Great job to all of the little giants who got honors this week... Also congratulations. To nate scola for getting defensive player of the year.... I no scola was taking out of a lot of games early do to the giants being up big early in a lot of games... I wonder fellow Wallys what numbers scola could of really got for Wabash... If D3 football gives out any defensive awards this year scola should be a strong candidate... The numbers he put out are amazing considering he was taking out of some games... If the facts are right from what I heard Witt played all there starters in every game the whole way.... Wabash didn't....... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Your hearsay facts are not right.  The starters may have played in some games longer than they should have, especially our defensive starters, but in games that were one-sided (most of them) they did not play the whole way.

Congrats to all players who were selected for Post-Season honors. The NCAC if filled with quality players and young men.

In today's technology world, Mount Union should not be allowed to host anymore playoff games until they start streaming their games on the Internet.

Wabash should still be playing.  Tough break.  I'm not a big fan of this selection process.

Are there too many teams in the NCAC?  Strength of schedule is a big criteria during the selection process for the playoffs.  With only one non-conference game per year, it is nearly impossible for teams like Witt and Wabash to increase their strength of schedule percentage.

Wabash should receive a Pool C bid, but strength of schedule may keep them out. I would like to see the day that the NCAC 2nd place team is a lock to make the playoffs like the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Good luck Wabash!

I really liked seeing all the support for Witt during the game from fellow NCAC fans.  Thanks!  Let's hope the Tigers can tighten up that Defense a little next week in Geneva, NY.  They did step it up in the second half giving the offense great field position.

As for an approach for scheduling non-conference games for next year, that was done a long time ago.  Those games are already on the schedule.

Thanks Sigma One.  While searching for Wittenberg's future schedules I stumbled across the NCAC's schedules for 2013 and 2014.  If anyone doesn't already know them they are posted at:

I'm still trying to find Witt's non-conference opponent for 2013.  If anyone knows, please post.  Thanks!

Florence also has 459 yards rushing with 7 TD's compared to Espinosa's 115 and 1 TD.

Espinosa actually has -38 yards on the ground. And look, I don't think he's better than Florence. He's not better than Belton. But he will win the OPoY. That's happening.

The truth is, and I'm still too disappointed to really go all the way with this post, but the truth is that this year's NCAC football season wasn't its best. It was a screwy, sometimes riveting season, but it wasn't those things because everyone was so good which is what I think we all want to believe right now. We're sending a team to the playoffs that probably isn't making it past Saturday; that team is sharing its conference championship with a team it didn't play and a team that got shut-out by the third place team in the league; and that team, Wabash, threw up two of the biggest what-the-eff games in the past decade of not just its own program's history, but the conference's too. It just--the whole friggin' season--it just felt a little stupid for my taste. So, I don't know, if Mason Espinosa is the offensive representative of all of that, then so be it. Seems fitting, if I have my mean hat on. Grumble grumble.

115-7.

Believe me, after watching Wabash control the ball for the final nine minutes of the Wittenberg game, I thought they would continue that momentum towards a pretty high playoff seed. Week after week I kept watching them rise in the polls hoping that Witt would get an at-large bid because its only loss would that three point loss to Wabash. Well, then things got interesting.

Yep. It was a screwy season. My first following the NCAC. It seems that with all teams playing one another next year it should not be as controversial as this year. I am wondering what approach teams will take in scheduling their lone non-conference game. I'm hoping for games that will boost strength of schedule just in case their are three teams vying for playoffs spots next.

As for Saturday's game, take off that mean hat, put on your red W hat and send good vibes to that other team in the NCAC whose followers also wear red W hats.

I'd be shocked if OPoY didn't go to Espinosa. Monster year statistically on the surprise conference co-champs. That'll do it.

Witt's Reed Florence should definitely be considered for Offensive Player of the Year.  He replaced last year's winner, Ben Zoeller, and he has put up some great numbers not only throwing but also running.  While he may not have as many yards in the air as Espinosa, he does have three more TD's (23) with 141 fewer attempts.  Florence also has 459 yards rushing with 7 TD's compared to Espinosa's 115 and 1 TD.  Because of the scores in most of the games this year, Florence was only playing in three quarters.

He may not win the award this year, but the way that Reed starting playing in the last part of the season should give other NCAC teams something to think about this off season, and should vault him to the top of next year's list.

The Heidelberg football website shows that the game will be streamed. If it's like last week's game against Baldwin-Wallace there is no audio commentary just raw video streaming.

Looking at this bracket, I am very thankful that Denison helped Witt out yesterday. I'm not sure we make it as an "at large" pick. OWU deserved a spot.

Also, Adrian receiving a home game and Witt traveling is a surprise.

Great season NCAC teams. This is my first year following the conference. Initially, I am very impressed with the amount of respect on this board that posters have for other schools. Although I was confused about the DIII playoff selection process and even more confused by the NCAC tiebreaker, I used this board to find answers or to ensure that I wasn't the only one that was perplexed. I sent an email directly to the NCAC and received an immediate response, but that did little to clarify the process.

I would also like to thank the fans of the NCAC schools that I have had the pleasure of seeing at games this year. Unlike traveling to away DI games, the DIII experience makes me feel proud that I sent my son to the right environment for learning and competing while in college.

Good luck to all NCAC teams in future seasons and I'm glad that if there are any tiebreakers from this point forward, the process will be will not be as complex as this year.
