What happened to Lax recruiting class? Some are missing?

Wow...great night for UWW hoops (men and women)! The men destroyed the Titans in Oshkosh in a top 10 bout, while the women hit a buzzer beater to upset the Titans in Whitewater. Well done 'Hawks!!!!

A few days later and UWRF hits a couple of W's with last second shots. WIAC! You never know what your going to get, but typically a battle!

FF. We have a different view on the reffing. It is hard. I'm sure I'd make mistakes. Just imagine you out there. You hardly ever see a bad call. Best refs, you don't notice and can talk to coaches.

The problem with reffing is that's it's hard and they are going to make mistakes. Consistency is all any coach looks for. If you see a foul type on one side you want to see it on the other. Problem rotation. That's not his area this time. Now it feels like a call made one way is not on the other side. Refs like to be right. For instance, last nights game. Smart decision. Missed ft, ww secure rebound, ref blew dead thinking 2 shot foul. Oops 1/1. Ww ball right, nope ref decides jump ball. What coach wouldn't be mad. Ball goes to other team. I've seen many games where you see a ref never blow the whistle for a team. How is that possible? Here's my bigger issue. These aren't volunteers. They are selected and paid. There should be some self evaluations. Miss the mark, can't get better , next guy up. We have too many bad refs.

Would we say then 8 quality wins, 9 quality losses? It's ok. As I said, I hope this trend continues. Not remembering last year as much, did we have a Wiac team that could have been considered? I remember thinking we were a 1 team at bid because of l's.

Happy that 3 WIAC teams got in. But certainly surprised. I would always like to get 3 in. It is a tough league. However, Dave, your argument is right on. You have 8 quality wins, but lose 10 games. How do you ignore the losses. Many of them were not quality losses. Slippery slope the NCAA committee took here and I can understand why there would be questions. Of course, there are always teams on the bubble that are left out. It's like reffing be consistent.  I would hate to sit in a room at the table saying, well I feel they are a better team.  You could argue well maybe that feeling was from the game against UWO and Calvin earlier in the year. I'm sure that wasn't the case, but picks like this make a guy wonder. I just hope that in the future the team I route for gets looked at and put in the tournament with 10 losses. Good luck to all the teams that made it. Have fun! Enjoy, play your hearts out!

Going to be tough. 10 L's is 10 L's.  We will find out a a short time. Good Luck today to all those WIAC bubble teams!

Tough game. It was a battle on the inside and a battle by both teams. Throw out the records in the WIAC, there are no gimme's. Probably the one of the worst reffing performances I have seen for both teams. It looks like refs are going to allow a lot of grabbing, holding, physical play on the inside. Unfortunately, not as much for Falcon posts.  It will be another battle on Sat.

UWO needs to win it. UWEC is in trouble. 50/50 they get in.

Well, if you roll through the WIAC. That's probably a good gauge. Especially, in a tough year, where the WIAC teams won most non conf games. It's always tough to win it all, for whoever makes it in NCAA's. In the WW game RF had 6 players with 8 points or more. Seems to have a number of offensive weapons they could go to. If WW can make a run, I'm guessing RF can and another WIAC team. Not sure if we will get 3, but certainly one of the toughest conferences out there!

I watched almost all of the River Falls - Whitewater game the other night.  It felt like WW had a strong offense, but not the kind of defense that typically means a long tourney run; whereas RF really seemed solid on defense and good enough on offense.  Neither one looked like a team that would challenge for Salem, but WW really looked like a team that could either make a surprise run or lose the first game.

To be fair, the last week or so, Whitewater's two best players have either not played or played with the flu.

River Falls is anyone's guess. They've basically rolled through the WIAC. Outside of the WIAC, they beat St. Thomas to open the season and then lost to Hope, so no real gauge there since they were both very early. I'm not sure if they'll freeze in the bright lights of the NCAA tourney or not. I mean, the last time they were in the tourney, they lost to Edgewood at home in the 1st round.

He was also frustrated with (and has complained officially about physical nature of RF players being allowed to be physical because they are so strong.)  Thought that RF should be rated #1 in country.

That is funny. Refs started the game not blowing the whistle, at all, with some obvious ones.  Both teams could have used one. Stout was as physical as UWRF and competed. UWRF is much deeper. Stout Big, I think #3, was walking down the court with hands on head, trying to get air and then to his knees. He needed one, there just wasn't anyone there.

Exactly! Not in the plan. Well, I believe philosophy was used...

Most teams have had a transfer or 2 come in. It's not that big of a deal and most are not happy where they are. They are not even in the coaches recruiting plan.  I can only imagine. Player- Hey coach, I'm so and so and play at UWM and I'm thinking about transferring? Coach- I'm sorry we don't take transfers! I wouldn't say it's a recruiting plan, but it just happens. With some programs more than others.

Video I saw shows a good chuck on catch!  Judgement call. No call on foul. I'm ok on that. Like you said it's probably why delmore got to line. The way they were calling.  On time ,grabbed ball on base line, maybe should have let it go out of bounds. Horn went off around bench after getting around d. Could have been early, but how much?.3, .4, .5. Not sure what refs would have done. Weird angle for clock guy. Don't think intentional.

Rf point game. I thought a foul should have been called on initial catch with Herink. Definite push. On drive solid d. However, with 13 sec left, Erickson is stealing pass and was going In for layup. Foul was called for point to take the lead on ft's. I wasn't sure that was a foul.
