Messages - Boys of Fall

For better or worse, the game of college football is changing.  SJU has not done too bad with Erdmann and Syverson, both transfers.

On a related note of the game changing, does anyone know anything further on the non-NCAA JUCO eligibility rule changing?  Is Mendez going to be back next year?

Duffman will be absent for the foreseeable future due to wrestling commitments. :o

Duffman;  Back in the day I once ran to Abbott NW Hospital in the middle of night with 2 year old Maran, the Earth Mother met me there at 5:00am so I could race to Terminal 2 to catch Johnnie charter to McMinnville.

5 daughters each playing 12 years of ice hockey was never enough to keep me from Johnnie Football Playoffs.

Bring 'ya ass!

Developing.....
My son once got a wedding invite and his first reaction was to shake his head and say, "Don't people check the Johnnie football schedule before scheduling these things?"

St. John's appeared to use a spy in the 4th qtr last week very successfully.  I wonder if they will do that again this week, especially if the Sus qb is mobile.  Does anyone know the status of McMahon?

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and safe travels to those moving around.

Average spread for the MIAC games this week is 38.9.  Has it ever been this high before??

Here's the difference between the male mind and the female mind.
My wife goes into an office everyday and I work from home.  When she gets home at the end of the day within ten minutes it's either too hot or too cold.  My response is always the same, "I hadn't noticed."

It certainly wasn't their best game, but there were a lot of positives, and Auggie Tech has some very good players.
A few thoughts on the Augsburg game:
1) It's always nice to come out of a trap game with a win.
2) Augsburg had a good game plan.  They found a mismatch in our secondary and took advantage.
3) The Auggies made it an ugly game and we played at that level.  Need to cut way down on the penalties.
Those who have been involved know every win is good.

Quote from: retagent on October 03, 2024, 09:41:48 AMNo offense meant to Auggie fans, but I hope we get an extended look at backup QB(s) and O line especially. With all seniors up front, we need to see what the future holds. Looking at the roster, there are some "Big Boys" on the sidelines as well as starting. Hopefully, they are not JUST big.
I would like to see the Johnnies rush for upwards of 200 yards on Saturday.  I think the Auggies will do everything they can to take away/limit the Johnnie passing game.  Syverson and the OC's might want to swallow the passing pride and work on the run game.  This might also then benefit them down the road.

If Auggie Tech beats scholarship Valley City on Friday night are they better than U$T who lost to scholarship USF??

Quote from: MadRedFan on August 20, 2024, 06:13:47 PMAlso in previous reports, they are also going to have one of those "self-serve" beer pouring walls?  I'm not clear on the concept, but there are others around apparently.

Basically, you get a card that tracks your "usage".  Walk up to the wall, swipe your card, and pour whatever beer you'd like.  Every few beers, you have to have an "ambassador" reset your account so they can ensure that you're not going overboard.  ;)

FFS, they'll soon have us drinking beer like we're in a pod from The Matrix.  I know I've made my career "digitally transforming" across the Asia Pacific (and now AI!! You better buy some.  Quick!), but this is a step too far.  Pubs are analogue.  I refuse to budge.
What is the standard tip rate at these self-serve pubs?

Appreciate the prayers, all.  Dad had surgery today that removed a tumor from his spine.  The surgeon did his best, and now we'll be moving forward to fight the cancer.  :-\
Dad's a tough SOB.

Just wanted to provide a quick update on my dad.  He went through radiation treatments on his spine and had been recovering from surgery.  Then, being the stubborn guy he is, he insisted upon trimming some trees where he hurt his shoulder.  He went in for his 3-month check, where they noted that he fractured his shoulder and tore his rotator cuff.  The subsequent MRI showed that cancer contributed to the fracture.  :-\  So, he'll be doing a radiation on the shoulder, and he'll be starting chemo in the next week or so to hopefully keep this at bay for a while.  Appreciate any prayers and good vibes you all can send our way.  :'(
Prayers and positive thoughts going your way Duff.  That's a tough generation.

I think there have been three issues with this year's team:
1. Interior line play.  On both sides of the ball they have not been dominant like in years past.  This can be seen in the inconsistent running game (at best) and not getting pressure on the other team's qb.
2. Lack of playmakers.  There are not playmakers this year, either offensively or defensively, that make a play at crucial times of the game.
3. Penalties.  This lack of discipline has hurt all year.  If I remember correctly, every drive that Augsburg scored on was saved by a penalty on third and long or on fourth down.
That being said, if there is a way the Johnnies can get into the playoffs they might make a run.  The second half against Trinity, the 2nd quarter/early 3rd quarter against UWW, and the Bethel game all give hope.

I rate it .9999 probable that Carleton supporters have bookmarked this page for hopeful future use.
It's been bookmarked for 40 years.
