Benedictine had a down year last year. They lost five of seven after a 3-0 start and finished a disappointing 6th in the NACC after being predicted to finish 3rd last season. Wouldn't be surprised if it's another close game again.

Probably a good bet that WLC will face Buena Vista at Storm Lake this coming year. Better matchup for the Warriors compared to Carroll the few years prior.

Martin Luther is a good test for Luther. The Knights in recent times have been a top half team in the UMAC.

After needing the night to gather my thoughts I have to say this:

As you all know I am a WLC alum who saw many years where the Warriors struggled to compete (back to back 5 win years my third and fourth year there) and the slow rebuild back to relevance in the NACC. Going 4 straight years as regular season NACC champs the last few years was a sign of the rebuild was complete and the foundation was set for years to come. This season cemented that in many ways.

For WLC, this was a historic season. Broke the record for most wins (27), 29 straight home wins, Best winning % (.874), beating the highest ranked opponent in history (#2) and many more. It sucks that it had to end yesterday especially in a game that was for the taking until the very end. These Warriors never gave up when they got down big throughout the season. This senior/graduate class set many records personally and will live forever in WLC MBB lore. Next year will be a definite step back but with all the players that saw time throughout the year, the experience will hopefully drive them to continue the run of success in the NACC.

Wisconsin Lutheran 47
Wash U 47

WLC was down by 11 twice but the Warriors nail back to back 3's to force a Bears timeout.

NACC Standings as of 3/14

Rockford 6-3
Dominican 7-4
Benedictine 6-4
Concordia Chicago 7-5
Concordia Wisconsin 5-5
Lakeland 5-5
Marian 4-4
MOSE 3-3
Aurora 4-7
Illinois Tech 2-4
Wisconsin Lutheran 3-7
Edgewood 2-6
St. Norbert 0-4

Definitely a mixed bag of results here. Aurora's record is a bit deceiving since a few losses were walkoffs. Benedictine looking solid so far. The rest are hovering around .500 with WLC, Edgewood and SNC brining up the rear.

Game day vs Wash U in La Crosse.

No common opponents between Wash U and WLC this year and the Bears are 2-0 against WLC all time. Gonna be a close game regardless.

Quote from: PauldingLightUP on March 13, 2025, 10:04:44 PMI see the Bonduel Bears beat Southern Door tonight. What did Drew Daoust end his career at? 3k points and how many more?

Drew finished the game with 28 points which gives him a career total of 3,096 points - second in Wisconsin scoring history.

2nd player to hit 3k points in WI High School Boys Basketball history and 295 points behind Anthony Peiper.

Though I would think the WLC vs Wash U game will be a better one than last year. Last year's matchup went to OT at Wash U and WLC has the same team from that game last year.

Even after waking up today. I am still in a state of disbelief....we really made the Sweet 16!

WLC will face off against Wash U in a rematch of last year's NCAA first round game at UW-La Crosse. Winner will face either Illinois Wesleyan or UW-La Crosse.

Quote from: palum on March 08, 2025, 11:29:22 PMPlatteville's season comes to a end with a overtime loss to Wisconsin Lutheran. So do the careers of seniors Logan Pearson, Brady Olson and Ben Probst. They will be missed. Platteville was up by 11 points early in the 2nd half but they couldn't land a knockout punch. Credit to Wisconsin Lutheran they fought and clawed their way to the win. Wisconsin Lutheran's Ryan Broeckel played the entire game.

WLC has clawed it's way out of double digit second half holes a few times this season (Twice against Lakeland to boot) so it's not surprising that they aren't gonna go away easily.

Broeckel is the heart and soul of this Warriors team. Granted it's been him and the grad student teammates that been the core of the Warriors success this year but he is the workhorse of the group. A rematch against Wash U in the sweet 16 awaits. That will be a game to watch at La Crosse.

First time since 2016 that an NACC team is in the Sweet 16. I am ecstatic.
