Will go down as one of the great games for the championship. Red Dragons congratulations on a terrific win. This was an amazing game to watch. Safe travels home for all who went to Salem. There's a new champ in town!

USEE, that really basically sums it up. All we need now is the game to see who prevails. Hope the weather is not as rainy and that everyone stays healthy before and during the game. Only thing left to say is: Go Cards!

Wow, this is amazing work. Thanks for your effort! I know this far out there are many changes that are likely to happen. One that I saw was Wisconsin Whitewater versus Wheaton as a second round. Reminds me of Mount Union vs North Central in a second round which should have been a championship match. I know that these are sometimes unavoidable in D3 but it seems unfair to both teams.

Agree with TrueGreen, but I also think that Wheaton's and Wash U's probability of winning are higher than predicted.

I just saw the final Top 25 and was generally fine with the Top 8, but personally would have probably have put NCC #1, Mount #2 and UWW #3, St. Johns #4, Muhlenberg #5, Wheaton #6, Delaware Valley #7, and UMHB #8.
1. North Central
2. Mount
3. Whitewater
4. St. John's
5. Wheaton
6. Delaware Valley
7. UMHB
8. John Carroll
9. Muhlenberg
10. Wartburg
Kiko,
I like your top ten, especially Delaware Valley above Muhlenberg. Only John Carroll gives me pause, I might move Muhlenberg there and Salisbury below them and follow with Wartburg. Certainly possible to make cases the other way. The one I think they got right for sure is NCC as #1 and two CCIW schools in the top ten.

We had the honor of attending the D3 semi-final match-up last Saturday in Allentown, PA featuring the Mules of Muhlenberg (who knew Colby wasn't the only "Mule" out there!) against North Central from Illinois...We attended out of curiosity and because we know/recruited several student-athletes from North NJ who currently play for Muhlenberg...
In case you missed it, North Central pretty much destroyed Muhlenberg....the game was over at half-time...Muhlenberg, which had one of the top D3 defenses in the country, could not contain the North Central offense....on both sides of the ball, North Central's line dominated the Mules...
Our very unscientific assessment....any and all teams in the NESCAC would get pasted by North Central (from what we understand, their roster is full of D1 MAC conference transfers and rejects...based on size and skill, we believe it)....however, we think the upper echelon of the NESCAC from 2019 (MID, Wes, TTUN) would give Muhlenberg a run for their money and we would give them a shot at a win...I've been saying for a long-time that the Centennial League is very comparable to the NESCAC and we continue to believe that after watching Muhlenberg play in person on Saturday...btw, for the record, Muhlenberg could definitely use some NESCAC lessons on how to tailgate!
Here is a good barometer North Central acceptance rate = 60% and Muhlenberg = 48%
Average Nescac acceptance rate = 18%
Very telling IMHO
Latest US News and World Report shows Muhlenberg's acceptance rate at 62%, NCC at 56%. We are proud of our students, in fact one of our math graduates is a professor at Williams. Also, our football team has a higher GPA than the average for the student body. Every time we win a game in playoffs, I hear just this kind of nonsense being thrown around. Do a little digging, you'll find we have a good academic program, along with a great football team.

Toby,
What is the best airport to fly into? Thank you for your response in advance.
Might not make it. Depends on this weekend. These are going to be two tough close games. The final should be epic in any case.
Thanks again.

Based on the layout of the bracket I'd assumed NCC would host. We shall see!

Updated bracket shows it in Naperville. And the 2013 game with Bethel was a quarter final, NCC lost the semifinal game to Mount Union 41 - 40.

Projected bracket:
http://www.d3football.com/playoffs/2018/final-playoff-projection
I'll bump this and note that our projected final regional rankings are now available there so that you all can see the data we worked with to get where we got.
Thanks Wally.
With this data...
1 Mount Union 10-0, .534, 1-0
2 North Central (Ill.) 9-1, .542, 1-1
3 John Carroll 9-1, .538, 0-1
4 Trine 10-0, .506, 0-0
5 Wabash 9-1, .481, 1-0
6 Wittenberg 9-1, .504, 0-1
7 Illinois Wesleyan 8-2, .555, 2-2
8 Wheaton (Ill.) 8-2, .558, 2-2
9 Washington U. 8-2, .552, 1-2
10 Denison 8-2, .497, 1-1
...I'm curious how you guys landed on the order of Wabash, Witt, IWU.
It seems to me like IWU has the best resume of those 3.
How is NCC not ranked 2 - 1 in RRO given wins over IWU and Wash U?

NCC, if they win the first round (which they should), will host in the second round no matter if it is Bethel or Wartburg. Just as St. Johns above, who will also host any second round game. They didn't place the second team in the bracket in the bottom slot this time.
