Cant say this isnt one of the more interesting conferences in D3 this season, I think.

*PS Ralph, I agree with the statement and mostly with the predictions of the season. But would like to add that ETBU feels very confident going into the game against McM. Reasons being, best game of each schedule last season, and I anticipate they will be a few key players down after such a rough opening 3 weeks.

I honestly feel that if UMHB loses 2 in conference....all hell will break loose.

I was unfamiliar with the voting procedures. But for the most part i agree with it being a VERY close season with shakeups every week.

Skeptical of McMurry though (sorry to say it) a great squad but second? Im not sure. I personally feel like our chances are infinitely better knowing they will be coming off 3 straight weeks of getting pummeled. Physically more so than on the scoreboard, but still a possibility for both.

LOVE to see that the voting is so close. Skeptical of the huge margin they placed between 4 and 5. But still excited for the close voting. Should be some BIG games this year.

I would agree. I have read a few articles that do include D2 and D3 in the "Championship Subdivision," catergory.

Hey Ralph, if you want to see McM take on UTSA in the Alamodome, single game tickets are now available here.
Thanks for the link, Ron.

Good seats are only $55.00.   :o

Quite the bargain for D1.   ;)
It's a loss leader to get people to eat on the River Walk. ;)

Shoot.  $45 for TCU-Baylor.  ;D

$45 to get into the Alabama game I have tickets for @ Bryant Denny.

Saw an almost equal number for our opening game opponents too... :'(

DEAL!!!!!!

Saw a few ASC reps on the All-American list....awesome news!

I agree, Fantastic show and series...but they did a pretty good job of setting D3 back a few years for its viewers with the sucker punches. Oh well, misconceptions are life I suppose. Texans dont all wear boots and tackle cows, and D3 isnt bush league crappy, last choice football.

Alright ladies and gents, season is approaching.
Any predictions for the fall? Some of the recruiting classes look impressive....on paper that is.

IMHO its similar to why SRSU isnt great...just arent many recruits out that way that would pick that school. Competing with ACU, WTAMU, TTU, HSU, McM, Angelo St., Tarleton even Midwestern St. and I think anyone would agree that of all those HPU would be the least attractive on all fronts. (Except Tarleton...but at least they are a winning program that has scholarships for athletics.)

But on another note, whos stoked for Kickoff?? August is just over 2 weeks away!!

Men's soccer / Re: World Cup and European leagues

Absolute blasphemy!
Its a bit unfair to compare a game/player that (essentially) only played in one country vs a group of individuals that were not only great athletes but they beat the WORLD with their talents.
Im not saying Barry was not GREAT but the truth is he only beat 31 teams with his talents. AND without an OL he would have been somewhat lesser.
Maradona is said to have led his team to qualify for and win at least one WORLD CUP by himself. And Pele arguably did the same. Both put thier respective countries on the permanent global map and both are recognizable names WORLDWIDE.....Barry Sanders only won 1 playoff game in his CAREER and in the only other one he played in he recorded less than 75 yards rushing. Hardly capable of mentioning in the same breath as Maradona and Pele.

However, if there was revenue and a national following and enjoyment of the sport from birth soccer in America would explode and rival the EPL in skill and worldwide success...Possibly even surpass it with our much larger stadiums and deeper pockets. 20-30 more years I think.

I really like how frank took this conversation and I hate to do this now.

But do the 2 Kentucky schools that are applying for D3 play into the new SCAC? Somewhat geographically sensible? I know nothing about them academically though.
