Can't practice or travel with team. Has expectation of being on team when year off is done. I understand he had knee issues, but I can't imagine you can red-shirt a season during which you have to sit out.

No, you can practice when the team when you have to sit out.  Greyshirting is different... effectively, Manor got what amounts to a redshirt year without it actually being called that.

It's similar to what Jerrel Harris is having to do at D-II St. Leo after following Turncoat Randall (all NCAA athletes have to sit out if transferring "up" from III to II or I, "up" from II to I, or laterally from II to II or I to I.  No NCAA rule for III to III... but some conferences, like the WIAC do have such a rule for people like Manor who transfer within the conference.  Thus, Harris doesn't lose the year of eligibility, can practice with the team, but can't participate or dress for any games.

Interestingly, Marcus Ruh did not have to sit out... b/c his head coach retired.  There's an NCAA rule that you don't have to sit out when transferring if your head coach leaves, so he can play right away at St. Leo.

Not true- you can go D3 to D2 and not sit out. Just need a release. Both Ruh and Harris had one. (Had nothing to do with Gibbons not being there for Ruh.) For Harris it has to do with academics and WIAC rules, even though went to D2. (Read NCAA transfer rules if not sure , and then go to conference trransfer rules)

BTW- Before calling Randall turncoat you might want to find out all the facts associated with your current coach "withdrawing" from UWGB consideration and broken commitments.
