3 Wabash All-Americans! That's pretty great to see, especially Buresh's first-team spot! I do have to admit I feel like Scola might have deserved a higher spot, and disappointed to not see both Wabash kickers on the list. I thought it was odd that te JCU guy kicker didn't receive any accolades either.

Who picks the teams, and what is normally the criteria for selection?

But Pat did a great job with the pregame show!

So now that a little time has passed after the season, (and this is mainly for the wallies) what are your thoughts on the season? Who were the MVPs of the team? Surprise players? Let downs? Most promising for the future? Players that will be missed the most?

besides Scola (I think he'd be a locked 1st teamer) is there anyone from Wabash who could see as a member of one of the four All-American teams?

First Team:

Wabash - DE Cody Buresh, LB Nate Scola
Wittenberg - OT Aaron Coeling, S Mark Swope
Wooster - ST Shawn Bowman

Second Team:

Wabash - K Ian MacDougall, P Cam Sobleski
Wittenberg - WR Brendon Cunningham, ST Victor Banjo, LB Spencer Leno

So I don't mean to look down on the return kid from wooster, and since I'm new to all this, how are they selected. Since bowman wasn't even ncac first team. How did that work? Also, any surprises besides Florence? I thought one, if not both Wabash special teamers could have been 1st. When does all-American stuff come out?

Go Witt! Florence and company. Including a pretty darn good defense, will need to be on their game, but I would love to see the NCAC team deep in the tournament!

Going back to our hillbilly brethren on this board. I have a sneaking suspicion that he may be a father of a now ex-player, whoever you may be. Please, stop writing this stuff. Granted you have your opinion, but it's embarrassing to read and have your represent Wabash.

Oh, and thank you all for commenting on my thought. I wasn't arguing for it. It was just a thought.
I appreciate all of your insight.

Go NCAC!

Congrats to Witt.

I was mulling this over, and I know I'll get chewed up for this, but l have a thought about the aq process. What if D3 did the same thing that the bcs did. As in, if you are an aq and not in the top 25 you shouldn't receive the automatic bid. Then, you get the best teams.

Thoughts?

Last time we will see the ER show this year. It's a pretty good one this week. I always enjoy the work that Brent Harris, Adam Bowen, and their crew do for the shows and the games.

All-Conference comes out tomorrow (Thursday). What are you picks for Wabash guys and the rest of the conference? Do you think anyone from the NCAC could be All-Region or All-American? I was thinking Florence had a pretty good shot, but that's based on watching his performance against the Wabash D a couple weeks ago. Also, I may think of giving Sobleski a nod towards that as well. He has a pretty good punt average, plus he reached 10 fair catches and over 20 punts inside the 20.

Now I do think it's possible this was an off-the-cuff remark that is being interpreted far too literally; as Keith said on another thread related to this discussion, we are putting a single comment from a 30-minute conversation with a tired guy who may or may not be a particularly polished public speaker under a very, very fine microscope, and I think he may have just made somewhat of a loose remark that reflected his observation of how the process unfolded rather than meaning that they actually discussed how many teams from each region got in.

See, this just doesn't make sense to me. God bless Keith and Frank--seriously--but what does it matter that he's not a polished speaker or that he made a "loose remark...about how the process unfolded"? As if that's some sort of defense for the process? You want him to be more sophisticated at rhetorical legerdemain and subterfuge? Like: "c'mon guys, if he'd known better he would've just not engaged with HOW THINGS ACTUALLY WORK." Weird.

I apologize, I wasn't trying to minimize your argument. All I was trying to say was stop spending the time talking back and forth with other Wabash men. Wabash taught you to take the bull by the horns on these issues, so I actually meant contact the Chairman and try to get him to explain himself. I know that won't happen. Wabash got screwed by the selection committee, just like it does almost every week with NCAC officials. But us complaining on here is not going to change anything. Find a way to change this monstrosity. Nothing will really happen on here though. SO let's talk about the team that we are all passionate about and get on with out lives.

I just don't see this as an exercise in complaining so much as journalism.

Fair enough. I'll back off.

I think it's about time to close up shop on this conversation. Wabash had one heck of a season. The program has now been elevated to the point that 9-1 an a Monon Bell isn't a dream season anymore. Of course I feel Wabash should have made the tournament. We all realize that there are flaws to the selection committee (not trying to start anything). However, our complaining on here is not going to suddenly have the Ncaa drop Sjf and put the wallies back in the tournament. Call your congressman, sign a petition, or Write a letter to te chairman if you feel so inclined as to inform him of your disapproval. But continuously complaining on here is going to do nothing, but divert attention away from one of Wabash's best teams in its history. The seniors went 37-6 with 4 bells. The team is extremely young. Needing replacements only for two linemen, special teams, a wide receiver, and linebacker (big hole there) the team has a chance to be brilliant next year. Lets talk about the season the team had this year or will nave next.

One thing I have noticed that was not touched on. Kyle Najar, former Db and DBs coach for the Little Giants, left his position on Sunday to begin his training to pursue a career as a navy seal. I just wanted to recognize him and give everyone a little perspective.

If this stuff hadn't been discussed here, it wouldn't have been discussed at all. And why shouldn't it be? The NCAA is a capricious black box at all levels, and just because this site has a higher proportion of school officials and the like than, say, the visitors to ESPN.com, shouldn't mean that the NCAA is excused from having to explain itself--not that they ever do. They make statements. Statements like, "Now let's get back to discussing the field! Nothing to see here!". Meh. There's been some complaining and whingeing, but mostly there's been excellent reportage and commentary. And it's on a message board instead of the front page. That's cool. When/If something like this happens at a higher level, there will be hell to pay.

Also, again if no one picked upon it....Kudos to Najar.

Gentlemen, it's been fun reading your stuff all season long. It's been nice getting back into Wabash football for the first time since my son graduated. I only have a few questions that came to mind. One, would the committee ever look at how these teams matched up statistically with the rest of the country? Or would that sort of thing just indicate the whole SOS deal.

Secondly, who from Wabash and (I guess) the rest of the conference should make up the All-Conference team? Is there anyone from the NCAC who deserves an All-American nod? Sorry for going all season in review already.

One last thing, Nate Scola may have lost his cool sometimes this season. But I have never seen a guy who fires up and fights for his team like this young man. I hope to see big things from him and the other seniors in the future.
