Too bad the Berg guys got toasted.   This week would have been fun.
I never got toasted - I'm just a newbie - just started following D3 football this year so I really don't post much.  Need to get more intelligent on these things before I post.

That being said - I predict Heidelberg will upset Mount Union this weekend - it will be a 3 point game and the Berg will pull it out!
- OK purple people go ahead and get your sticks and start beating on me  ;D

Seriously- from what I've read and seen - our defense definitely needs to step up this weekend.  Our offense is very explosive and capable of big plays.  Yes Brooks is slippery, but don't overlook our QB and receivers!

What are the chances that on November 16th at Mount Union Stadium the 9-0 Purple Raiders will be hosting the 9-0 John Carroll Blue Streaks? Lots of excitement in University Heights and these two teams have the two best QB's in the OAC.

Pretty slim because on November 9th, The Blue Streaks will pick up a loss at home to Heidelberg!   ;D

Bergdad - Although I agree with you, (both of those teams will be 8-1 at best when that game rolls around), you don't need to post that kind of stuff. Heidelberg will be doing their talking on the field and scoreboard this year. Let's just focus on Alma right now...we'll take it one game at a time.

Wait, what's that noise? I think I hear the Heidelberg Express pulling out of the station...LOOKOUT!

I meant it good naturedly - thus the  ;D

That's great news for the Berg.  It's always good to see OAC schools upgrading their facilities.

I do have one question though.  Why is the seating capacity only 1,200??  That's tiny.  That still leaves them in a distant last in the conference (Bernlohr is next at 3,000).  If you're going to spend the money and you're trying to take your program to the next level wouldn't you think that you need more seating than that?  I'm not saying you need to build a 5,000 seat stadium out of the gate, but wouldn't you think something like 2,500-3,000 makes more sense?

Not sure - but this is definitely an upgrade!  Maybe they are thinking about putting soemthignon the visitors side later??
I thought that was the visitor's side - just enough seats for the Mount fans.

Hehehehehe!

Here we go!... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pu7-vA891Uo&feature=youtu.be

..........well, that was 1:32 that I'll never get back.

I thought that video was pretty good!  Of course I'm a bit biased.

I helped my son move in yesterday.  As a freshman parent new to all of this I had to say it was pretty cool - the energy level at the Berg is high!  My son is really pumped about his new team and the whole college football experience.  Can't wait for Sept 7 and Alma!

Go Student Princes!

....was just kidding (well, a little).  As the parent of a Mount graduate, and former player, all I can say is "enjoy the ride".  It goes amazingly fast.  Just make sure to attend as many games as possible, and stay out of your kid's way (just some cheap advice).  Congratulations!

Thanks!  Very good advice!  I plan to go to as many games as possible - the beauty of the OAC and me living in Central Ohio is that Home or Away I don't think I will have to drive more than 2 hours for any game. - maybe a little over 2 hours to ONU.

I've always tried to let my son carve his own path.  I encourage him, and provide plenty of attaboys, but I've always let him be the one driving himself - I've seen too many kids get pushed by their parents where a sport is no longer fun for them.

Depending on where you live not even ONU should be too bad. It takes me a little over an hour from Dublin.  I was surprised myself.  Of course if you live over in Canal or the like it'd be a pain.

Best of luck to your son. Have fun watching him.

Thanks!  - We live on the Eastern edge of Newark- or as the local say, "Nurk"

BergDad:   Welcome aboard.   Don't let us purples scare you away.

Enjoy these exciting times at H'Berg.   Lord knows it's been a long time in coming.   I can only imagine the hope around the OAC and nation concerning the LK retirement.   If I was on the other side, I'd be looking forward to 2013 more than any season in the last 20+.    There is hope once again in places like Tiffin, Berea, U Heights, etc.   Albeit false hope  ;D

Thanks HS Coach - I was just kinda joking.  I can see you all have a little fun with each other.  Yes I am excited about 2013 and beyond!  My son will be a freshman this year so we are looking forward to 4 great years!  Go Berg!

I like Heidelberg at 14, could turn into a possible top 10 Clash of the OAC Titans on Nov. 2nd! A big showdown In Tiffin... where no one will be sittin'... and could this be the year... the scoreboard shows Heidelberg winnin'?

YaHoooo! Go Berg!

Ok. Berg has earned the right to have the "Heidi" tag taken off - but they have not earned the right to be considered a TITAN, OAC or otherwise. I am sorry if this rubs Berg fans, or any fans, the wrong way. I understand you are excited (and rightfully so) about the future. But for now, the OAC has "A TITAN". The TITAN holds a 24 game winning streak on the Berg (and almost everyone else - let the ONU posters start chiming in), holds 43-13 series edge, and the last time they did not win the OAC outright - Bergs class of  freshman had not yet been born - 21 straight. For the time being it must still be viewed as "David vs. Goliath and his 800 pound Gorilla". I will grant the Berg is on the way up and have a bright future - but the recent historical scoreboard has way to many "61, 63, 58 to 0, 10, 14" to warrant TITAN status. Maybe "titan"

Berg40- I want to jump in and help you - but I'm a newbie and these purple guys are brutal.  There's just so many of them!  I am excited for this year's season and especially Nov 2!  I can't wait and my boy can't wait!   ;D

18 days to report to camp, 42 days to Kickoff!

Go Berg!

Welcome to the board! We need more Berg fans.

By the way, I think you'll find in general we have higher expectations here than on OCF. :)

Thanks - and I'm good with higher expectations.  Love the site!  My son will be a freshman LB this fall at the Berg -  - so I'm a newbie here.  Glad to see this site - Thanks to TheBerg40 for turning me on to it!

And no offense to the Mount Fans - Thus the smiley face.  They represent the OAC well by winning National Championships and while I'll be a Berg fan first, I'll be rooting for all OAC teams in the playoffs!

Check this out! Heidelberg is #1 for the best fans and best game day experience in 2012.

http://www.ohiocollegefootball.com/members/ocf/comm/READ/00002499/my-2012-football-awards.html

Shows you how laughable that website is.  I guess it might a better "experience" but the berg stadium/ old, ricketty soccer field is not so great comparex to the old place.   Theres no way their dozens of fans are the best.  I wish Big Mike all the best but come on

Geez PurpleSuit! The guy who wrote that is just calling it as he sees it. I'm sorry you don't agree with him.

Agreed.  He never claimed to be anyone official.  He just said these were his picks- his opinion.  He went to 21 games in one season and was posting what he felt were the best and worst.  He's not even a Berg Fan.  He's entitled to his opinion.

You Mount guys are rough!   :)
