Macon played an outstanding game.  Holding the ball for 45 minutes will definitely help you win.  In '09, we only had the ball for 17 minutes and won, but I guess that extra 2 minutes really did it for the Jackets haha.

I believe that Kenny Fryman went out with a bang and made his case for D.P.O.Y. with 19 tackles and a forced fumble.

In regards to the incident at H-SC...

After speaking with many students, faculty, and staff at H-SC, everyone is extremely embarrassed, as am I.  That said, you are correct in saying it has and still is being handled correctly.

I do not believe it will have an impact on The Game.  There was definitely no football players invovled...a good percentage of the Minority Student Union is on the football team and all players have stayed together this week with their focus on preparing for Macon.

Should be another good one.

Having played with or against almost all of these players, here is my take on the postseason awards:

O.P.O.Y. Heinsohn, RB/K, W&L...without him running the ball up the middle, W&L can't run its offense. Not to mention, he played outstanding in the biggest game of the year.  Pretty impressive he kicks as well.

Honorable Mention: Holton Walker, H-SC...with Vance and Cavanagh graduating, extremely impressive what he's been able to do this year, leading the ODAC by far in every receiving category.

D.P.O.Y. Fryman, LB, H-SC...by far and away the best defensive leader in the ODAC.  I don't think he's missed a tackle since middle school.  Told by everyone at all levels that he's too small, yet he continues to average 10 tackles a game and 2 TFL's a game. Needs 9 tackles vs. Macon to reach 250 for his career (has had 197 the past 2 years as a starter). Here's an interesting stat:  if he makes 4 tackles vs. Macon, he'll reach 600 tackles in his past 8 years of football at the inside linebacker position.

Honorable Mention: Robert Smith, Guilford...6.5 sacks as a LB stands out.

C.O.Y. Rusiewicz, Guilford...with all of the drama at Guilford early in the season, he managed to keep a team together and win a few ball games along the way.

R.O.Y. Toss up between Nance and Pawlowski.  Nash had big expectations and a lot of pressure and has performed well.  Pawlowski spearheaded a Guilford team that hasn't had a real star since Vogelbach.

I agree completely with the discipline aspect of "staying home".  It is very difficult to do on defense...if Fryman & Co. can do this for H-SC, they should have success on defense.

I can't wait for the game Saturday...should be another memorable game, much like the past 2 years.

In regards to the comparison of the "uniqueness" of W&L's and H-SC's offenses...

W&L is unique because no one runs that offense and executes it on a consistent basis like W&L does (maybe Salisbury is an exception, but i still think W&L is more consistent with it).

H-SC is unique because of the speed at which they play.  When he is on a roll, the speed at which Coach Favret calls plays rivals the speed at which Oklahoma runs plays. It is very difficult for a defense to stop an offense that snaps the ball right when the play clock starts.

Offensively, this game will be all about rhythm.  When W&L gets their option offense rolling, they can just toy with you.  When H-SC combines its pace with efficiency, there are not many defenses that can stop them.

This is an obvious statement, but it will all come down to turnovers.  Can H-SC disrupt W&L's backfield in order to get the ball on the ground?  Can W&L get H-SC to 3rd & 10+ to force some risky throws?

Not much of a contest today in farmville. It was clear which qb was better and hsc's o line paved the way for 257 yds rushing.  Really crazy how the ODAC works...guilford beats Macon, Macon smacks catholic, catholic handles hsc, hsc dominates guilford...guilford beats bwater who beats w and l...just wild.

Nonetheless, another HUGE game between the tigers and generals next week!

i think i have posted a total of 4 times EVER, so my opinion should not be heavily weighed...

that said, i'm sure some h-sc players are thanking some of this week's posts for motivation.

i'm excited that guilford has turned their program around...but as someone mentioned earlier, it is still TEAM game, and one of these TEAMS will prove tomorrow between 1-4 who deserves to be competiting for the ODAC title in the final weeks of the season.

Very excited for this weekend's matchup between Huntington and HSC. Will Fryman, Fogleman and co. be able to stop Huntington's highly touted running back? Will the offense be able to continue its quick scoring abilities against a much better defense (with a stud at d-tackle for Huntington)?

Should be a good game and a big one for the ODAC.

All tigers today against CNU. Nash nance settled in and completed 25 of 31 passes with 5 tds and 0 picks. 42-0 with 8min left in the third before the starters were pulled. Hsc will have a week off to heal up some minor injuries before revenge game against Huntington.

How should HSC matchup against CNU ? Anybody have any real insight.

I'm really happy to learn that Averett is planning to build a new football facility. Having paid my first visit this past Saturday it is sorely needed. I don't see how they recruit as well as they do with the current facility.

How is the new Day Field looking up in Ashland ?

looking at last week, it appears CNU's offense is ahead of its defense and vice versa for HSC.  last week, CNU gave up no sacks to salisbury, who usually puts decent pressure on the qb.  with impressive performances by d-ends russ leboff and aaron arant last week, the HSC defense notched 6 sacks against averett.  it'll be interesting to see how HSC puts pressure on CNU as their qb threw for 253 yards and no interceptions last week.  putting pressure on the quarterback is usually a big key to a game at any level.

on offense last week, HSC had its lowest passing total since 2010 against Bridgewater.  with new qb nash nance, if HSC's veterean and large O-line (averaging about 6'3" 285) can protect him and make room for an all-conference caliber running back in evan king, the tigers should come away victorious.  a matchup to watch will be CNU's justin navarro (6'4 220, 2 sacks last week) against HSC tackles tyler white (6'3" 285) and will ferrell (6'4" 310).

nonetheless, the game will draw an extremely large crowd and it will be a hard-fought battle between two teams trying to establish themselves as the top d3 recruiters in richmond.

hey guys-

i'm new to the boards as i just finished up my playing career in 2011. i am wondering...what are everyone's thoughts on the CNU/HSC game this weekend?  both schools pull a majority of their roster from richmond and there should be a huge crowd for a non-conference game.
