was sitting right behind homeplate and it was foul by at least 10 feet. Obviously they were upset, but not at Skidmore. Skidmore is a real good team.

The kids were talking to each other after the game with no hard feelings. The parents were upset, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Trying to see where this story is coming from, nothing on the Skidmore web site or in the local papers.    That said, I earlier I posted that I liked RPI in the Liberty Tournament. I guess I'm wrong.   Maybe coach Allard should have spent more time coaching and less time getting thrown out.

Being upstate may be great but Auburn's field is awful and there is absolutely nothing around there unless you like maximum security prisons.

That's absurd.  I was there with my son's team a few years ago and was impressed with how hard the field crew and local committee worked to keep the field playable. The city was friendly and everyone was excited to have the tournament there.  Last year was one of the most unfriendly college events I have ever attended.  Nobody outside of the campus had any clue what was going on and even the on-campus employees seemed put off anytime you asked a question.  What does the prison have to do with it anyway? Have you actually been there? Didn't think so.

Very legitimate point.  I don't know how it could be that way either.  Plattsburgh's biggest tests have been in-conference.  I don't know anything about the SOS formula, but it's hard to argue with numbers... they don't usually lie.  Knowing Plattsburgh's schedule definitely makes it hard for me to believe that they have faced a touch schedule, as the numbers suggest.

Please don't use the DIII baseball SOS. It's way off.  The NCAA committee has the real numbers. In some sports (see soccer, basketball) they actually publish the SOS for all region teams.    The NCAA Regional Rankings are the real deal.  They take into consideration everything involved in deciding SOS.  Same for  national rankings you see on this site. It's all based on reputation. Please, when trying to see NCAA committe rankings, they are the ones paying attention and taking the time to sort everything out.

I'd be worried more about RPI. They know how to win in the Liberty Tournament. Rochester has been the biggest bust in tournament play over the past three years.
