I haven't posted in a while on the boards. Unfortunately, I have some sad news. Della LeMond, mother of Wabash star receiver Kody LeMond, was summoned by our Heavenly Father earlier today. She battled pancreatic cancer the past two years. Mrs. LeMond was a wonderful woman. The Lord brought home an angel. RIP

Honestly, any game can be close. Just look at the Wabash/Allegheny game last year. When you're on the level of Wabash and Wittenberg everyone has you marked on the calendar and gives you their best game! Let's take it one game at a time bashdad

The Wabash and Wheaton scrimmages actually pre-date Coach Creighton and go back to Coach Carlson.
Learned something new! Have they scrimmaged every year since then?

I don't have great intel on the Wabash/Wheaton scrimmage but have heard bits and pieces. If anyone attended and could post more details it would be appreciated. Here is what I have:
- score ended 10-3 Wheaton. I think that was after the top guys finished but not sure how long that it was - a half, 3 quarters, 4 quarters, etc.?
- Wheaton's only TD came after a fumbled punt return by Wabash (where's Chamblee) and they got the ball on the 14 yard line and punched it in.
- since Wheaton opens earlier than most years, I am guessing they have been in camp longer than Bash
- Not sure how much Meador (QB) played but I am pleased that he didn't go nuts, he has to be one of the top D3 QB's in the country - sounds like our D played well
- Sounds like Chase got heavy pressure and ran for his life - I'm sure ER is still trying to set our O-line, Wheaton's D front is probably really good, etc.
- Sounds like Hildebrand stood out for the Bash WR's - had a couple of TD's called back on penalties
- Wabash did not have any injuries
Wabash Always Fights!
Thanks for the info. I like that Wheaton/Wabash does this scrimmage consistently, seems like it has gone on at least for the past 6 to 7 years or so. Good place to start some evaluation as both teams are on a similar level.
The Wabash/Wheaton scrimmage dates back to the Creighton years. Coach Neathery graduated from Wheaton. I believe that's one of the big reasons why Wabash scrimmages Wheaton. Also, as you pointed out, Wheaton is a very good program so the scrimmage is a good measuring stick for the regular season.

This evening at 5pm is the Wabash vs. Wheaton scrimmage. The final score usually means absolutely nothing, but it does signify that the regular season is close. Plus, it's always nice to hit someone wearing different colors!!!

Thanks for the welcome! I have enjoyed reading this board for the past three years. I'm excited to see how Wabash does this year. The team looks good on paper, but they know stats on paper don't translate into wins. Work Works. WAF

Ok, as we are a little over a week away, lets make some NCAC predictions:
Here are mine:
Upset of the Year: Case Western over Wittenberg
Newcomer of the Year: John Laird WR - Wabash
NCAC Offensive Player of the Year: Chase Belton QB - Wabash
NCAC Defensive Player of the Year: AJ Akinribade LB - Wabash
2012 - Monon Bell Game Over/Under 50 - I'll Take the Over (54-0)
Biggest Turn-around Team - Wooster 7-3 (2011 - 4-6)
Conference Game of the Year - Wabash at Wittenberg - (10/06)
Biggest Blow-out Hiram @ Witt - (11/03)
Surprisingly Close Game Wabash at Wash U - (10-13) Depauw at Witt - (9-15)
AJ Akinribade will have a great season, but I put my money on Nate Scola as the NCAC Defensive Player of the Year
