Personally, I couldn't care less who the VB coach was. Schram's record is thanks to a terrible conference in the GSAC minus a handful of decent teams in the last 5-10 years.
The College needs to invest in athletics, first. Set the example.
The FB makes up roughly 10% of the student body. Budgets within the athletics department have not been reflective of that and should be. I'm not saying cut others, I'm saying show football the love it deserves...start with a new scoreboard that we don't have to worry if it'll work on game days.

Welcome 98.
No word on candidates yet, but they've seem to finalize the search committee.

New President, temporary AD, no football coach. What could go wrong?
After a 3-7 season, what difference does it make?
Tom Bogart couldn't raise a dollar unless it was from someone's estate; from what I heard Hayes has been AWOL; Schram has been too worried about taking soccer teams to Italy and volleyball teams to Costa Rica to help give Cooper a facelift. The football locker room only has space for 60 guys...

Wow. Guilford and Bridgewater cutting Math as a major. I can think of at least 5 "majors" that should be axed well before Mathematics—but that wouldn't be politically correct. Welcome to educational priorities in the 21st Century, I guess.

Long time, no post. But here's some news: Shaun Hayes resigned today. New president seems to be pro-athletics. Hopefully we get someone good.
On a related note, our volleyball coach/AD will become just a volleyball coach effective Nov 30. Hiring a full time AD. Thank. God.

CNU tried to schedule a game with MC at 7 pm once. The suggestion did not go over well. 8+ hour bus rides tend to relegate kickoffs to between 12-2.

But while on the subject of tailgating, 2 things:
1. People literally show up on Wednesday afternoons during practice to stake tents in the ground and claim their area. That's dedication.
2. I don't know why the athletics department does it, but every year at Homecoming there is a volleyball game and soccer game on campus AT THE SAME TIME AS THE FOOTBALL GAME. The campus is already packed. Why spread fans out? Have them come to the tailgate and into the stadium and fill it to the brim. It's always irked me, especially this year for the bicentennial.

On your number 2, Mount Union does that also. Drives me crazy too!
We do the same, I always wondered that as both a player and fan. I couldn't support other clubs because of the game or other clubs couldn't support us. Then as aforementioned, fans are spread out, which definitely kills what the stadium could be.
IWU does (or at least did - don't know today) the same also. Worked out well for me in 2010. The football game was a bore (we were up 28-0 at the half, and it could have been worse), so I just wandered over to the soccer pitch, where nationally-ranked IWU (women) were hosting also ranked Carthage - a MUCH better game!
It's at minimum a couple hundred less people at the game. It's a decent chunk of the student- athlete pool that never experienced a Homecoming game atmosphere. Even when we were bad, tons of people showed up for homecoming. Special time for a special place, but I guess we'd all say that about our alma maters.

Haven't been to Brevard yet either, but they play at the local high school. Wouldn't get my hopes up.

Best tailgate location in the USAC?
I'm biased, but MC is probably at the top of the list. Right there at the gate. 15 yards from the fence to the goal post. Straight forward view to the scoreboard (that needs to be replaced). Not the biggest, but the best.

We played at Huntingdon Week 1 of my senior year and they put partitions up in the weight room to serve as the locker room. I've been in far worse facilities. At least we didn't have a MRSA scare after the game...
