Cortland gave up a defensive score (pick 6 and a fumble return) on each of its first two possessions. Since than pretty even.  Cortland D playing well.

Generic statement, yes, but it's true and I'm a Cortland guy.  There just isn't much to say about the game that is productive.  Bottom line, we are on to the second round but need to play much better if we are to be competitive against Wesley.  Framingham St is the best NEFC team I have seen in the last 5 years and we've seen 4 of them.  Happy Thanksgiving to all!

If not for turnovers and penalties, Framingham St would have beaten Cortland today.  That about sums it up.

I have to say that this Cortaca board is boring.  Where are the Men in Flamboyant Hats? Where are the ex-IC football players? This board was always hopping for a few years. I understand life goes on and as you get older Cortaca probably becomes a little less important. I have barely been able to follow the Dragons this year, and am checking this board once a day as opposed to the 10 times as a college student but I miss the tired, recycled jokes from the IC guys.

I would like to welcome who I assume is Dragon parent and from what I hear, the world's greatest Speech teacher, Mr. Pitcher.  Nice to have you on the board.

Don't think we know each other but, given your email address, I'll go out on a limb here and say, say hello to your wife from me.

Thanks 19 but don't look for me to start any fires here.  I'm too old school.  Still not really my place to be participating but figured I didn't just have to be an observer any more.

Agree all around.  Great kid too.  Truly a rare talent.  He has two years of eligibility remaining should he choose to use both.  I think he will.  It was a shock for all to see him hurt before the first game.  He is a man among boys. I hope we have someone who can get the ball to him.  In his absence we have had some kids really step up and have strong years.  Rose has 4 good receivers to throw to.  They could give IC fits on their own and then you throw Myles, Autera and Green in the mix...your defense will have all they can handle.  I think Rose's play will be key.  He can be very good if he doesn't turn it over.

Best to Coach Welch on his recuperation.

There is probably a joke there for you regarding the SUNY athletic training staff but I'm not going to make it.  I think they do a great job.  It's the nature of the game (another cliche' for you).  It really sucks though when it's your kid and both Dan and Matt had serious injury.  Hope all stay healthy Saturday.

Alex now on the coaching staff at SU.  Probably started 3-4 yrs.  came back in 2009 from grad asst coach to play when Pitcher tore his achilles.  I think he played that yr 2005? When Cortland was down to their 4th QB and won.

Yeah, I knew there was some guy who came back like, half a decade later. ;)

By the way, seeing your e-mail, I hope you know it's all in good fun....

Of course.  I know it's in fun.  I have appreciated you guys for a number of years but for obvious reasons refrained from jumping into the fray.  Please know too, that I don't presume Dan would have won 8 in a row.  That's was just my little fun.

Stolen from someone funnier than me:

"Little known fact about this weekend's game. Quarterback Dan Pitcher will be starting his eighth Cortaca game for the Red Dragons, breaking the previous record of seven Cortaca starts held by Dan Pitcher."

Actually he started two.  Had he started seven, we'd be going for our eighth Cortaca win in a row.

Rams...Cortland IS going to the dance. Clinched today.

Congrats to Cortland.  Nice to wrap up the AQ early.  Can't let down though.  I like Rose but he has to stop throwing the ball to the other team.  That's not gonna cut it against a legit playoff team. Defense played great after Kean's first three possessions.  Bronson Green a beast and nice to see Autera run well.

Quick question.  Been incredibly busy and have not been able to follow the Dragons as closely as I would like.  I have wondered what has kept them out of the rankings all year.  This was a team coming off a fantastic season last year. The Buff State loss looked bad until they knocked off the #1 team in the country. Again, all I have followed so far have been the results.  I have no clue on the makeup of the roster or what was expected of them.

My guess is strength of schedule.  Cortland's wins were W Conn, Mville, Montclair, TCNJ...none are world beaters.  It's not until now that they are beating any notables: bport and Rowan.  Now Kean next week.  We might get a sniff or be just on the outside.
