Can someone explain to me how the Quakers will make the playoffs ?

November 02, 2015, 09:16:16 AMQuote from: tigerFanAlso2 on November 02, 2015, 08:31:02 AMFrom an outsider it always seems to me that GC always tries to run up scores and pad stats when possible. Especially on weaker teams and out of conference weak schedule. This was a game that GC couldn't stop CUA so the stat line got padded because of poor defense on both sides. GC has the stats but it might take a miracle to get a ring. Very frustrating for GC. Marty Favret & Co. have owned GC for years but not sure about this year. HSCTiger fan can elaborate on HSC dominance over GC !
If GC beats HSC and finishes 9-1, I'll pull for them to get a pool C (they will not) but if they do it is certainly an advertisement
to schedule really weak OOC opponents.
It appears W&L played its best game last week, congrats. I don't know how to address the GC vs. CUA game. Did either defense dress for the game ? Did they decide to play 7 on 7 ? How in the he## can two teams score that many points. Must have been fun to watch.
HSC played its best game of the year, I thought. Few mistakes, offense was effective, defense was outstanding.
And yes,RMC is pulling the same trick they do every year, get better towards the end of the season and try to make its season by beating HSC.

HSC fans you had another good season in conference play. Also what a great moral victory by your defense after the first quarter ! Wow ! I know the score don't indicate this but your defense really stepped up on a very athletic team. It seems your defense played on a short field most of the first Quarter. Your underclassmen and Seniors on defense have to feel pretty good today for finishing the game so competitively against much better athletes than they see in the ODAC . The offense on the other hand looked like a victim of "Marty ball". The poor man doesn't have the personnel to throw the deep ball but he continues to do it every series ! It was a recipe for disaster with the athletes Wesley puts on the field. I really feel sorry for your QB. Nance's athleticism and strong arm may of helped you win the ODAC but it was a detriment in your losses because of your coaches play calling. Favret puts him in no win situations throwing deep balls into heavy coverage over and over . I'm really not sure if Favret may not be a good enough coach to upset a better team or teams with better coaching and athletes. HSC recruits really good players but the coaches in the ODAC are better now and may be "knocking at the door" to end Favret's reign. Favret is so predictable with his downfield passing and trick plays that every ODAC team and all the head coaches may be getting wiser at defending his offenses. HSC had a great run these last few years but the tide may turn soon. Congratulations on winning the ODAC ! But I will say that yesterday was no surprise to any of us watching and listening to "Martyball" ! Sorry but I speak the truth guys. Most of you HSC posters defend your team (which you should ) but I'm just stating the facts and it is only my opinion.

HSC posters, first let me say that I mean no harm against your players or your team. It is just my opinion and my opinion only that your HSC line is very inexperienced and not as good as in years past. Losing an All American last year at Tackle and experienced lineman with only one returner ? would usually spell doom in the ODAC. Im sure your kids have improved and give it their all every game. It was only my assessment on complimenting your QB on his talents. I sincerely apologize because there was no intent to hurt kids. You guys won back to back ODAC titles no matter what my opinion is on this subject. You guys deserve the championship. I just felt your QB was special. And I thought your 3 losses exposed your inexperienced line on Offense and Defense. I also forgot to mention that Favret probably had bad gameplans in your losses. He refuses to run the ball . With that said , good luck in the playoffs. Congrats on back to back ODAC titles !

Guys I'll give you an honest answer and the ODAC championship was decided for this reason. HSC won the games it was supposed to win. They have the best player in the ODAC in QB Nance. HSC may have the weakest OL & DL in the ODAC. But they still won. In both of HSC losses BW and RMC hit Nance on almost every pass play. BW and RMC won because they neutralized Nance by attacking HSC weak OL. Most QB's in our conference could not take the kind of beating Nance takes every game . But he played great against E&H and GC. Without Nance this year HSC would win maybe 3 conf games ? HSC defense has 1 sack in all of ODAC play. But they are the champs. HSC also has Walker too that can change a game at any time. Pawlowski has great stats but Nance was just better every time they played heads up. Naccarato is 2-1 against Nance but Nance won the game that mattered last year for the ODAC championship. Guilford had their chance at HSC last week. The truth is that this kid was really good. I'm sure all the ODAC coaches would agree. Back to back ODAC championships prove my point . Kudos to BW and RMC on figuring out how to stop him. Shame on GC and E&H for not being able to stop him. I do not see HSC getting within 3 TD's of any good playoff team. Poor OL play and weak pass rush dooms HSC in playoffs.

After watching GC vs HSC yesterday I do not see HSC (if they beat RMC) doing much in the playoffs. I've never seen a good team like HSC that seldom pressures the opposing QB. HSC is dead last in sacks in the ODAC. Maybe they don't have the personnel. I think it's size in this case. I would use some of that speed to blitz occasionally. I know the HSC posters will think I'm bashing but it's just my opinion. You have a great team. Whoever represents the ODAC I will pull for them in the playoffs. It gives us all confidence that we can compete Nationally.

Ok Quakers here's the scouting report from very knowledgeable BW connections and a BW parent . BW coaches watched a lot of Wabash vs HSC game film to come up with a perfect gameplan. HSC has a below average OL for a good team ( HSC has given up the most sacks in the ODAC with a very athletic QB ) Keep Constant blitz pressure on QB Nance. HSC coach is very impatient. He doesn't run the football. You have to Double team WR Walker. Zone other WR's. Keep HSC WR's in front of you. Control clock by keeping ball with scores (if possible). HSC defense plays bend but don't break but seldom pressures the opposing QB.( least amount of sacks in ODAC ) A good QB (Pawlowski ) will have ample time to throw to open WR's. Control clock by keeping ball with scores (if possible) .You can power run and complete short passes. HSC corners are aggressive but do not have shut down abilities. Perimeters and Middle of field is open on quick pass plays. HSC slow and small defensive lineman can be exploited. HSC Favret is impatient and will call long pass play calls every series . Wabash and BW both had same gameplan and beat HSC easily. Do not get in shoot out with them ! Your chances of winning will go down considerably . HSC mentality is long throw after long throw. The key is to exploit the weak OL and lack of running game and control clock. Easier said than done but 2 Teams have done this and beat HSC. There's no question that they have great offensive skill players but the key is to take their strengths away. Good luck Quakers ! (FYI it was also reported that Nance & Walker were injured in last game but not sure the extent of injuries.)

Sorry guys I'm not buying GC sandbagging. CUA is bad this year. GC likes to run up scores and stats on the merciless . This game gets ugly early and often. GC season on line next 2 weeks playing the 2 best teams in ODAC.

This years Catholic team is just not very good. I hope it turns around for them next year. With W&L and RMC down too it makes for easier predictions without the chance of upsets. E&H is much better with new coach , better players and gameplan. BW seems to always be good upfront but not enough skilled guys to make a difference. BW is always close to being dominant but cant get over the hump since early 2000's glory years. GC is better this year and seems to be improving every year. GC puts up super stats but has trouble against the good teams. Shenandoah is on an upswing as well and looks to be a force for years to come. With HSC being so dominant of E&H and starting so poorly at SH last week and still dominating them my only conclusion is that HSC is potentially that much better than everyone this year. I thought HSC would have more issues with only one returning OL but they have figured it out somehow. What we can look forward too is that if HSC is that much better than everyone in 2014 lets see how they will respond in 2015 without the QB & WR combo plus several great Defensive players graduating. The Guilford vs E&H game could be a good one last game and possibly have implications if HSC stumps its toe against BW or GC. FYI Guilford by 45 or more over Catholic this week.

October 26, 2014, 08:47:25 AMQuote from: hasanova on October 25, 2014, 10:37:54 PMyes your right but CUA is dismal this year. Don't think HSC starting offense played in 2nd half vs CUA . Quakers should roll easily. Don't kid yourself Quakers are looking ahead to Nov 8. HSC does have a tough one against BW. E&H still in hunt too . Quakers & HSC control their own destiny. If HSC wins the next 2 they will be ODAC champs. Quakers have to win all 3 remaining.Quote from: odacsuperfan on October 25, 2014, 09:57:54 PMPlease, not a wise post for a team that's lost 14 in a row to the Tigers. First, take our preparations for CUA seriously, then focus on giving both CUA and HSC our best shots.
Quakers are coming to the party ! Get ready HSC !

Sorry narch didn't mean to hurt your feelings about your QB. I never meant to slight Reber I just stated my opinion. I'm sure all the coaches in the ODAC know how good Nance makes HSC . You seem to be consumed with stats and that is a good indicator but too many variables are in stats only to say whose better. A lot of the D3 offenses post crazy offensive stats but Favret seems to be protective of Nance until the Conference heats up. I've seen a lot of D3 QB's and personally I think Nance is a notch above. You rarely see his size , strength , speed , arm strength and most importantly Wins in a D3 QB. Certainly no disrespect to Reber. IMO if Nance were playing for Mt Union Burke would be his backup. But , ...... we will never know.
