It is sadly an end of an era for the BS Panthers. They are going to be sorely missed in the upper echelons of D3 baseball and best wishes to the players and their families, you will be missed.

For what it is worth the WSP 2014 team was one of the most physically impressive DIII baseball teams I have ever seen. Wisconsin teams are always D3 powerhouse teams and well represented. Baseball playoffs can be cruel. as most of us who have followed the sport know.

I think it is down, SCAC is weak and is the first time I can remember that Trinity has not been ranked in top 25 as well as only TLU in regional rankings.
As we all know it is about getting hot around the playoffs so rankings don't mean anything once regionals start.
Good luck to the SCIAC teams in their conference tournament.

Trinity drops out of the top 25 for the first time that I can remember in the past 10 years.

Ron, etal:
This is interesting and may be OK for Trinity and SWern, but what happens to all of the other SCAC schools? Do they join up with the ASC or ?
This will be a big blow from a competitive point of view for TLU and Centenary.
Travel to SW and Trinity may not be an burden on the SAA schools for 1x per year, but for Trinity and SWrn they will have to travel to the SAA schools at least 3-4 times per year. All of those trips will be at least 10 hour bus rides each way unless sports financing has changed they will not be flying the baseball team.
Overall it should be positive for competition for Trinity and SWern and likely more interesting for the student-athletes and if BSC stays solvent (and even if not) the conference championship will be much more difficult, which will be a positive thing.
Will the conference championship move back to Memphis or ?

The lack of picking depth finally caught up with Trinity, but you have to give them a lot of credit to get this far in the playoff's and even making it to the CWS as there are a lot of teams that would have liked to make it this far.
Really a credit to the scrappy nature of the team and the coaching staff.
I will be rooting for LaGrange to move on, but winning two will be a challenge for them tomorrow.

I think Trinity and UT Dallas messed up and thought it was a football playoff and sent the wrong teams....

If I remember Trinity can't host since they don't have a press box.
The inside joke in Trinity recruiting was Coach Fregosi* telling recruits they would play in the new stadium....ha ha ha ha ha...
* recruiting coach who recruited the CWS team...still waiting coach

Minnesota is hosting two regionals just over an hour apart. I am hoping to catch a game or two at each venue this weekend (while working around my own baseball coaching schedule).
Hopefully you didn't spend any time watching Trinity give up 33 hits and 25 runs (all but 3 earned) on their way to a two-and-BBQ performance at St. Paul. Not sure what happened towards the end of the season but whether it was better competition or something else they ended up losing six of nine despite scoring nearly nine runs per game during that period. Pitching hasn't been a strong point this season and the trend continued this weekend.
Good luck to the remaining West Region teams.
Pitching and defense along with some timely hitting win tournaments. Trinity had neither good defense nor good pitching all year and that was exposed during their conference tournament (they lost) and regional. They had a couple of guys who could swing it, but that is not going to work giving up 25 runs over two games. I only watched a few innings here and there during the season but I was a bit skeptical of their high ranking by what I saw. Obviously the COVID year prevented many of the top national teams to get out of conference games which hurt the ability of observers (coaches voting) to get a real read on all of the programs. Best of luck to the teams moving on the CWS, and looking forward to a full non COVID influenced season next year. Competition should he high given the pool of talent carrying over into next year so the best teams should be able to attract D1 level pitching, which should make for an interesting year next year.

With only 3 teams currently scheduled,
it will be much easier to make it into season ending SCIAC tournament.
Especially if they take the top 4 like they normally do.![]()

Trinity beats TLU in game 1 of the SCAC championship 9 - 3 to force final winner take all game 2. TLU still has the edge in pitching depth but Trinity got 8 innings out of starter Arjun Thakar which should even up the pitching match up a bit.

I would think that both TLU and Trinity should qualify for a regional spot based on previous rankings.

Got to hand it to Schreiner this year, a very small school beating nationally ranked TLU and almost beating nationally ranked Trinity last week. Congrats to them.

If both Trinity and TLU make it to the SCAC championship game they both should make a regional, which is good to see.
If Chapman wins SCIAC it might be tough to see two SCIAC teams in regionals.
NW conf ....smh

I had lots of friends at the game but could not make it this year. I watched some of it on the video feed and love their new three camera webcast, quality announcers. Top shelf. Cortland is a young team but look very talented and I would expect them to be in the mix later in the season. Trinity has the talent to make another run this year with better pitching and a more seasoned team. Not as much depth as previous teams so as long as injuries don't happen they should again be a favorite coming out of the West. Pretty special seeing TLU, and Trinity ranked in top 10.

Happy New Year to DIII baseball fans.
Wow, what a start for Trinity this year. First series Cortland 3, then BSC 3, mid-week MHB, then Endicott 3, Babson 3, Rochester 3, then midweek Millikin. So much for Regional rankings; it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out at the end of the baseball year.
