I think if BW wins both, Berg ends up 5th, if they split Berg is 3rd, ONU is 4th.

This is going to be a fun finish to the season. Berg and BW deadlocked at 9-7 for the last spot in the OAC tourney. BW holds the tiebreaker due to H2H, but Berg has Cap to finish up. BW is sitting there with a sweep of JCU between them and the #4 spot. A little rivalry DH with the postseason on the line!
As a side note, before the season I mentioned that there is very little difference between a lot of these teams. Ott is in pole position to win the regular season. BW has a decent chance of missing the OAC tourney completely. Let me tell you having watched them play each other there is not a lot of difference between the two. BW could have just as easily swept Ott. The Jackets are a good ball club.
Bet you never dreamed Wilmington would sweep ONU and create a potential 3 way tie for 3-4-5 positions!

Tournament field pretty close to set after yesterday. A 3 game gap with only 4 to play between 4th place and the rest of the field.
Seems only way OAC gets 2 teams to regionals is if someone upsets Marietta in the OAC Tournament. Otterbein's SOS is very weak which won't help them in national comparisons. Of course they've done very well against Marietta in the conference tournament in recent years.

April 15, 2016, 10:55:30 PMQuote from: Sir Battlescars on April 15, 2016, 12:42:47 PMNo team in the OAC has a chance to win a regional unless they have some incredible improvement in pitching. And there won't be an at large bid either with the records this year so it's only going to be the winner of the conference tournament even getting to a regional.
Interesting year so far, this definitely seems to be a down year for the Conference. Does anyone have the pitching to make it out the first weekend of the playoffs?

You guys seem to have underestimated Berg. Beating JCU 10-0
Games are more than 11 minutes long, too, though. We'll see how it finishes.
Too bad for Heidelberg that the game wasn't called after 10 minutes, would've been a nice win for them. Are they the Student Princes, the Berg, or another nickname now?
Wish I had everybody's hindsight. Was only making the point that several people felt JCU would dominate them again. Never said that was how the game would end.
They are still the Student Princes. It's you sMUg people who come up with other nicknames for them.
Actually, motorman, for a couple of years Heidelberg insisted people call its athletic teams "The Berg" -- that was not some Mount Union fan being smug. It was reality and part of the history of the department.
I knew that without the help, thanks. My son is a 2014 Berg grad. I was talking about "Heidi", "Wilma", and "Etta", not to mention them calling BW "the flaming pile"

Too bad you fans of the purple don't support the baseball team like Dr Acula does so we could make fun of you over there.

sMUgness aside - when you go 0 for a decade (or very close to that) the nicknames sorta make themselves. And I am not a Mount grad.....Hiram College - insert nicknames here!
That's a bunch of crap. Giving almost every other institution of higher learning a diminutive little girls name as a nickname doesn't just happen. It's small minded people who make themselves feel bigger by putting others down. It embarrasses our alma mater to stoop to that. And the nickname on here for BW is even worse.

Similarly, as an 18-23 year old, he is a legal adult and does not need his parents permission or approval to throw.
As a parent I would never attempt to say he couldn't do it but I will not have anything good to say about a coach or program that subjects their kids to that.
I know Ohio State stopped sending kids to play for Butler in the Prospect League in the summer because of overuse issues.
I think it is high time throwing kids that much on short rest is not applauded and be taken off the board as an option for coaches. If the NCAA truly is looking out for the student athlete then this needs to be addressed.
I was very glad that Laroche didn't earn a trip to Appleton as a result of this, but Heidelberg was hardly blameless either throwing Adam Manner 3+ innings in relief the day after pitching a complete game.

Dr, I agree I would prefer not to have to put it in the rules but it seems obvious that's going to have to be done since coaches can't resist the temptation to go for it all at any cost. No kid is going to say he can't do it or he risks the coaches ire and maybe even the disdain of his teammates.
I agree with you about some dads knowing more about the son's mechanics than his coaches but I saw that be ignored first hand last year. I saw a flaw that was costing my son major velocity toward the end of the regular season last year. When the stubborn little brat wouldn't listen to me I attempted to talk to the pitching coach. He listened and told me they would work on it and didn't do a thing about it according to my son after the season ended. So, this past winter the kid spent money on lessons from his pitching coach at home working on the same thing I said was wrong last spring.

Someone should be embarrassed by one of the All Mideast Region team posted here. How a senior for a top ten team who went 7-0 in the regular season then almost threw a no hitter in his only regional start didn't even make 3rd team and a junior who was only 6-3 in the regular season and took both his teams losses in the regional made 2nd team is beyond me. The fact that he was last years regional pitcher of the year shouldn't have mattered in the choices this year but I guess they must have.
