UTT has four guys (possibly 5) that are throwing 90+ but I don't know if they are on anyone's radar. Three seniors, two juniors.

92 is the new 88. MLB scouts look at projection and the radar gun, not stats. Numerous teams have guys how "can throw 90+", but how consistently, that's the key. Rochester (NY) had 2 this year.
I was walking past Dave Filak (Oneonta) back in 2010 when my son was a freshman and turned around when I heard the ball pop into the catchers mitt. I had no idea who he was, but did read up on him after seeing his name mentioned on the D3 boards a few times. He threw 94, got drafted that year in the 4th round. He was released this year.
All of them but one are big kids with a lot of upside (6-2 or taller). The hardest throwing one of the bunch is 6-4 185# Jr. and lives 92-94, but he seems to be fragile. He didnt pitch at all in the regional and only pitched sparingly over the last half of the season. I think a good strength and conditioning program could take care of that though.

Austin TX is basically like being in California. One of the best cities to visit in the U.S.

...except there's no beaches, mountains, deserts, etc.....!!
There is also no state tax and no unemployment rates in double digits.

I certainly don't mind visiting ATX, but ideologically I couldn't live in a place that blue (especially in Texas) or so overrun with Hipsters. And don't get me started on the MOPAC/I-35 traffic situation.

JSG
I'll second that. It's a little blue for my tastes too. Nearby San Antonio is also a great place to visit for those of you coming from out of state.

Didn't see PP AND TLU getting in. Also didn't see TU dropping to #5. I guess they didn't want the Texas or California teams playing each other in the first round.

LC puts away CTX 13-12 in 10 innings

Possibly the worst ump behind the plate I have seen this year, for both teams.

LC falls to TLU 4-1 in game one of ASC Tournament. UTT and Concordia coming up at 7.

BB,

I'm not sure what is going on, I don't get to attend the Saturday games very often due to my work schedule.

....back to games.

Trinity swept Austin, game 1 yesterday a mercy, today the complete the opposite pitchers dual with TU winning 2-0.

It is funny how teams develop over the season but a solid number 2 has emerged from the shadows at TU with Soph Speers. He is now 5-0 and leads the team in ERA at 1.6 something. They have had so many injuries I am not sure who would be 3-4-5 at this point. Back end of the bullpen is solid.

UTT takes 2-3 from Centenary. A player from Centenary sent me a text saying they played like crax and thought they should have beat UTT. (FWIW what player does NOT think this?) The team is split on who they think is better UTT vs TU. They think TU's number 1 is better, 1-9 they are better and UTT's no 2-3 pitchers are better. From the "put that in your pipe and smoke it" department.

Fun time of year.
Not quite the same take I got from one of the Gents players and a couple of the parents....

Wow lets all just chill. Some teams have travel budgets and are better endowed and can afford to put more into sports. Others do not. My son went to UTT. That program started athletics in 2004. UTT has been successful in baseball but they do not travel beyond bus range unless they make it to the regionals.

24 hours is bus range for teams in Massachusetts on their spring trip. That's why I asked whether schools out west get spring break.
You're right...not many D-III programs fly. But a lot of them bus for a long time at one point or another.

That link shows UT-Tyler as a sort of medium-budget program. (50-60k IIRC).

The ASC was playing conference games the week of spring break.
