Just chiming in to agree that Dave and Chris are real pros and really good people. I sure hope each moves on seamlessly to rewarding work. Thanks for all the help for so long if your situation becomes permanent.

HSC had just 7 turnovers against a full-court pressing team that came into the game 8-1 (including a 13-point win over Lynchburg). Jake Hahn and Ryan Clements have been in the top 5 in turnovers in the ODAC, but yesterday they combined for 14 assists and no turnovers. This team is clearly improving...but league play is typically tougher. Stay tuned.

Hampden-Sydney evened up its league record with a tight win over Shenandoah yesterday at home. This was HSC's first ODAC win since winning at SU over a year ago. The Hornets have been bitten by the injury bug, but they played very well in the first half and had a six point lead at halftime. The Tigers got it going in the second half and held on for the win despite shooting below 50% from the line. Southern VA comes to HSC on Saturday, and the Tigers will go for three straight wins.

Caleb Kimbrough got his first win as coach of Hampden-Sydney last night at Gallaudet. HSC should be more competitive in league play this year, and he's got some good young players on this squad. Next up is RMC at home on Saturday, but it is a non-ODAC game.

Has the feel of an English 3rd division soccer stadium. One side is covered. Retro cool. Unless they've made major changes. Enjoy.

I'm sure you are referring to Morgan McKay. He entered the program in late December of last year.

Caleb Kimbrough is excited about his first recruiting class at Hampden-Sydney. It is a large class, but here are four members of the class and links to their highlights:
A.J. Kent, 6'3" wing from Christian Heritage (GA). http://a.hudl.com/profile/5398919/AJ-Kent
Ryan Clements, 6'3" guard from Peachtree Academy (GA)

I will be having a chat with new HSC basketball coach Caleb Kimbrough at 8:00AM tomorrow (Thursday) on WFLO FM 95.7 (Farmville). The station streams on www.wflo.net and can also be found on the TuneInRadio app.
He's excited to get started and I hope our fans will tune in.

A power outage in Danville caused the HSC v Averett game to be postponed 24 hours.

Averett was super fast, BIG, and athletic. And with lots of new transfers. Rayvon Johnson (nee Bridgewater) had a BIG game, and the quarterback (formerly of Maryville, I believe) was a pretty fair passer and an incredible runner (93 yards rushing). AU O-line outweighed HSC's by 40 pounds per man on average.
HSC's freshman RB looked very good but lost two fumbles in the game, which were costly. I noticed he had a heavily taped right thumb in the 2nd half. The 102 yard KO return (untouched) was a game-changer. The Tigers had just taken the lead 14-12 (AU's preseason 1st Team All-America kicker missed the first two PATs-but was otherwise very impressive).
They were bigger and quite a bit faster. AU should have a heck of a season. Because of Averett's speed, HSC had no real "take it to the house" potential on any one play of a great distance. And AU was a threat at all times to do just that.
CNU should be tough, too, but HSC has a chance to have a good ODAC season if they are surer tacklers, thus minimizing big plays. Rhett Anderson, HSC's new K/PK looks to be an outstanding addition. QB Cobb, the pick 6 notwithstanding, played extremely well.
As a UNC alum...I LOVED the singing of my alma mater by the AU players and fans (but they changed the lyrics!).

I believe the one-bid situation this year is at least as much of a function of the bottom half being so capable as the top half being weaker.
Separately, I noticed that Michael Taylor only played 12 minutes vs HSC. Anyone know if he had an injury or illness? He seems to match up very well vs the Tigers.
It is going to be a fun and interesting February in the ODAC.

RIP, Bill Phipps, radio voice of BC. He was a wonderful guy who will be dearly missed. I hope to have a fraction of his courage if I ever have to face what he faced.

I would love to know who owns the tiebreakers if certain teams finished tied in the standings.
