The only thing worse than Point's first half tonight are the camera angles on Platteville's live stream.  Are you kidding me??  ...

No, I think it was Point's first half.

And, you're a fan of who??

It's "of whom", and I'm a fan of good basketball.  I graduated from Platteville but their offensive play frustrates me so much that I can barely watch them play.  I thought Point should have sped up their play especially in the last ten minutes but Platteville's defense/rebounding overcame its own offensive woes to hold on for the win.  My "magic" number for a lead in college is nine points.  Stay nine and above for most of the game (as Platteville did for most of the second half) and you're golden.  Under nine and with the three point shot, a team can "steal" a game up to the last minute.  Point had several threes late that I thought might carry them but the Platteville lead was just too much.  Also, twenty more free throw attempts by Platteville was the obvious killer for Point.

That's what this board is missing, the grammar police.

Point has always played a slower, methodical pace under Semling where it values the basketball and getting good looks each possession.  Point isn't ever going to speed it up unless the other team is dictating the pace.  I'll concede to Semling on style of play, pretty sure he knows plenty.

Point didn't hit shots, didn't rebound and Heuer was dreadful...and that is more than enough to lose your first game in conference.  I'm still extremely confident knowing that playing in Quandt during the conference tournament with a bid on the line is another animal.

I'll concede the G.P. point.  And I don't disagree with your analysis of the the FG/FT shooting and rebounding discrepancies.  I just thought that for Point to get back in the game with 7-8 minutes to play, they needed to show a greater sense of urgency.  I figured the game might come back to them late if they could have closed the gap earlier pressing Platteville's guards and keeping Cross out high.

Platteville dug too deep of a hole in the first half that took a lot of energy to get out of.

I would like to compliment them for the video broadcast of the game.

I opted to see Marquette vs. Rutgers but the LAX-PLATT play-by-play was fascinating.  An interesting side note to Platteville's season:  UWP's record was W2-L10 when Brett Stangel took 14 or more shots; when Stangel took 13 or fewer shots, the team was W12-L2.  I wondered all season what justified Stangel's playing time (34.8 minutes per game) and hope it was a case of being the best shooting guard option as opposed to being a senior or related to the assistant coach.

How is Chas Cross?  It seemed like he was an up and coming star last year... but I don't know that we really saw that this year.  I know he was injured for a good portion of the year and I can only assume that this held him back this season.

Strictly an observation:  slightly less mobile, not as aggressive.  I too assume the injury held him back.

Well, actually, it doesn't sound like you are giving Stout too much credit.  Sounds more like you are saying Stout was really lucky and Point got screwed by the officiating.

An observation here:  Play in the WIAC seems to be somewhat ragged this season.  As a retired referee, I can attest to the fact that games punctuated by that sort of play can be difficult (at best) to officiate from the standpoint of flow and consistency.

I've only seen one game live this year (Platteville's loss at the Ohio holiday tournament) but I tuned in to a number of internet-televised events. I commented to my sons who agreed that overall WIAC play just doesn't seem to be up to the level of past years (both recent as well previous decades). Nevertheless, I'm rooting for the three conference leaders to impress at tournament time.

I'd like to give more support to my alma mater, Platteville, but their offense is beyond comprehension and the short rotation doesn't impress me.  Still, Go Pioneers for what it's worth but I guess my heart's with RF.
