Plattsburgh has the backcourt that can give Amherst fits. Amherst has the decided edge in the frontcourt though. If Plattsburgh can create turnovers and hold Toomey and Killian to pedestrian games, I can see Plattsburgh sneaking their way to a win and a possible redemption game against Stockton in the Elite 8.

Hm. Maybe the CUNYAC got the right team in the tournament after all.
Seriously, nice win by York.
It almost gives Staten Island a little more respect after the fact. York going up to RIC and taking it to them is a bit shocking.
This is what 7express said in the Little East topic (below) and makes sense. Can't really compare York to CSI in that regard because York didn't get "picked" over CSI, they simply won the tournament. And York beat a team that would have been on the outside of the bubble had they not won their tournament as well. I guess you can say CSI lost to a team that might be better than perceived but in reality, you have to see how the late Pool C's do in order to truly see if CSI belonged or not...
7expressQuoteCan't have this game to compare too though since RIC won the conference tournament. You gotta see how teams like Springfield (vs. Mary Washington), Ohio Wesleyan (vs. St. Norbert), Dickinson (vs. Geneseo), and Bowdoin (vs. Richard Stockton) do. Those were some of the last teams with pool C selections. If any one of those teams completely flops like RIC did tonight (and their all capable too) then you could easily make that case.
I was trying to allude to the idea that CSI didn't get picked because of their SOS or didn't have any good wins. Makes you think beating York twice during the regular season is nothing to sneeze at. York going on the road to beat RIC (even if they may be a little down) should give the CUNYAC a little respect which, in turn, gives CSI a bump up in that regard.

Ps. I'm happy for you dude! You deserve it!
Oh and yea.....
The YAC is BACK!!
The first aspect of the conference being "back" is set with getting 2 at-large bids. Now, the SUNYAC has to win a few games to earn the respect it should be getting. I think if Brockport can do well even without the services of John Ivy, that can really speak volumes to the level of play in the conference. Im expecting Plattsburgh to get to the sweet 16.

Hartwick has a difficult first round matchup playing at SUNY Purchase. Purchase has all upperclassmen in their starting lineup and has great size all across the board highlighted by a 7'0 behemoth manning the middle. Hartwick will need a huge performance from Jared Suderley to keep pace.
Can't comment much on Purchase. Saw them once this year....in November the second day of the season @ Eastern. Their 7 foot guy Joel Neri only started playing basketball like 2 or 3 years ago. Andre Nixon is the guard to keep an eye on. Outside of Mount St. Mary & Purchase, the Skyline was pretty dreadful, so even though they have a really good record, they've only really beaten Eastern Connecticut & Brockport in the quality wins department. Lost a close game @ Albertus, and beat Mitchell by 14 are their only other 2 games they've played against tournament teams, and have 3 wins by an average of 13.3 points against 21-6 Mount St. Mary.
I saw Purchase a few times last year so I'm familiar with both Nixon and Neri. One thing I did not notice until this morning was that these two teams faced each other last year to start the season. Purchase won that game that had Neri seemingly to be a difference maker. Hartwick will need to figure out a way to combat Purchase's size.

I really like Plattsburgh's chances getting out of their pod and into the Sweet 16. Brockport should have a tougher 2nd rd matchup with Scranton looming but Brockport has really been playing well lately; even without the services of John Ivy. Geneseo has a tough one against Dickinson in the first round. If they can get by them, Wooster should be waiting for them. Much taller task for Geneseo than their SUNYAC counterparts.

Hartwick beats Nazareth in the Empire 8 final in a game they controlled throughout. One bid league for the E8 this year.

Shocking game to decide to the SUNYAC championship. I believe Plattsburgh is safe for an at-large bid. Geneseo may be sweating it out now.

If William Paterson wins the NJAC and no other upsets in the region, RU-Newark will be one of the last teams considered for a Pool C. Richard Stockton should be a safe bet for an at-large bid.

It will be interesting to see if Staten Island can get a Pool C bid if they were to be upset in the CUNYAC final.

I think its safe to assume that Brockport and Plattsburgh are in regardless what happens in their next game. Geneseo may need to win to cement an at-large bid. No one else in the East should be a threat to overtake these 3 teams so it looks like the SUNYAC 3 team entry into the NCAA's looks good!

Plattsburgh/Geneseo seems to be a "win and you're in" matchup for Pool C implications.

The game between Rutgers-Newark and William Paterson puts the winner on the edge of Pool C candidacy. Many teams around the country will be looking in on this game with interest.
