In the last 14 meetings between the two teams in WW Superior is 2-12 by an average score of 80-67.  One win in 2004-05 and one in 2010-11.

I like our odds.  ;)

I'm not saying we will win, I'm just saying more recently we have at least been more competitive down there. I definitely would prefer the odds to be flipped around :D

I agree that location is key for the Jackets come playoff time. We always have struggled at Point, and I would be shocked if Superior could pull off a win there this year. As for Whitewater, in recent years they have actually played decently, including an OT semifinal loss in 2008 and beating them there in the semifinals last year. Quandt seems to be the only place where I don't have much hope for a victory.

I don't know if I felt "doom" so to speak, but you could definitely feel the momentum changing, and very swiftly at that. Manor couldn't be stopped and he pretty much willed the Falcons back on his own from 9 down and 2-3 minutes left. We could have sealed the deal if we had made our freebies, but it's not the Superior way to make it easy on ourselves. Byrne missed 1, Davis missed at least 1, Bauer missed 1 and those all in the last minute to two minutes of the game. There were probably other missed FT's late that I can't recall because I was so busy screaming frustration into my hands. We did hit some huge 3's to counter some big shots RF was making late in the game. Kudos to Aalfs for stepping up and making plays once again. Credit has to go to the Jackets though for getting a big home W against a top league team. It's clear that Siverling is doing a remarkable job with this team so far, I'm hoping he can keep their focus up as school starts up again next week.

I'm never all that confident when we're playing in the Kolf Center.  There's just something about that place.

The answer to the question of whether a team has ever gone without a win in conference play is yes.  Checking the all time standings dating back to the 1967-68 season shows that it's happened three times.  All  three conference winless seasons belong to Superior most recently in the 2005-06 season.  The other two times were 1984-85 and 1989-90.  There have been ten times when a team has only won once and fifteen times in which the last place team recorded just two wins.  Unfortunately for the Yellow Jackets they show up quite a few times in those numbers as well.

You bring up a point that I'm sure no one here thinks about much, but I do. With the poor history and tradition that UWS has for basketball, it has been pretty encouraging to see how they have started to turn things around in the past 4-5 years. In the Hill/Smith/Culy/Roeder era they made 3 appearances in the conference semi-finals. The last 4 years they were exactly .500, which compared to the rest of the league isn't great, but compared to their history I'm sure is a solid improvement showing, showing some consistency to winning more. Between Hill, Smith and Culy, the three were all in the top 10 for all-time scoring at UWS, as well setting other school and WIAC records. Now we look at this year, and Siverling has a team that lost 4 starters and had very little meaningful experience outside of Aalfs and Ritchie, and he has the Yellowjackets in 4th place! Granted the league is down this year, but I just am so happy to see that the program is going in the right direction and hopefully they can continue to improve and stay consistent. I'm glad you posted about UWS having the only 3 winless conference seasons, it gave me a great excuse to go on a rant for you all :D :D :D
