Have not posted in a long time and hope all is well. I just read the release of coach Rucks passing. As a former player and coach at EC I always respected what he was able to get out of his players. Prayers to his family and all the Carthage Community.

Sorry I have not been a contributor the last eight days. The Family and I have been battling through various sinus infections and bronchitis illnesses. Tough with a 4 and 2 year old.

Obviously a tough loss for Elmhurst last week but looking forward to the Chicago game. I would say with all the new players the growth from the first non-conference game to the last non-conference game is going to be key going into a tough beginning of the conference schedule.

Good Luck to all this weekend

I don't think his post was one sided at all as I think he pointed out many challenges that EC has to overcome. I believe this league is so well balanced that besides creating opportunities how those 3 or 4 breaks during a game go as well as injuries will really tell the story at the end of the year on who is on top. Each team will have to overcome adversity and how they do that will determine the conference co-champs once again.....

Jaybird...although I like the traditional helmets and uniforms ours were terrible. The numbers were so small on our helmets we looked like a pop warner team. Not too mention they had a thick texture which made them pop off. Being a DT, after every game they needed to be replaced. I could not agree more that today's generation cares more about the look on the field then ever. Thank the boo yahhh network for that.

Order of prediction of finish based upon the recent history..

1.   EC 8-2, 5-2
1.   Wheaton 8-2, 5-2
1.   IWU 8-2, 5-2
1.   Augie 7-3, 5-2
1.  North Central 7-3, 5-2
6.  Carthage 6-4 3-4
6.    Millikin 6-4 3-4
8.    NP 2-8, 0-7

Elmhurst gets automatic bid because I am writing this.

You may want to run the math on your predictions. I think there are 28 possible wins and 28 possible losses in the CCIW schedule. Someone has to lose and someone has to win each game.  :o
Yes I know....just trying to stir the pot a bit.

The poll seems to be similar every year. It really does not matter as we all know. I think Elmhurst unlike in the past now has top of conference talent and depth. For the first time they have graduated enough seniors to develop talent and keep the talent even if they were not playing yet. That being said as Coach Adam mentioned in the chat, this conference is very tough. Injuries play a huge roll also at this level and I would argue even more at division III then other levels. Quality depth is what makes the top 3 to 5 teams in this conference compete every year. It is going to be fun to see how it plays out. Getting wins and staying healthy during the non-conference schedule is going to be key for the eventual champion or as we have seen co-champions.

That being said I look forward to purchasing my back to back champion t shirt.  :D

Good Luck to all this year just not against my Jays.  :P

Bluejays win today 96-0 in Italy.....not joking
Has any American college team that plays one of these European "National" teams ever lost. Those teams are pretty awful and the real point of the trip is to get the extra padded practices and the opportunity to go to Europe (if you can afford it).

Agreed...I think if you have a good number of players going the team bonding aspect probably means more then anything. To go on a trip like that and see such great places....very special.

You cannot blame a guy for taking a job at a Division 1 program. I think it is great for Coach Lester and I am sure all the Alumni can understand that opportunity.

As far as the next coach, I would really like to see them promote from within. The current DC is also the recruiting coordinator. He was the OC under the Journell era and has a ton of experience on both sides of the ball. He has so much day to day contact with all the recruits. He is not only over qualified but a high quality individual as I have been able to get to know him over the years and coached with him on Coach Journell's staff. This I think would also keep the continuity of the current team as well as continue its growth into the future. He gets my vote but I guess we will see what happens.

Unreal! Congrats Scottie!

Congrats to Scottie on the final 4. What a great accomplishment for all the finalist and he is so well deserving to win the award. I am sure the others are exceptional as well and deserving.

Also congrats to the many CCIW players in the All Region Selections. I count 7 Jays that were listed including two first teamers.

Again congrats to the entire conference for their individual recognition on the all-region team

Card Boreds   ;D  ;)  if you are coming out West be sure to check the NWC board for Wildcat11's Game Day feature that will tell you where to meet us   :o  , where to eat, stay, and where to go in the rain because YOU'RE SIDE OF THE FIELD IS NOT COVERED!
very rarely do I stick up for my red bird friends but the covered comment in all caps is meant to what...scare them? I'm pretty sure it's rained in Naperville before and nobody melted. Lol.

Looks like based on this information turnover margin is going to be huge yet again. The Jays need to force turnovers and take advantage. I cant wait until Saturday.

Thanks Coo Coo! I think the adjustments on the defensive side of the ball were key. They were able to get some stops in that second half. Also the couple 4th down conversions including the one touchdown on the 99 yard drive was huge. Great game Coo Coo, it would be fun to do it again next year.
