WARHAWKS: 82
Beloit: 70

Beloit looked very competitive last night.  The final score is deceiving in that, while the WARHAWKS led for the entire game, for the majority of it the lead was in single digits and when it did hit double figures the Buccaneers quickly reduced it to the 4-6 point range.  The lead only reached double figures and remained there in the final couple of minutes.  We just couldn't put them away.  Cody Risseeuw led Beloit with 18 points but 14 of them came in the first half.  Defensively we were able to control him in the second one.  Sam Noyce finished with 14 points.  His ability to dribble penetrate gave us some problems.  Free throws were the difference.  Beloit's 22 fouls put us on the line 23 times and we made 16 of them.  Our 13 fouls only led to Beloit attempting 5 free throws of which 3 were successful.

I don't know that much about the Midwest Conference but my perception is that if Beloit plays like they did last night they should be very competitive and win some games.

GC will get a taste of BC on Friday night. Sounds like it could be a great game! GC toughed out a super-tight game with Simpson on Tues - basically 2 pt game most of the way. Super impressed with Simpson's play.

BC beats GC, 99 to 98.

The most mystifying game I think I've ever seen GC play. They commanded the game from the beginning, led by as much as 21 through much of the 2nd half. Then inexplicably, GC goes into a slow-down game with 6 minutes left and fritters away its lead. Don't understand why the slowdown kept going after it was obvious it wasn't working. Frustrating loss. Team played great until then.

Just gotta ask: what happens if (heaven forbid) GC wins both of its tourney games? Does SNC go on, or out?

Or MC....   ;)
I was wondering when you would chime in ;D

Nice win by GC over MC last night. Scottie, was the MC team sick or something? They looked kinda...out of it.

St Norbert wins 99-86 in a game that was tied at 86. Valiant effort by Grinnell. I would say they gave the Knights everything they could handle today.

A nailbiter until about the 2:30 mark. Wonder what the shooting percentage is? Not like yesterday's, and yet they really made SNC work for it.

SNC 54 GC 51 at the half. GC is not shooting lights out like yesterday...yet.

Vis a vis the Grinnell shooting this afternoon: WOW!

Julian Marx and Luke Yeager had a very good day, indeed.

Hey Scottie - look which 2 teams are playing for the tourney...  ;D

GC 122 RC 115. Grinnell moves on to (probably) tackle SNC for a 3rd time this year. Phenomenal shooting by GC led the way; the lead at one point was 21, although RC really fought back hard in 2nd half to narrow it. Great game.

GC will most likely take RC. It is my fervent hope that CC takes SNC, and if not, they *really* tire them out!

Assuming Grinnell beats Lawrence on their home court, it looks like Grinnell will end up playing Carroll in the 1st round of the tourney, and St. Norbert in the 2nd round. Déjà vu all over again.

IF Grinnell beats Lawrence, and IF St. Norbert beats Ripon, and IF Grinnell beats Carroll, then of course.  Personally, I wouldn't make a bet on those probabilities.  But I'm risk averse.   ;)
LU beat GC at home; so you can bet that GC is gunning for LU in Darby.
