Jk
Your Generals are tough to defend. I think the HSC defense did a better job then most by holding W&L to 272 yds on the ground, an average of 3.8 yards per rush but 272 is still a bunch to give up.
I've got to ask; your take on THE GAME ?
Hasa
Sorry for your Quakers loss but I didn't think CAU was a good match up for you guys. They are just a bit more physical at this point.
Well, the game went pretty much as I was afraid it would go. HSC got out in front early, for at least the third year in a row and I'm getting sick of watching that! W&L just isn't good enough to come back from that. Nance did not make mistakes, and the Generals turned the ball over 3 times (twice were killers). So the Generals made the mistakes and HSC didn't. Since I thought HSC was a better team this year, that needed to be reversed for the Generals to have a shot.
It was nice seeing a bit of a rally in the second half, but then Nance came out and salted the game away. W&L is missing a viable pitch recipient this year. So while Hollerith (the giant first year who did most of the damage) is going to be a beast up the middle for a couple years to come, W&L is going to have to find a way to compliment him with the speed and outside option. Right now the threat is there, but the qb is not getting the ball to the pitch man effectively. It's been this way all year.
I thought the Generals played as well as could be expected on defense, but there was a limit and it was reached in the fourth quarter. Overall, W&L is slightly better on defense, but not as good on offense as in the past, and they are losing the turnover battle almost every game. An unhealthy combination that has them staring at 5-5 or 6-4 this year. We have a first year QB that showed some promise at times, if we can pair him with Hollerith I think in two years W&L will be challenging again. Not sure about next year.
