I've become accustomed to a somewhat non-partisan approach by the Public Address Announcer at most football games, so I was a bit surprised to hear the Greensboro announcer quite audibly say "Stick 'em, boys!" on a Guilford kick-off return.  Is this sort of "homer" instinct normal for a Public Address Announcer or did he inadvertently have his mic on?  lol

That is great!

Happy Memorial Day weekend.

If anyone wants to thank a former USAC player and current hero, feel free to drop major Lowe an email thanking him for his service.

He is representing Greensboro College Football in a forward operating base in the laghman Provence.  It's a very dangerous place and is he is definitely putting in some work.  Lowe is a coaching fanatic and still follows this conference with diligence.

Send your thanks,

They hired young because he is one hellov a coach.

Another interesting change is dethrone as AD.  Both those guys deserved the promotion.  Both are difficult jobs.

My take.

When Kirby stepped down, Bill Young had the entire team pulling for him to be the next head coach.  That didn't happen and Coach Mitch came in and we had two defensive guys.  Mitch was awesome to play for but if I had been the AD I would have brought in an O guy or hand the reigns to Young at that point.

The last hire really killed me.  Zero national search and the program was handed over to a tenured teacher.  After they lost the good high school oc the offense was doomed.

This hire and Coach Young.  Makes sense.  GC's administration...I'll stop here so I dont end up like namath.  Investing in Young makes more sense and then any other hire.  I am shocked that the school pulled it off.

Young will have the kids competing.  No excuses.  He is a great defensive coach.  It will be interesting to see what type of offense they run.

Greensboro should get a win this week.

I played for Greensboro and coached at Guilford so I know first hand how important the game is.  Is it important for the entire student body.  No.  It isn't the big 12 so you aren't going to have every one invested.  The food drive doest do a great job of getting people in that normally wouldn't attend.  While I was at Greensboro I think we won 3 of 4 and what a great feeling to see the quakers in the mall or the beach and know that we kicked that ass.  I even am friends with a few of them and know for a fact that I gave (now a friend of mine) a concussion in the Soup Bowl (not souper bowl) Soup Bowl.  The point being in the USAC there is not a bigger rivalry than this.  More may be on the line for cnu/ ferrum or cnu/ anyone but no game compares to the soup bowl.  Two schools and the same city.  Its about Pride.

Guy former pride.

The Greensboro Guilford Game is a true rivalry.  You wouldn't understand if you never played it.  It is without a doubt the most important games for each year.  I wish it had remained the last game of the schedule for both teams.

You guys aren't focused.  It's rival week!  Last place, third place, the only thing that matters is tearing Guilford apart.

Shouldn't be that hard
