Since Northwestern and Wheaton are like-minded , I'd like to propose a swap of names.

Northwestern wants to become a university and due to some other lesser known Northwestern in the Chicago area, a name change is going to be necessary.  You Wheaties don't seem entirely happy with a thunderstruck elephant.

Northwestern will trade our nickname the "Eagles" along with our giant golden eagle statue  and "Screech the Eagle" for the "Wheaton" name.

We'd also cease control of any future Billy Graham naming rights since our new student center "the Billy" has just been completed.  Perhaps you'd like to call yourself Graham university or something of the sort.

... at which point I will cease calling them the Sonic Atmospheric Disturbance and will commence calling them the Crackers. ;)

Would that cause confusion between home courts if the Crackers weren't playing the in the crackerjack box?  ;D  ;)

Wow - talk about burning your bridges!  I doubt she'll be welcomed at any reunions. :P
It is hard to believe a SENIOR with one last shot at a title, would not choose to postpone the trip and play the game. Some day she will regret it and you're right, she definitely won't be welcome at any reunions(unless they win) :) ;)

If they made it to the final 4, would she even be welcomed back to the team?

I am more of a lurker on the basketball boards. Usually hang out on the football boards.

But here is the preview from Wooster's website

Congratulations to those CCIW players who made the d3 all-region team!  I'd be even more sincere if a Titan (9-2) made the first OR second team.  ONE Titan on the third team?!

Congratulations to Ryan Jenkins, but it is a bit of a joke when ONE player off a 9-2 playoff team makes the THIRD team all-region.  Man, I guess they really played over their heads!  A presumed 2-8 team gone and went 9-1! :P

(My apologies, Pat, but how the hell could this happen?  Were they SO balanced that 21 players would have made the fourth team?  This just defies common sense.)

Agreed on the congrats to everyone. Meador had a great year.

I don't understand how Jenkins is on the 3rd team and Gresko is MIA all together.

And to Pat's point, 4 first team CCIW players probably translates to more than 1 All-Region guy on the 3rd team.

Was Chris Peterson doing this voting? Haha

NORTH CENTRAL!!! I think that I've lost count but how many Final Fours and Stagg Bowls has NC been to lately?  It has to be a bunch.

If you are in Naperville, they might try to make you believe they are a top 3 program in the nation and compete on a yearly basis with purple powers. Anywhere else in the world...well, I think that count is still 0.  :o 8-) ;D

Saturday was a tough loss and I'm sorry NCC wasn't able to advance to play Mt Union and possibly in the Stagg Bowl- and represent the CCIW.  I have been on the NCC bandwagon for a while- I actually had the game on the laptop while in the tailgate tent at UWW.  I missed some of the UWW 3rd period to watch the ending, hoping for a NCC defensive stop.  Which brings me to this question.
Did anybody look at the play of the week on the D3 home page?  It's the two-point conversion.  I'm curious to know whether you feel NCC was in a Man or Zone coverage, or some combination.  The NCC safety, #17, doesn't play the slot receiver like the other two defenders play their "man".  Considering how close the ball was to the goal line, that slot receiver was wide open.

I think 1 of 2 things could have happened. Either the safety was misaligned in man coverage since he was 6-7 yards deep in the end zone OR the LB got too occupied with jamming the inside WR. I think they were playing zone judging from the safety's steps as well as the other LBs steps. It looks like the outside backer should have dropped to cover the quick stick/out route of the #2 receiver. Just my 2 cents

Does anyone know if Wabash is putting together any student buses to head for Alliance this weekend?  If I am not mistaken, they have done something like that in the past.  Maybe in 2002?

Another note:

1st -  the week and a half leading up to the Bell Game -  work production dropped to 50%

2nd -  the week leading up to Illinois College - work production rose to 70%

3rd -  the week leading up to N. Central game - work production dropped to a low of 40%

4th -  This week uuughhh!

If I didn't work for myself,  I would fire me.  ;)  Maybe I still will.  :o

Sounds like you are an awesome boss. Are you by chance hiring?  8-)

What a game on Saturday. Unfortunately, I missed it to attend the MSU-NU game on Saturday. But, got updates as the seconds wound down. Congrats to NCC on a solid season. I know it is not the result that you were hoping for, but that program is well on its way to being a mainstay in the top 5 of DIII for a long time. Question...is this senior class the winningest class in NCC history?

Congrats to Wabash. Good luck against the Mount. I am glad you guys got the tight game comeback win after getting one of those playoff losses 2 years ago.

I really expected a tight game like this all week leading up to the game. Wabash is always one tough @$$ team with some tough dudes. They don't lay down, give up, and keep hitting. At the same time, the Redbird Machine has a way of continuing to churn week after week. NCC is right on the edge of that purple-ness I think. However, they need to be more disciplined. You can't have personal fouls in a game of that magnitude. I believe that come next August, NCC will again be found at the top of the preseason polls and they will make their way through the CCIW with a giant chip on their shoulder until December.

Fellow CCIW posters -

Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Enjoy all of the football and turkey you can. Diets are for the new year anyway.

Well, to be fair, we homer for the NCAC, too.

Smeds.... not like that.... You seriously would say a nice thing about Witt Football?   C'mon Man?

Is it noon yet?  I need a drink....

In the playoffs, yeah, I'd root for Witt to represent the NCAC.

I draw the line at Dannie-land though.

It's a no lose situation for me.  I don't lose a wink of sleep when Witt loses, at any time, but if they do happen to win and advance in the playoffs it helps the league a little bit.  I am starting to get nervous about what my feelings will be when Witt and DePauw start playing each other next year.  I can't root for either.  Most likely, next year at least, DePauw winning probably helps Wabash out a little...eww.  I get crawly skin just entertaining that thought.  I don't feel any better pulling for Witt.  Can they both lose somehow?

You don't have to root for either one of them to win, just root for one or the other to lose!  8-)

If you root for both to lose, you win one way or another?

I'm Ron Burgundy?

You're Robert Goulet?
