^ Just found the Box Score of the last time the two teams played against each other in 2008.
https://athletics.case.edu/sports/football/stats/2008/wabash/boxscore/1228

Case took the lead with 1:52 left in the 4th quarter, then Wabash overcomes a 4th-15 and proceeds to drill a 52-yard touchdown pass to win the game with 0:48 left ... to advance in the playoffs:

Quote from: phil on March 04, 2025, 07:36:30 PMI was there for all the fun! CWRU beat #1 ETBU, #2 Linfield, #5 Belhaven, and #6 Tufts ... only losing 2-1 to #10 Trine.

The Belhaven game was a wild one - down 10-0 and hitless after three innings, CWRU rallied for a 15-13 win.

CWRU is now ranked #2 in the latest NFCA rankings.

Seriously ... not a bad start to the season defeating #1, #2, #5, and #6 for CWRU...! The roster is stacked this year with so much returning talent.

WOW...that Academic Bowl was a thriller.  There were several key plays in the fourth quarter that could have flipped the game one way or the other.  That was a battle...

Good luck to CMU and the PAC in the playoffs.

Games Notes for CWRU @ WC

Westminster:  https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/sidearm.nextgen.sites/westminstercollegepa.sidearmsports.com/documents/2024/10/22/football-cwr-2024b.pdf

I did not realize how large the Westminster roster is!  130+ players!?

Case Western Reserve: https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/sidearm.nextgen.sites/casewestern.sidearmsports.com/documents/2024/10/22/fb_WES_game_notes24.pdf

Interesting stat ... WC and CWRU statistically have the top two pass defenses in the country.

And WC looks like they are hitting their stride in recent games.

Here's to an entertaining battle this Saturday.

^ Relatedly -- I am most excited about the CMU @ W&J.

This is probably the D3 Game of the Week.

I suppose enjoy these games before they are gone...

^ Oh yes, agreed Pat ... the first three weeks have been a bit lopsided.  Even more on an eye-opener now with 4 in the top 6:

The first time any of the four teams play each other is ... this Saturday!

A bit of a fun snapshot in time for the PAC's BIG 4: https://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/d3/current/team/22

All four are clocking in the Top 10 in the country for Total Defense at the moment.

Great local coverage and quotes from the CWRU game ... and cool photo of RB #22 Mitchell Waite after a TD in front of a large home crowd:  https://www.news-herald.com/2024/09/15/case-football-rolls-over-bethany/

It was also said 25 recruits and their families were in attendance for the night game.

The looming big four matchups...Case Western Reserve, Carnegie Mellon, Washington & Jefferson, and Grove City...are looking increasingly interesting.

Westminster looks to have struggled with Waynesburg a bit...but it could have been more of a Week 1 figuring it out.

More news:  https://www.observer-reporter.com/sports/college_sports/2024/sep/09/carnegie-mellon-bolting-from-pac-again/

CWRU joined CMU in 2014 back into the PAC...I am now wondering if they will follow them out of the PAC...

Remember there is even the deeper connection with CMU with the UAA, and also includes Centennial's JHU being a founding member.

With nearby JCU joining the NCAC, that is another strong connection for CWRU.

In a nutshell, I would be surprised if CWRU stays in the PAC now.
