Junkie and Falcons.... great updates throughout the last few years. Saints, how are you liking the new coach?

A good start to the year gor GNAC teams. They are playing a lot more "top level" teams since going to the new one game format.

Can't wait to see this Albertus team grow.

Haven't been on for a long time; user name issued. Great GNAC season. This was a cery competitive league and unfortunately, still didn't help Albertus get a better draw. But great season. Albertus got betteras season went on and Mitch has a nice young group of players. Hopefully, they take care of each other and develop. Could be a dangerous regional team in two years.

Saint, wow what a difference a coach makes. The program will only get better as players continue to play in his system. Suffolk has been improving each year. You still have St Joe Maine, JWU around also. And of course ST Joe CT will be a force. 6 really competitive programs! Plus the new model of only playing in conference opponent once allows for teams to schedule a lot more games against NESCAC, Little East, and NJACAC teams. If the conference begins winning against those conferences than you'll begin to see GNAC draw better in the tournament. It looks like the future is bright with these coaches.

Congrats to JWU; a heck of a basketball game was played on Saturday. JWU made some big plays down the stretch. Green-younger is a tough player; not afraid to have ball in hands in crunch time. JQ, what a great career. He didn't have his best game, credit to JWU, but kept Albertus in the game. He was unable to get touches in last 4 minutes. JWU did a great job responding to Albertus 's run. Good luck to them during the NCAA tournament.

Nice all around game by Albertus yeaterday. They played well in every aspect; defense, offensive sets, and transition offense. If they play like that, they are tough to beat. Lasell causes a threat, they can shoot the ball and have two really good players. However, if Albertus bring the defensive energy they had last night and shoot the ball well. They should win going away. By 8-11 points.

Saint, I think the 3/6 and 4/5 match-ups are toss up. I can see both St. Joe and Lasell losing. I think albertus and JWU will have easy first round wins. Second round can cause issues depending on match up.

My argument isn't that Albertus should be ranked in region; it's that talent ( eye test) will always be a big factor in ranking teams regionally. Now, when you have talent, along with a strong SOS and a good record those teams will be ranked high. That's why the team led by big vic was ranked 6 with a horrible SOS and this team (prior to yesterday's game) couldn't break the top 12. My point is the committee has seen Albertus play and don't believe they are worth a spot in ranking. And I agree, although I do believe they are having a good year.

Albertus suffered their first conference loss just before the start of GNAC tournament to JWU. Albertus will host every game they play and are still considered the favorites. A loss like this is sometimes a good thing. Players can be humbled and mitch work on the things that are team weakness.

As always, let's go Falcons.

Albertus left off new england rankings. Guess it didn't pay to beef up the out of conference schedule. Just win the league. Go to tournament.

Guys, I know we all love Falcons basketball; but I think losing English hurts Albertus more than helps them. He didn't fill up the stat sheet; however, he played good defense. He, along with pittman, was able to keep the primary ball handler in check. This is key because no one else on this team can play defense consistently like that. Too many dribble penetration and kick outs. Also, English was rusty and missed a lot of close range buckets and lay ups but got to basket pretty easily. It was only a matter of time before he would get those shots to fall. He was a good ball handler which help pittman; especially when teams start pressing. JQ is amazing but it's a lot to ask him to carry a team. A guy like English could draw attention away from JQ. Green-younger has been inconsistent and the role players haven't established themselves yet. Hopefully they can but I am not as confident in Albertus winning the GNAC tournament as I was 3 weeks ago.

Of course I am still rooting for the Falcons! Amd I love the guys on the team all good kids! Go Albertus!!

Smitty, thanks for the insight. Athletic programs need to be funded at higher levels for most schools out there. Student athletes are shuttled from campus to campus because it's less experienced than providing lodging and meals. Overall, conference games are scheduled with travel in mind. Albertus and St. Joe's are about 5 hours apart. The conference has done a great job of keeping these games on a Saturday afternoon to avoid students getting home after 1 am and then having morning classes. The non conference is where it gets tricky. Each athletic department needs to fund these trips within reason prior to the of the season. The middlebury game happened to be played the night before the first day of classes. The need for teams in the GNAC to schedule games against highly thoughof New England programs forces their hand to travel more than other clubs. Hopefully Midd, Swath, have agreed to play a home and home similar to Babson and NJ city university.

Junkie, I couldn't have said it better myself. Hopefully the new president can take a look at some of the issues that have plagued the athletics program for almost a decade.

Great week for Albertus. Although they didn't play their best against Mt.Ida and Lasell. They got wins ocer the team that scores the most (ida) and the second best team (lasell in my opinion). But, they also showed that they can compete at against good teams. On the road down by 10 in the second half and they force ot. That's a good lost. I would like to see them clean up the free throws and protect the ball a little better. I would expect a double digit win on Tuesday.

Saint very good win by Emmanuel. A win like that could give the team confidence and propelled them to a few conference wins. I won't be surprised if they finished the season as a 6th seed.

Albertus played wonderfully against Midd. They lost in overtime to the nationally rsnked team; JQ showed why he can be an all-american leading the falcons down the stretch. Twice they were down by 10 in the second half and came back to tie the game in the final minute. Albertus had the lead in OT with just under 3 to play but then walters fouled out and the offense went missing. They stood around and kind of hoped for someone to make a play. The little things cost them the game, inconsistent 3 ball, poor free throw shooting, and too many second chance opportunities for Midd. But, overall, a great effort on the road against a sweet 16 opponent. A lost like this can do wonders for a tem, who in my opinion is still learning to find itself and find their offensive rhythm. English and Green-younger have only played a handful of games. The defense was outstanding! Great job guys!

By the way, how close was that shot at the end of the game that went in. Albertus was that close to a bryon reaves or missy lumus moment.

Happy New Year GNACers..

I think Greek's point is he though English was goinf to be the guy after JQ graduates. Not that he hasn't played well.

D3; you are right on! Jones' game never fit Oliver's style. I wish him the best moving forward. At the moment the falcons are trying to add two players into their rotation. I believe it will take 6-8 games to build that chemistry that will be needed. Both English and Green-younger have shown flashes but have also been inconsistent. I will be excited to see them once the rust wears off. English has shown he can get to the basket which will open up the 3 ball. He also looks like a committed defensive player.

Moving forward: Falcons need to hit the free throw; clean up some of their defensive lapses. I do think they need another outside shooter.

The league is wide open in my opinion. In years past it has been Albertus's league to lose. However, Lasell, st.joe, jwu have all played tough out of conference games and been fairly competitive. Should make for a fun winter in New England.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Pittman family for their loss.

December lost at Keene, a solid regional opponent isn't terrible. Many coaches, hopefully Mitch included, will use games like these to prepare for the conference games. I didn't see the game but looking at the box score, Albertus only hit 3 three pointers and attempted like 20. Just an off shooting night. Both teams committed a lot of turnovers and Albertus went to the line almost 30 times. The team has to find its way here over next 10 games. Especially if they will be incorporating 3 new faces. GNAC is still a one bid league; hopefully the team can be more consistent with the 3 ball going forward.

Good luck to Keene the rest of the way.

Anyone know why Pittman didn't play? I didn't see the game but saw the box score.
