Check out https://www.boxcast.com. It's a pretty cool little startup company in the Cleveland area that seems to solve many of the problems with live streaming games to the masses.  It was actually started by a few students out of Case and it's only $300 for one of these little streaming boxes (I don't think that is too big of an investment for UMU to make).  I noticed that this is what BW used in its live stream of the game against the 'berg.

What a cop out by the OAC giving Co-Coach of the Year, Co-Assistant of the Year, and Co-First Team All OAC quarterbacks.

Make a decision.

I'm interested to see what the BW gameplan is this week.  In years past we've tried to pound the ball because we felt that the interior d linemen and inside linebackers were mount's weak point.  We also would try to pepper in some sweeps and stretch plays to get those guys running.  (And it almost worked in 2011)

After watching mount shut down Brooks last week though I can't imagine that BW could think that this is still a viable strategy.  The BW passing game has been nothing shy of horrendous this year though, so I can't see them putting the game in the hands of their QBs......  ??? could be a tough one this weekend

Here's to hoping that Mount is looking ahead to the JCU game and BW comes out strong!

I realize that the shovel-fumble was a terrible call, but did anyone else notice LK run right onto the field to argue with the refs about it?  I have to feel like if that was an AD from any other college that would be a 15 yarder..

I think Coach Hallet will finally have his guys ready to play (It takes a couple years for a team to believe that it's even possible to beat Mount).  And if Berg can come out an play some smashmouth football straight down the field with their running game to really start believing I think they'll have a chance to pull out a victory.  I'm sure the players believe they can win going into the game, but it's not until you score that first touchdown that the whole team seems to have that "aha" moment and really start believing.  At least that's what I felt the pulse of the teams that I played on.

I also think if Mount gets a few 3 and outs to start the game paired with 10-17 points of their own Berg will fold.

I'll go with 'Berg - 24 Mount - 20

How about 2011 BW vs. Mount?

Not a huge comeback in terms of points, but a pretty damn good game.  BW comes back from being down 19-0 at half to take a 20-19 lead with under 2min remaining.  Mount throws 35+ yard TD pass on 4th and 13 over NEARLY perfect coverage with 40ish seconds left.

From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows for a BW senior

Traditional Friday reminder to get your picks in.

And if you can't get them in tonight, it's only three points ... get the rest in by noon tomorrow.

Hi mr_mom,

Is there a way that I can still enter this pool?

After reading what they have to say in "Kickoff" about the OAC, they are definitely high on B-W going into the season. This has me thinking... Could Heidelberg and B-W both be 9-0 and playing for the OAC title when they meet the last week of the season? :o

Wow that would be Awesome for the OAC and DIII football!

Being an arrogant Mount fan, I don't think the Raiders will lose a conference game this year.  But for the sake of speculation how about this:  Coming off a hard fought win over Heidelberg, Mount falters the next week against BW.  The following week BW, having won their super bowl, comes out flat and gets handled by the Berg.  We now have three 9-1 teams.  How does that work out for the OAC and the playoffs?  If all plays out as per the script, the last three weeks of the season should be very exciting.

As one of the arrogant posters, I would remind everyone that the last time there was a three way tie, Mount got the playoff berth as defending national champs.  Not sure how it would play out this year, but that was what happened the last time we lost a game in the pre, I mean, regular season!  I believe there are some Polar Bears out there that are still a little chapped about that.

The last time there was a three-way tie, though, there weren't any automatic bids and the NCAA took whomever they wanted. This year the conference would have to decide who their AQ is and hopefully they'll be better prepared than they were for the possibility in 2005, when the conference office thought it could pass off that responsibility to the NCAA committee.

They could get notes from the NCAC office on breaking ties.  We are awesome at it.

In the event of a tie, each team will be required to sacrifice a bull to the Division III football gods, cooking the meat over an open flame, and whichever flame's smoke reaches highest into the sky will represent the school in the Division III playoffs.

Steel Cage Death Match pitting the head coaches of the tied teams, survivor wins the conf.

My money's on Hallet.  Little old Snelly boy wouldn't stand a chance.

Had to post a video of a professional athlete doing GOOD - instead of the crap the national media (yes ESPN that is directed at you) focuses on. Would like to see more of these getting coverage.

Nice to see Pierre understands that being a good man - is just as important (if not more) as being a good athlete.

On the Cecil front (and I guess still on the Pierre front as well):
http://www.rantsports.com/fantasy/2013/08/14/fantasy-feud-2013-pierre-garcon-vs-cecil-shorts/

Very interesting links- thanks for sharing.
The rantsports fantasy article is really cool- 2 former Mt receivers being compared for Fantasy points- IMO that's when a player knows he's made it.
I understand Mt fans might be reluctant to comment on the Pierre vs Cecil comparison, but for those who aren't I'm interested in your opinions. Limiting the discussion to Fantasy points is a good way to get around direct comparisons of the two.
Having seen both of them play vs UWW I'd have to say I feared Pierre more, but Shorts was so versatile.  Is it fair to say Pierre was a bigger "big play" threat while Cecil was a constant unstoppable? (I recall his crisp route running in the 2009 Stagg- couldn't be stopped).

The other difference from a UW-W perspective is that Cecil was well respected as a good guy.

Is that because Pierre beat UWW more often than not?  Or was it his "Mount Union arrogance" that rubbed UWW the wrong way?  I guess you could argue that Cecil was a better player, but to say that Pierre is not a good guy is laughable.

It certainly wasn't about Pierre beating UW-W. UW-W beat him in the last game of his collegiate career and he had all of 4 catches for 30 yards. That game didn't change the team opinion of him. Nate Kmic on the other hand scored 3 TD's and is very highly respected in these circles as is Cecil. In fact, as are almost all of the Purple Raiders and certainly LK.  The "Mount Union" arrogance I refer to is almost exclusively among the fans on this board and does not seem to seep into the program itself. I think when Pierre was in college, he was one of those guys who went beyond competing and into taunting against his opponents. I know he flapped his jaw a lot.  Maybe it was a UW-W thing. I have no doubt the defensive guys made it clear he didn't intimidate them. Maybe he wasn't used to that.

Could not agree more.  The Mount Union arrogance I see that comes from many of the posters here is unbelievable.  They are the best (probably ever) and that's great, but come on.  Every single game is not just a given for Mount.  I'm not sure if/when many of you played, but I'm guessing (correct me if I'm wrong) it was before this reign of dominance even began.  The other place that I see the most arrogance in the Mount program is the "players" that never saw a down, but were simply on the team.

Every Mount Union alum that I have met in recent years that got significant playing time is nothing but respectful to (most of) the rest of the OAC.  They don't seem to think that Mount can just show up and win every game, as many of the posters here seem to think.  They realize that many of their wins were hard fought and they very well could have lost, but the thing is they didn't and that is why they are so great.  Especially in the case of BW I have never once heard a player say that BW wasn't one of the hardest hitting teams and one of the most difficult games of the year, including playoffs.  They know the emotion that goes into every game and they know the preparation.  Most on this board simply do not.

As a side note: Heidelberg is going to have a great team this year and excitement should be high! A little good natured ribbing of the Mount posters is needed on here.  If this is a Mount Only board make it a Mount Only board.  Until that happens Go Jackets! Looking forward to a great season of competition!

Hi guys. New poster, but have been following the boards for a while.

Hopefully I'll be able to stick up for my Jackets on here every once in a while, instead of reading about how good Mount and Heidelberg are all year.  If I remember correctly BW had a field goal blocked that would have beaten the berg last year when the berg had ohh so much more on the line.  I also remember two years ago when MY TEAM was about 45 seconds from beating Mount Union.  I don't think many teams if any can say that they have held a lead on Mount three years in a row and going ahead 20-19 on 4th and goal at Mount Union is something I will never forget.  More importantly, that miraculous ball that Denton caught is something that those seniors haven't forgotten.  Moral of the story: don't sleep on the Jackets this year.

Anyways... To chime in on the Cecil vs Pierre discussion: I never had a chance to play Pierre but did see him in person a few times, while I played Cecil three times in my career.  From what the older guys said Pierre was simply a freak.  The most talented and the most physical player every time he stepped on the field.  Cecil was more of a technician in our eyes.  Not as physically dominant as Pierre, but extremely fast and a terrific route runner.

Honestly, the consensus around the team was that Cecil would not make it in the NFL because "he was no Pierre."  He sure has proved us wrong.

Hopefully Josiah Holt can put up some numbers this year like the ones that we saw from these two and earn the first name status of Cecil and Pierre.  The kid is extremely talented and one of the most driven individuals that I have ever met.  BW will expect a lot from him this year and he will deliver.
