Quote from: hopefan on January 03, 2018, 07:12:57 PMneeds alot of work, SLIAC

Many of these schools don't have a budget to hire top-notch play-by-play announcers. Or can't find a student to fill in during the height of semester break.

Eureka, in particular, has evolved from absolutely no video to live, free video streams along with live stats in a span of less than five years.

These schools' athletics staffs do a lot with very little. I guess you can't please everybody.

No recent chatter on Eureka's gym renovation? This is going to be really nice for EC and the SLIAC.

Eureka replaced Robert Morris-Peoria on the schedule with D-I Loyola-Chicago, FWIW.

Quote from: hopefan on April 21, 2015, 05:59:16 PMWow... looks very nice... will we lose the 'balcony' seats at the end of the court? ;D ;D..... These will be the first seat backs in the SLIAC!!!!  Now it's going to be harder than ever to get on the pass list....

The balcony will stay and will connect to the top row of seating. Since the playing floor is being rotated 90 degrees, the balcony will be an even better location to watch the game.

The catwalk going down the middle of the gym was also removed, so the balcony will be continuous instead of being in two sections.

Eureka will get a chance to play Division I Bradley right in its back yard on Dec. 18.

If that's the case - that the officiating crew from Indiana wanted to help the CCIW heavyweight for some reason - then why'd they give Webster the enormous break of not making the turnover call on the in-bounds?

To your second question, that's a good question.  Maybe they didn't see it?  I can't answer it.  I feel like that play looks like a turnover even when it's executed correctly.

To your first question, perhaps it's just a gut feeling of mine.  I guess I'll backpedal just a bit and clarify that I'm not saying the officials actively were trying to hand IWU the game.  But I think it's easy to be influenced by your surroundings, and I will stand by my statement that given the environment, there's just no way that call is made on the home team.

Technically, I'm not a fan of either team, so you could argue I have no dog in the fight.

You can stare at grainy on-demand film for hours, but there is one thing I truly believe: if the roles are reversed, and it's the CCIW heavyweight that is scrambling up the floor, down one in the final seconds at home to the SLIAC AQ in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, there is absolutely no way that foul is called.  I think IWU fans would have a hard time looking at me with a straight face and disagreeing.

Considering how unbelievable the game was up until that point, that's really a shame.

Not sure if this is mentioned anywhere on the last few pages, but Massey Ratings (masseyratings.com) have Illinois Wesleyan ranked #4 in Division III and Webster as #168.  Love that site, there's all kind of fun reports and projections for all three divisions in both men's and women's basketball.

The Titans are a 22-point favorite on their home floor with a 97% win probability.  That being said, I'll still be making my way over to Bloomington hoping for a SLIAC upset tomorrow night.

Quote from: Denny McKinney on February 06, 2014, 05:36:58 PMI hope the FU video feed is better tonite.

I've tried to watch the women's game on two different computers.  I don't think you're going to have much luck.

Quote from: hopefan on February 17, 2013, 02:44:37 PMI really feel EITHER Mac or EC will have a real shot at scoring the 4 over 1 upset....  and Webster-Westmin should be a good 2-3 game.....

I could be mistaken, but I think Eureka gets the #2 seed if they beat MacMurray and get to 12-4.  Assuming Webster beats Principia Monday, there is no in-between for Eureka -- #2 or #5.  Crazy.

The three-way tiebreaker I noted before seemed pretty cut and dry, but this line from the SLIAC website on tiebreakers (http://www.sliac.org/information/Championships/tiebreaker) really seems to make it confusing:

"The tie-breaker process for multi-team ties will always return to head-to-head competition once a team has been eliminated."

What does "eliminated" mean?  Is MacMurray "eliminated" from the tiebreaker equation because it would secure the #3 seed?  Or is Eureka "eliminated" entirely because it would have the worst head-to-head record?

Quote from: ecreddevils on February 10, 2013, 08:27:29 AMEC is in with a win at Prin?

I don't know for sure if this is the case.  If MacMurray beats Eureka on Feb. 19 in Jacksonville, and Webster, Eureka and MacMurray all end up 11-5, the three-way tiebreaker via head-to-head record looks like this:

MacMurray 3-1
Webster 2-2
Eureka 1-3

MacMurray would have split with Webster and swept Eureka, while Webster split with both teams.

If MC, WU and EC all win out until the 19th, I think the MacMurray/Eureka loser is out, and Eureka's win over Spalding is worth zip.  But I could be looking at the tiebreakers wrong.
