Thought I should come out of deep retirement to say congrats to the Thunder for an excellent season. :) I definitely do not have the time to follow basketball like I used to but 15 years ago college me is absolutely ecstatic. I know WheatonC would be too, and I am sure he was cheering on from heaven.

Serious question though: Why couldn't you do it while the Final Four was still in Salem. :P

P.S. It's kinda amazing to me that the people here are almost all the same. xD

My spellcheck apparently tried to correct "Prikkel" for me. No one has ever been able to correct the Man of a Thousand Chins

The manager at the Foster Avenue McDonald's still wants to know what happened to my brother.  ;D

This coming from a man who has more chins than a Chinese phone book.

Phone book?!   Wow---you guys are old.
So funny! But true I guess  :-[

Good to see joehakes on the boards! :)

Congrats to Wheaton and IWU on great seasons, and to Coach Schauer for the Midwest region COY award.  ;D

Are there going to be a lot of NCCers traveling to Salem?

OK, as of today, here is the skinny as to what is what regarding the seating for the NCC/IWU game Sat. Please note that all seating arrangements have been coordinated with the NCAA after consulting the Playoff Host Handbook.
With regard to "fan friendly" pricing, it is noteworthy that, with a $7.00 charge, the price being charged at NCC for a third round game is the same as what IWU charged for a first round game.  :)
Besides, as has been highly publicized in the last few days, a large percentage of IWU fans will only be paying the senior rate of $4.00 anyway.  8-)is
Does the $4.00 include a senior coffee? :o ::)

It'd better. The fan bus contingent needs something to dip those funeral-home doughnuts into. ;)
I had right clicked this, then gone on to read something completely unrelated, then came back to d3boards and was reading this and was like, wait, how did I start reading all the posts from 2012, hahaha.

Since we're pulling up old posts and confusing people, I just found this string of posts on my 1999 iMac.

Joe Hakes: Mike Schauer might be featured again soon on the d3hoops.com front page. One never knows what twists and turns take place in college basketball.
Wheaton C: Joe Hakes, nice choice! Mike Schauer is a great recruiter, a fine coach, and a class act. But I have two questions for you Joe, Where is Troy Justice headed? Is Wheaton's all time assist leader Matt Nadelhoffer joining Schauer? Matt and his wife were supposed to be in Pa a few weeks ago for an interview with Mike for the top assistant's job. For those if you don't know Matt, he was Don Klaas's top assistant at COD this year. The Chaparrals ended up winning the national JUCO championshp in Albany, NY. Once again, good choice in choosing Sager's buddy Schauer.
Joe Hakes: Sager's buddy? Maybe we better reconsider.

Now THAT is super funny in retrospect.

But Ziemnik, for me, is now in a category with guys like Matt Hoder, Nathan Hubbard, and John Camardella.
I had to lol....  :D :-X 8-)

I know this is going to seem completely crazy especially since it's my team that would be knocked off, but I find the CCIW getting three teams in so often is kinda boring on top of the whole CCIW tournament thing. Get a good non-conf schedule and win and you barely even have to try in conference play. ???

I don't know how I ever kept up with this board.

IWU70, your posts are at least 10 notches less intense than everyone elses and they make me smile. :)

Die Hard

I notice you didn't include your Wheaton fans in that category of obnoxious.  If I remove Augustana, I would list my order as

Carthage
Wheaton
IWU/ North Park
Millikin
Elmhurst/North Central because they don't have many students at the games that I have attended.

AndOne.....you are something.
After being shown a video clip from the NC/Wheaton clip this past Saturday at the football awards ceremony, I'd have to put Wheaton right up there at the top. LOL on the NC students-many of them barely stay for a half at football games either :D :D
Interesting. Maybe Wheaton has changed a lot, but I suspect we just have different versions of inappropriate. Mine was that the student section is drunk, curses, is violently angry, makes fun of players inappropriately like mocking their religion, disability, race, etc. Basically things that make you cringe that small children are present. I think a student section can be obnoxious, which is a basic part of good fan support, without being inappropriately so. I definitely find the NPU student section obnoxious, but I have never felt like we needed to cops there, or that I was in any kind of danger, or that they crossed any kind of line.

No one got lapel pins, even the HoFers.... Actually that's the real reason I deleted my account before.  :D

Random thoughts in no particular order...

My official response to all the *#$^*slapping posts in the last several days posts is O.M.G.W.T.F....  :o ??? :P

Congrats to my Wheaties for exceeding all expectations this year.

Weighing in on the most inappropriately obnoxious student crowds at games**
#1 Carthage
#2 Augustana
#3 IWU
#4 Elmhurst/NCC tie
#5 North Park
** Can't rate Millikin cause I never went there.

Sounds like the IWU student section decided to make a run for the title in the last five years though... To use that Radio insult as an actual chant totally just reinforces my perception that modern day IWU is where all the popular people in Illinois high schools choose to go and the otherwise Stepford-Wives-ish brain associations I have with the institution.
----
AndOne: Don't worry, back in the day all the coaches in the CCIW only response to me was more or less "What is that girl doing at games again??" with passing disinterest. I doubt any of them even knew my name, so that just reinforces rather than undermines your relevancy.
----
Also, it is confusing to have another poster named Mark.

I will take some ORVs after being picked to finish 5th in the conference!

TQ, D3 Watcher, et al... cookies, cookies... hopefan's ears pick up.   ;) ;)
Fixed, haha ;)

Greg: Over Thanksgiving I was down in Texas and had a nice chat with one of my brother's PhD profs who went to U of Chicago for his PhD, but I really had to hold my tongue and not say, "You guys have a really ugly basketball arena".  :-X ;D

A belated Happy Thanksgiving to all! :)

Belated congrats to Coach Owen Handy for his first win as a head coach!

Very big in-region win for North Central.  I have to believe the Hope win is going to really help NCC in the seeding/selection process.

On the flip side, this loss will hurt Hope.
Shhh, it's not like Hope needs a more fluffy schedule...  :o

In other news, How bout that Thunder?  ;)

Thought this was an interesting list of the best schools for student athletes in all divisions. Wheaton came in at #66.

The beginning of this board is funny.

Just wanted to pop in and say "Good Luck" to Coach Owen Handy!

Now that it's November I thought it was about time to check in.

Just want to say a belated congrats to Coach Harris, Matt Nadelhoffer and Tony Bollier! Also :'( Owen Handy. Haha. Okay fine, congrats to him too. ;D

Your guys' predictions of Wheaton's chances this year make me sad.

Does anyone know why Wheaton is moving further and further away from doing Christmas vacation trips?
