To me, there are 9 players who are locks to be in the varsity rotation...

Guards
Dylan Overstreet, 6-3 Jr
Brady Zimmer, 6-4 Sr
Jordan Nelson, 6-1 Jr
Pat Sodemann, 6-3 Jr

Forwards
Andrew Ziemnik, 6-4 Sr
Victor Davis, 6-5 Sr
Eric Dortch, 6-3 Sr

Centers
Nick Anderson, 6-9 Sr
Mike Marietti, 6-8 So

Then, assuming a 10-man rotation (11 is too many in my opinion), it's just a matter of which 1 player from the following group will play...

PG Bryce Dolan, 6-0 So
SF Mike Mayberger, 6-5 Sr
PF Parker Musselman, 6-8 Jr

That final spot would seem to be wide open between the 3 above, and with IWU's positional versatility, it could legitimately be any of the 3.

TQ, with these 12 spots filled, who is your guess to fill out the remaining couple spots on the travel squad?

Also, how do you think IWU will handle all of these players? Do they completely split into 2 teams and separate into exclusively JV and Varsity. Do they begin to cut players? Practice only players? Looks like there is potential for a whole lot of drama the first couple weeks of the season...

Out of all of the recruits could anyone try to rank the top five CCIW recruits so far? In terms if hype, high school success, and potential. Obviously all of this can change because college is completely different.

A veritable cornucopia of guards in Turner, Amann, and now Barista. With both Wesleyan starters at guard being only sophomores this season, and backup Bryce Dolan just a freshman, are they now stockpiling guards in Bloomington the way they do bigs in Rock Island?   :-\

6-3 Jordan Turner from Woodstock seems to be a 2/3-type player.   A well respected Illinois HS talent evaluator wrote the following about him: "Very solid division 3 prospect with some athleticism and offensive ability. He's not exceptionally quick, but he is a strong athlete. Gets to the rim and finishes, can take some body contact and score through defenders at the rim. Aggressive. Can shoot it, but needs to add consistency."  I can see him being a slasher-type 3 at IWU, or a 2.    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tOYOE7zr4Y

I also found these links on Youtube. One showing his athleticism and the other a game winning shot against a team that was recieving votes in the 4A rankings:

Per Twitter, PG Austin Amann has committed to Illinois Wesleyan.

So far, to the public knowledge, Wesleyan now has landed two recruits:

CG Jordan Turner (Woodstock High School)
PG Austin Amann (Elk Grove High School)

Are there any incoming freshman that we know of that may make a big difference next year? I know it might be too soon but what CCIW teams are in need of a freshman that could potentially come in and take on a significant role?

My thoughts are that North Central should try to maybe get an impact big and maybe try to find a point guard that can shoot the ball a little. Wesleyan is in need of some guards that can help overstreet out and be able to get to the rim and shoot the ball. Augie will also be in search of some guards that can contribute because of their inconsistent guard play. Any other thoughts?  ???

I was at the game last night and loved the atmosphere! There was great support from each team and im sure it was much appreciated.

Now, in terms of what I believe Wesleyan needs to improve on in recruiting for next years team would be finding a guard or two that can play compete with Overstreet and Sodermann. These two can both shoot but can't finish around the rim. Last night Wesleyan was kept in the game by their bigs play and lost the game because of the lack of scoring from the guards.  :-\

Congrats to NCC on moving on and I believe they are the favorites to run the table. Represent CCIW!!

I know that Wesleyan and NCC are still in the tourney and this may be a little early to talk about, but does anybody know of any big recruits  that have CCIW written all over them. Im knew on the blog but have followed D3 basketball especially in the CCIW and am always interested in who ends up where.   ;)
