I would support Coach Drach 100%. However, I am not sold on Union's DC. Hearing some of things he was saying to the kids during the game Friday night was a bit disturbing. I also agree that the Dutchmen/GCs offense would have benefited from more running plays, and Flanagan was pretty inaccurate to start the first half. I think both Union and Hobart will have to overcompensate for their lack of size up front all season. At least the Statesmen have what seems like a top defense and they may need to carry this team for a while until the offense figures things out.

RPI is a good-looking team, but maybe one dimensional offensively. We will get a better read on them in the next couple of weeks. The size and speed of the UWL DL isn't something they'll face until the playoffs, if they get that far. The RPI QB made one major bonehead throw but otherwise hung in there under constant pressure. The Engineers couldn't run up the middle so were forced to do sweeps and misdirection plays. Faraday will get open and be a matchup problem for most LL secondaries also.

Ithaca looked better than I expected with all the losses to graduation and should remain the LL favorite. Will be curious to see if Alfred and the E8 is improved and wins some more games this season, or if the LL is just down overall. I am thinking it will be a little of both.

IC looks to have the special teams advantage, as UMass Dartmouth doesn't seem to have a strong return game. They also missed 11 extra points, and were just 2-of-3 on FGs, with nothing longer than 24. Ithaca has had their own hiccups at time in the kicking game, but missed just one PAT, and Bahamonde hit 13 FGs, including from 45+.  And their return game has been top notch.

Look, I'm old enough to remember when we thought IC was gonna roll Curry by 30 points at home in the first round 2008, only to get outplayed from the jump and lose. I also remember the literal centimeters they beat Framingham by in 2013. Regardless of how long ago that was, I don't subscribe to the idea that the NE region is just there to serve as first round fodder for NY teams. This is going to be a battle. Ithaca can't afford a slow start.

Do I think IC is the favorite? Sure. I think it's more along the lines of 31-20 though.

Yes, they still do. Mike DeLong retired several years back, but one of his former assistants (and players) Mike Cerasuolo has done a nice job of keeping the Pride rolling along. They will give EC a good run for their money Saturday.

Hobart got in under the wire, so now there are 5 potential 7-3 teams in the hopper. Going to be interesting.

Confirmed the NE Bowls are happening. Based on the below, my best guesses are:

CCC - If Husson beats WNE, they go. If WNE wins, Salve.
ECFC - Probably Alfred State which isn't exactly "New England" but neither is Gallaudet...
MAS - UMass-D (probably a host)
NEW - USMMA assuming SC beats CUA

Based on that, let's say SAL vs. UMD and ASU (bc they beat GAL h2h) vs. USMMA are the games...?

Given the NE Bowl (NEW/ECFC/CCC/MAS) and MAC/CC commitments, the best resumes based on today would probably be:

Hobart, Westminster and W&J. If CMU loses to Case Saturday, they end up in here, but behind HOB & W&J who I assume will be 8-2. USMMA could be on this list if they somehow lose out in the NEW tiebreaker, but my guess is they end up in NE Bowl in that case, especially if CUA loses to SC Saturday.

Next level would be a 7-3 GCC and CMU (if they lose to Case). GCC beat CMU early in the season, so the H2H bump would go to the Wolverines. Brockport should also come in at 7-3 but may be they lose to Alfred after that weird loss to Mo State? If Saxons win they'd be a good 6-4 road team to send down to one of the PAC 8-2 teams. Utica should also be 6-4.

Maybe this whole thing ends up as a NYS-PAC round robin?

Enjoying the chatter here. There's no more Pool B btw and I think Region 2 really only has one possibility for a Pool C team (W&J) and that's it. Maybe Hop gets in, but they are a potential stretch given their SOS is going to drop and their OOC win is against 3-5 STE.

Regional rankings will be interesting this fall given the new "alphabetical order" approach the Committee is taking for whatever reason. Definitely a departure from the past and maybe it's a PR move of sorts. Will certainly lead to a lot of speculation once they first come out.
