So that you all know, I am a former AAU coach of Lori's. I am bias to Lori's ability. I enjoy posting on this forum and try to stay positive. So now, whenever I decide to post again, everyone will know that Coach Al is Hoops4lfe.

For Mr. Coleman .......
Lidlow's Dad, nope. Sorry about that. Wasn't at the game and don't know who guarded who. Any time Eastern beats DeSales, its a big win for Eastern. From the box score, the Eastern guard had a monster game. Congratulations to her. Also, from the box score, Lidlow only played for 19 mins. Not sure why. Maybe foul trouble ? My previous comments were only based upon the games that I have been at. Will have to make an effort to get to the game, the next time DeSales and Eastern meet up. Looking forward to the remainder of the season and to see what insighful comments Mr. Coleman has in his future posts. Maybe Mr. Coleman should make an effort to see our Mac girls play sometime in the future ? GO MAC Basketball !

Good game at DeSales yesterday. DeSales turned the ball over too much to come away with a win. Turnovers have been a problem all year. DeSales bigs allowed 16 offensive rebounds and allowed the big men from Baruch to shoot 55% from the field. Post defense and rebounding have been a problem all year. DeSales bigs also have a hard time finishing around the rim. The overall guard play needs to improve. Although, Lidlow has been a shut down defender all year long.

The difficult schedule that DeSales has played so far this year, should have prepared them well for the remainder of conference play. Looking forward to seeing the team compete during the remainder of the season.

Tim,

Thanks for the answer. So the SID's vote for the players of the week. Does the same apply for the end of the year All Conference Teams ?

My post was specifically about the Atheletes of the week at each of the schools. However, I appreciate your feedback.

Lebanon Valley is sure to shine this year, considering that they do not play against any strong teams. Messiah not the same Messiah team of the past.

On another topic. Does anyone know the process for the schools to select thier atheletes of the week ? Seems as though some of the schools select the same player every week. Do coaches select, is there a committee that selects ? Just wondering.

Took in the Kean/DSU game. DSU had trouble when Kean switched to a full court press. The defensive switch turned the entire game around. Kean was able to force turnovers that lead to easy baskets. DSU bigs missed way too many open layups and couldn't rebound the ball when it mattered. Kean took the lead on the last shot of the game because DSU couldn't hold onto the rebound. Lidlow was clutch at the free throw line to send the game into overtime. Standing at the line by herself, with the game on the line. What pressure shots. DSU did not keep up the intensity in overtime and left the 3pt shooter open. Overall, was a great game to watch.

Looking forward to the rest of the season.

I wasn't complaining. Just stating my opinion. Looking forward to reading your stories for the remainder of the season. The student athletes deserve all the credit in the world. Without thier commitment in the class room and on the court, we wouldn't have a forum that provides us the opportunity to voice our opinion.

Good luck to DSU the remainder of the season !

BJ DSU SID --
Thanks for replying. I can't disagree with you more about the box score telling the story. First and foremost, the statistics are only as good as the person recording them. Secondly, how can you gauge a players performance on defense by looking at the box score ? Having a good game is not only about the number of points scored in a game or the number of rebounds in the game. If a player has a good rebounding game or scores well, but doesn't play any defense, is that considered a good game ? If a player has a poor shooting night, but defends exceptionally well, did that player have a poor game ? If a player shoots 25% form the field, but gets to the foul line, is that a poor game ? Your story states that a player led the team in scoring, but only shot 5/18. Are you saying that she had a bad game ? Your story also stated that another player had a good game, with 8 points and 10 rebounds. Did she play good defense or keep the other team off the glass ? The box score doesn't tell the story. Not nearly as much as the person writing it.

I was at the game as well. I thought that DeSales defended very well and that #40 did a great job on #25. I agree that the score was alot closer, because of the DeSales turnovers. DeSales did a great job rebounding from a poor game the night before.
Was a bit surprised by the article that was written by the DSU SID about the Ursinus game. I have never seen such a negative article written by an SID about his own team.
Also attended the LVC/BC game on Saturday. BC not much of a challenge for LVC. It is hard to gauge how good LVC will be, based upon the quality of the teams that they have played so far. You would think that the LVC coach would want to challenge his team a bit more.

I guess that we will see how good FDU is, when they play against Stevens this weekend.

It won't be long now. Scrimmages have begun and the start of the season is getting closer. There are some good early season matches. Scranton is at the DeSales tournament, along with Ursinus and William Patterson. Del Val plays Moravian early on. Looking forward to a very exciting season !

Messiah also has an extremely difficult schedule. This should prepare them well for the conference championship as well as the NCAA's.

Took a look at all of the posted schedule's. Surprised by LVC's out of conference schedule. Most of the teams have a below 500 record. With an extremely low strength of schedule last year (240), they were lucky to get an at large bid to the NCAA's. Thier schedule also did not prepare them well for the NCAA's, losing in the 1st round. May have to rely on a conference championship to get an NCAA bid this year. Also, should be interesting to see how losing another assistant coach will affect the team. LVC's assistant from the past two years is now at Manhattanville.
