Although not a basketball topic, it seems appropriate to mention here that Augie's legendary football coach Bob Reade passed away on July 5th at age 87.

Sorry to learn of the passing of Coach Reade. What a legendary coach. His tenure at Augie will never be surpassed. Rest In Peace Coach.

Schafer is kind of an underwhelming choice. I expected a more high profile hire given the history of the program. Of the 2 finalists I would have preferred Jim Thomas. Nevertheless I wish the new coach much success.

Augie fans knew something was up when it became clear Augie was not getting any recruits. Coach G is a big loss, but probably a well timed decision given Augie's returning talent is pretty unimpressive. Hopefully Augie BB will not go the way of a Augie FB after Coach Reade retired. Hopefully a quality replacement will be found, who can endure a few lean years till better players can be recruited.

A real important road win for Augie. The Vikings have played really well the last few games, but a huge game with first place NCC is up next. Looking forward to that fame.
Always good to beat IWU, but looking to the future Augie's success is almost totally dependent on seniors, while IWU is doing well overall with underclassmen. Experience prevailed tonight.
Coach G will really be challenged to win next year with the less than stellar non senior returning players. It makes the McDonald kid's departure because of lack of playing time very puzzling. He would been a sure starter at PG next year.
In the meantime Viking fans can hopefully enjoy the final games of their solid senior class.

Augie got a nice road victory at Wheaton tonight. Wheaton always gives the Vikings a challenge, so good to get a critical road win. Final 79-68.

Augie wins 73-54 at North Park, but it was well into the 2nd half before they took charge of the game. NPU led at half time and was up by 8 at around the 14 minute mark of the second half.

The defection of Jack McDonald is a real blow to Augie's future. He was considered the prize recruit in this year's freshman class and was getting quite a bit of playing time for a freshman in the CCIW. Seems like he might be a bit of a prima donna or maybe GG yelled at him too harshly.

Congrats to NCC and Coach Thorne, who carries on the tradition of excellence in coaching handed down to him by his legendary father.John.

Augie 65-63 win. Carroll had a chance to win down one, but one of their best FT shooters missed the front end of a 1 and 1 with 6 seconds to go.

Any win over a WIAC team is a good win, but this year's UW Whitewater team looks to be the weakest in years.

Augie beats Calvin 70-67. Micah Martin had a huge game.

Micah Martin was back on the court tonight and played well, as did Wofford and Tribble. Alma made the Augie win a little tougher than expected.

Bartmann looks like he needs to lose a lot of weight and to improve his mobility to be a competitive player in the CCIW, but you can't coach big, so best of luck to the young man.

An absolutely incredible performance by Francis. I have always believed one player cannot win a game singlehandedly, but this game kind of disproved that theory. So glad the Final Four fans will get a chance to see such unbelievably talented player.
