Is it just me or is the video feed from UWSP not working?  It keeps stopping at the same place.

It took a while but eventually it worked. Great win.

Took a bit to watch UWRF beat Platteville.  I was a freshman there in 87, seeing the guys I knew as HOF like Greg Olson and Greg Corning, coach Farley,  was  very nice.

As an alumni player on the field, it was really hard to watch the 2nd half. We had some big boys up front, really big boys. I watched the game from several angles to watch the line play. I saw a lot of crowding by LaX Defenders, they knew what was coming because it was a lot of the same play coming right into the teeth of a very talented and string D. They tried to disguise it but it was usually 8 or 9 in the box when the ball was snapped. Despite that, the Hawks were somewhat productive on the ground. They had a big advantage by halftime, 2nd half was quite different. The total lack of any passing threat made it easy for the LaX D to tighten the screws.
2nd half ineptness got worse and worse with the LaX D shutting everything down. If they pack the box, you MUST throw. We apparently lack any ability to do so. Our QB held the ball far too long and took sacks or was running for his life. Meanwhile #2 for LaX was elusive and excaped many blitzes from unblocked Warhawks time and time again. Then he made ridiculous passes and #88 caught anything in the same zip code. That added up.

That botched punt into our end zone was a bad sign. It woke LaX up. Then we threw a moronic INT, like he lobbed it oh so gently right into the defenders arms that was there the entire time. I was screaming NOOOO as he set that up. The pooch punt was so idiotic. Icing on the cake. What the F was the OC doing there? He needs to explain himself. If they had punted and put LaX down in deep, There was only a couple minutes of clock left and the odds were good we could have won. Nope, we handed them the ball for an easy score instead.

20,000 fans went silent. So shocking that turn of events went. COACHING was to blame for much of this.

Kubiac is right about playing LAX, (we were teamates), as an OL I'd come out of the game with bloody noses and bruised parts that generally don't see contact. The cheap stuff do anything but piss us off.
I still sit in wonder watching the brackets get set up and I know they have all these rules and contingencies, blah, blah, blah. All year long, the same 3 teams sat on the top, NCC, MU, and Cortland, the defending champs. Each went through the season with ease, not once were any challenged. I guess the same with HSU. It simply makes no sense to me that the defending champs from New York are in the same bracket as NCC from Illinois. Everyone in the country knows they are the toughest teams, and none of them should have to travel until the Finals. Put the 4 big boys in the 4 corners and fill in the rest of the teams after that. Nothing against SJU, as they have a long history of success, but they were NOT a Finals team in recent history and should be in NCC bracket, opposite end at least. They wouldn't see NCC for a month.

The comments on the WIAC are pretty accurate in my mind. They had no standout teams in conf this year, all just tough except UWEC. Isn't it true that LAX and UWP also lost key players to injury and were not the same by playoffs time? Depth is great, but losing stars hurts any team's potential.

Quite frankly, this team is not any better than anybody, talent wise. CENITI should be benched. These guys need to figure it out. I'm really not impressed this year.

Then lacrosse loses to uw zero, RF gets thumped. What is happening?? Total pandemonium,  dogs and cats living together.

Idk what was worse about this game. Whitewater losing, or the wartburg camerapeople literally not doing their jobs half the time.
No doubt. How many passes did we hear about but never saw? No replays either? Amateur hour...

Kickers killed us.

Was that last fumble legit? Who knows? No replay could show it.

Defense just couldn't get a stop in the end. Wow.

So much for Leonard staying with Fickell....his resume was great, but he couldn't do it I guess...
Perhaps UWW calls Don Beebe up for a meeting?

Does anyone know, has any WIAC team given up more points in a conference game than than the 73 the Blugolds allowed Stout today?

We've had a couple of losses by larger margins.  1889 106-0 vs UW, 1900 100-0 vs UW.  One that ties, 1984 73-7, vs Northern Iowa and one pretty close, 1976 70-14, vs Northern Michigan.

Every one of those teams are public schools.  Figures.

My God I almost lost my beer reading that!

I feel like I've lost track of this during the basketball season, but believe that was moved to Week 1 a while back.

Yes, UW-W's non-con schedule is:

Sept. 3.     At St. John's
Sept.  10   UMHB
Sept.  17   at Berry

Looking at the rest of the schedule, I dont see the Bluegolds or Falcons on the conference schedule. Is the schedule still being released? seems odd to release a partial schedule.

The fact that these games are scheduled says volumes about all four programs. Much respect!

Wow. The CRU were just rediculous. Those receivers were on another level, as they displayed when we saw them. NCC looked like a copy of UWW, but simply wow is all I can say. The best team won, and if you are gonna lose, lose to the champs.

Outmatched is an understatement. Wow, I don't post very often, I just read the real scuttlebutt from the insiders like Bleed here to see what is going on with the team. Many, many posts here that point out some great thoughts, such as WarhawkDad showing that the regular season stats don't paint a complete picture. Every year the Warhawks suit up and take the field in the playoffs against D3 superstars with numbers that are unbelievable. Those guys leave humbled and defeated. What I see when I watch our team is nobody really stands out as a Captain America, where the team is completely built around. I don't see guys that stand apart from the rest physically like a man among men that should be at Ohio State or something. I see a team that functions excellently as a unit, every guy steps into their roles and performs as expected. The coaching staff is doing a remarkable job with preparation, planning, and teaching. Now, I'm not saying that UWW isn't blessed with outstanding athletes that as a whole, are fantastic, and they can play against anybody. That is nice to have, we know we won't lose the battle up front, and you arent going to outrun us. When I played so many moons ago, the WSUC top teams were big, strong dudes that lost in the playoffs because they lacked speed. Not anymore. These current teams are a pleasure to watch and I'm just so proud to be an alum.

Now, a tough as nails smashmouth contest with a familiar foe awaits. One should never, ever look past them. Somehow Mount survives after being down all game. The defending champs await them, what a game that should be. Mount was finally pushed today, and I don't think NCC has really been challenged all year outside of Wheaton.

That was truly an outstanding game. Looks like a matchup with the Johnnies next. Just impressive game, congrats Warhawks. Keep playing like that and nobody can beat you. Was the oshkosh game a wake up?

I gotta say that locker room facility is absolutely gorgeous. Talk about impressing any recruit walking through. It was so concrete and spartan when we played there, and they were still the class of D3 THEN!

After getting completely soaked in the 2nd qtr, looked at the radar and the saw it was gonna rain all day, the wifey demanded we take it in for the day. Great seeing you Kris, and all the other guys that made it in. And Coach Brez still helping out.

The BIG 10 should be ashamed for letting Rutgers in the conference. Even Maryland coming in was essentially a mistake. These are not midwest schools in any fashion. They would struggle in the MAC in most sports as well. A decent school academically, but they are a disgrace for the conference much like Northwestern was for many decades. However, if Lance gets the job I would have nothing but support for him and his guys, and would enjoy getting to see him on TV more than once a year when a random Buffalo game gets on local TV.

How many D3 coaches go big time, have some success, and get an even better job? It's cool when you actually know the guy and some of his staff.

Local weather here is showing a rather nasty weather system leaving California and hitting Texas on Saturday with heavy rain and/or ice and winds. So much for nice weather...
