John Troxell, F&M head coach resigned--heading to his alma mater Lafayette to be head football coach
Disappointing, but can't blame him! Maybe the new higher can take the next step at F&M and finally get an NCAA berth.

Looks like the Centennial Conference will be calling off the season-maybe playing a conference only schedule in the Spring, maybe...oh well.

Considering the national powerhouses the Centennial has for lacrosse programs (both DIII and DI) ... a spring football schedule even five or so games against conference opponents is going to be rather challenging.
They can do it. They handle successful soccer and field hockey programs with football normally. Lax may need to move a match to Sunday or something. It'll be extra work to pull off for sure, but not something they can't handle.

Yep. Just saw that as well. It's on the centennial's twitter.
Just a conference slate still means 9/10 games.

The box score shows that Slyka did not play at all for F&M against Neuman on Thursday night. Does anyone know why? Injury? Other? Thanks.

Eric
They just said on the broadcast tonight that he's battling an injury and was cleared to play.

Looks like a West Conn own goal sends F&M through.

Unbelievable that UR is not charging to stream their game and then SLU's game...Maybe they thought that would not look good being an NCAA game and all or maybe there is some sort of rule about that by the NCAA but I highly doubt it.

All NCAA tournament games for DIII sports are required to be streamed for free.  I'm not sure if the NCAA subsidizes the streams or just simply require free streams, but tournament games cannot be behind paywalls unless there are special circumstances (e.g. Mount Union Football having a TV package).
That's not quite right. You get free broadcast rights from the NCAA if you don't charge for your NCAA streams. Otherwise it's quite a bit of money if you have commercials or PPV so basically no school would ever make back the money. I think staff for broadcasts can be included as part of your hosting package so the school won't be out much for doing a broadcast.

I'm not sure if they care about the mileage at this time.I remember last year on the women's side they shipped Scranton,Tufts and I think Oshkosh to St Louis way over 500 miles for them two teams. But who knows!
They might fly an extra team, but probably not. Maybe both of the bussing schools didn't submit to host for some reason or another. If two teams are within 500 miles of one another, it is highly likely one of those two will host.

Yep.

Ramapo, F&M, Middlebury, and MIT? Your guess is as good as mine. It's an all-busing sectional, we know that. But none of thees four teams hosted this weekend, so none of them are high seeds.
I'd wager a guess at Ramapo since they were second regionally in the final rankings. But Middlebury might have a stronger case. And it all depend on who put in to host week 2.

I'm guessing Swarthmore will travel up to Plattsburgh. Not sure about F&M since the four pod hosts in that quadrant are out.
I'm guessing ramapo if they put in to host since they were 2nd in the regional rankings.
All 4 teams are within 500 miles so it doesn't matter travel wise.

In a league like that, where the schedule is not balanced, you can counteract the effect by letting everyone in the conference tournament. That's what the ODAC does. (And although I haven't watched much D-I bball in the past 6-8 years, I believe the B1G does this as well.)

They do, but the top 4 are rewarded with double-byes, also like the ACC.  Another huge advantage for essentially playing a non-competitive schedule.
SEC does the same thing with double buys, letting everyone in, and playing unbalanced scheduled.
Three home and homes are the same every year ie. Vanderbilt always plays Kentucky, Florida, and Tennessee twice while the remaining 2 rotate for twice to make 18 league games.

Also, the last time I was at F&M was for the sectional when MIT played there - and I had to park on the street and walk three blocks to get to the games.
Yeah F&M doesn't have a ton of parking. They were running shuttles from the local baseball stadium for that sectional.
