I haven't posted in a LONG time, but I do still check the boards.  Being out here in Colorado, I only get to analyze based on numbers and stats.  It would appear Cal Who has the better resume than my Dawgs based on common opponents and such.

No headlines here that I'm picking Redlands in a close game, but lightning can't strike twice with Whittier v. OXY.  Can it???

I can't believe I will put this in print, but here's to CLU repping the SCIAC in Rd 1.  Stupid Rose Bowl Rule - and if UR is ever a beneficiary of this rule, I will be happy Redlands benefits but still acknowledge that it is a stupid tiebreaker.

I don't reslly know who to root for here.  Chapman, I suppose...?

Wild Thing,

Pat Coleman was under the impression that Redlands @ 8-1 would get in.  That of course was prior to OXY screwing the pooch against CalWho.  Hats of to the Who for throwing a sizable wrench into the best laid plans of the SCIAC.  I gotta say, they did what the Dawgs were not able to do.

Oh and that was accomplished by simply scoring more points than the opponent.

UR appears to be in a damned if they lose to CalWho, and not quite as damned, but def. still damned if they beat the Who.

If CalWho gets in, despite getting whipped by UR, (I can't beleive I'm putting this in writing) I hope they rep well for the conference, because it appears that there are 3 "worthy" potential playoff participants.

MCat - what a stunningly insightful analysis.  I stand thoroughly corrected.

Bob,

Can you explain that a couple hundred times...?  ;D

I now do not beleive the SCIAC has a chance to get 2 teams in.  The only scenario for that would have been 9-0 OXY and 8-1 UR.  That's a shame, because this appears to be Maynard's best team in the last few years, and they may be out in the cold due to some stupid penalties vs. OXY.

LOL Nobody goes to basketball games at Redlands...

Speaking of eyesores, does that mean ULV will be tearing down that riduculously ugly Circus tent?

OK.  I will drop it.  For this year anyway...
I hope it's a good game.

Actually, 1991 is not my Era - it is my brother's era.  I was there 99-01.  Either way there WERE in fact holdovers from a scholarship era.  If you can prove that there were only around 5 players left, I will drop it.  No doubt that team was good, because they beat a VERY strong UR squad, but I refuse to believe that there would be a minimal impact from those players.  Maybe you can provide a little more detail on this?  Regardless, Redlands v. CalWho may FINALLY live up to the billing the Who gave to the game every time we whipped them - "The SCIAC Showdown of the Year"  I'm not going to put a number on it yet.  The Dawgs still need to show up and dominate this week.  I think they will.

And I might remind you that CalWho still had scholarship holdovers from the NAIA days on that 1991 team, so you're not exactly making an even comparison.

Dawgs in a walk.  Phone it in!

How about the video of the finish in the Trinity v. Milsaps game.  Holy Cow that will be on Sportscenter.

I believe the tiebreaker is conference record, head to head, then overall record - but I could be wrong.  I beleive this has been discussed in the last few weeks.  there is a scenario in which league presidents or ad's would vote to choose the conference representative...but I don;t know how far down that comes into play.
