I was wondering on the equation regarding % of assists, you subtracted the FGs made by the player, but shouldn't you subtract out the unassisted FGs as well? Thoughts?

Congratulations to Augustana. It was a pleasure to watch you play and to have the opportunity to play against you. I hope you go a long way in the tournament.

There is a lot of discussion on the implementation of a four game tournament. One of the reasons being the student athlete. I don't think anyone is thinking of the student athlete. These young men and women want to play, and to take away that opportunity for one more game, one more shot at a win, to be the spoiler, is a diservice to them. Teams like Olivet, that get hot at the end of the season or teams that have injury problems may need the opportunity the tournament presents. This is a bad idea for our student athletes. It sounds more like a cost savings plan than anything else.

What a sensational game at VanNoord today. Definitely a tale of two halves. There has been discussion of late on the board as to who is Hope's better point guard. I think they are lucky to have to great point guards in Krombeen and Overway. Happily David came out of his slump today and did not get into foul trouble. And I think if you look at the fouls he does get, they come when is going help side. Not because he has slow feet. Colton also had another great game. These two young men give Hope a very quick guard option with two exceptional ball handlers and defenders.

There is a lot of negative being said about the Hope defense and I certainly agree that they need to get back to how they played against Wheaton and Lake Forest, however I don't think this team should be compared to past hope squads defenses based on points allowed alone. This team goes a faster pace than past years allowing more shots per game so it seems only reasonable that points would be higher. I think the better comparison would be point differential.

Hope scrimmaged the Berghorst All Stars. An ever changing group of past players in the area. The group had Marcus VanderHeide, Pete Trammell, Scott Jungling, Chris Nelis and a host of players I can't remember. The play was pretty even through out.

I was in Holland for the super secret scrimmage, but it was a really empty building. I did notice two scouts for Davenport in attendance. The starters looked good, particulary David Krombeen and Will Bowser. The entire team looks to be in excellent shape and the quickness of the team overall is exemplary. As you would expect in a scrimmage, the rotations were varied and unique. Some worked well, others not so well. Two of the new team members up from JV, Colton Overway and Chris Ray, will I think bring very positive minutes to the team. In fact, one of my favoite line ups used a three guard offense that included both Krombeen and Overway. Very smooth. Other than that, there wasn't a lot to see. I don't think Davenport went away with any great inside information. But is was fun to see some Hope basketball. I feel way behind and can't wait for tomorrow night.
