Hopefully the MAC manages that better than the PAC did.

It actually worked out for them as they got two teams into the 2nd round of the playoffs, had they played each other, only one team would have made it.

For all the Brockport fans - your guys played a great game and Congrats. All the heat about the east not being able to compete should quiet for a while. Nicely done.

To any one that really watched the game (I watched in passing) how would you rate the UMHB DBs and specifically their Corners? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Their DBs are fast and cover really well and fit the run very well. They are very athletic. I think if you are going to get anything, it is going to be through schematics and not athleticism. There D-Line allows for them to play aggressive. Good Luck.

Congrats SUNY Brockport on 1 helluva season. There are 250 d3 football teams. 246 236 would have given their eye teeth to be playing Saturday in the semis!  Hold your heads up.  You represented your school, Empire 8 and NYS D3 Football better than anyone could have hoped for!

Kudos to the GOLDEN EAGLES!

Corrected it for you :D

The wide open style of play is routine in Texas High School Football.  Gaudy offensive numbers are common.

Look at where D-1 comes to find QB's

Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham -- Stephenville (TX) High School
Ohio State QB J T Barrett -- Wichita Falls (TX) High School
Alabama QB Jalen Hurts -- Channelview (TX) High School

Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield -- Lake Travis (TX) High School

I am really looking forward to this game matching the East Region. The only 2 previous playoff games by a Texas team versus an East Region opponent came in 2013 against UMHB, Rowan 59-8 and SJF 45-23. (Wesley was South Region back in the day.)

Great athletes, but at QB, there are quite a bit of questions.

Your thoughts on: Will Brockport punt/kickoff to UMHB's #1, Bryce Wilkerson?

I hope!

Brockport came across to me as very cocky on the field.  To me there is a fine line between confidence in one's ability and cockiness and Brockport crossed that line last week against Del Val and it almost cost them the game.  Now if that mentality comes from the coaching staff then they may just believe that they are good enough to shut down any return team despite the success that team has had in previous games.  If I was coaching and I had a punter/kicker good enough to directional kick then your returner would never see the ball.  I don't think I would kickoff out of bounds but a directional low drive type kick that may bounce around before someone other than the normal returner picks it up would be the best option.  If you are going to get beat don't get beat by a kick return.

I agree, the punting for Brockport actually set them up to win. If they can get the same out of the Punter, it can at least keep the special team category at even. I think Brockport will learn from that experience.

Congrats to Jacob Maher (1st Team), Jaquan Harris (2nd Team), Zach Ziemba (3rd Team), and Marvey Mathurin (3rd Team) for making All East Region selection.

That's definitely a really good hire. Hoping Endicott can get back to a 7+ win program and strengthen the region.

I'm so happy that Brockport is just a tune up for your next game lmao. No way DV will score enough points to win this game. 31-17 Brockport!

bsports - I guess for both of us (as I had a 20 point Brockport victory and you had a 14 point victory with DelVal only scoring 17 against the Brockport defense all game..........and they put up 21 in one quarter), the old saying applies........."It's better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than open it and remove all doubt".

Make the East (although my Manhattan buddies think that Brockport, NY............and all of New York that's not Manhattan or the other four boroughs is akin to Guam, and certainly not the "East" :) ) proud and take down Mary Hardin Baylor. Brockport has the QB, size, speed and defense to do the job but if that defense gets torched like it did through the air and on the ground in the 4th quarter against DelVal.........it could be a long, long day in Texas.

So if I am reading your post correctly, Brockport is better than St. Thomas. They have size and speed better than St Thomas AND The Cru? This is intriguing. I am watching the Brockport v DV game now. I will look for these things. I know no team can be underestimated, and we can't look past Brockport at all.

From an outside perspective, Brockport has done everything that you can ask for a team, they went on the road and won a big game (Del Val), won a big game at home against as good team (Wesley), and dominated a team (not sure that team showed up) at home as they should have. I watched both the 2nd and 3rd games in its entirety, the first game I was watching a New England Bowl game. I think the two match-ups against Wesley and Delaware Valley has prepared them mentally. Mentally beating a team like Wesley that has been the top of the crop in ER. Then, playing against a team that has been firing on all cylinders and playing with a chip on their shoulder in Delaware Valley, they beat them. Regarding the Delaware Valley game, I think  Brockport was being overconfident and did not finish against a good opponent (kudos to Delaware Valley). However, they survived and will use that as learning experience. Do I think they are better than UST, we shall see (Historically, no). I think UST is well coached and super aggressive. But, I believe Brockport will utilize what Georgia did against Auburn and not run at the awesome D-Line that UMHB has and play on the edge and vertically in the seams. I think Brockport main thing is limiting the run and big play, which they have done when focused. I think Brockport earned their position this weekend and is unequivocally the best ER team this year, they would beat any other ER team at least 8 out of 10 times on neutral field. I am looking forward to their matchup against UMHB. I respect UMHB as they have taken that next step from being at Tier II, Tier IB to National Champion.

QuoteFrostburg could jump above both Delaware Valley/Brockport or fall below Wesley because they had an easier draw in the first two rounds and Wesley beat them.

Beating Wittenberg and W&J on the road in the first two rounds is easier then beating RPI at home and losing to Brockport?

If you believe that RPI is much better than both Wittenberg and W&J and Brockport being much better than RPI. I could argue both sides, but I would more than likely lean to the ladder.

Good Luck to Frostburg St, you guys have been playing well. Play inspired and seize the moment. I think you guys can shock the world. Haven't watch much of the Mount, but the Case Game and I am sure you are a couple touchdowns better and better on defense. Keep it close and maybe pull it out with a big play here and there.

I am hoping for a good game, but I think home field will definitely play the part. I think the game may be closer than what we expect. Delaware Valley is a very good team and will are now playing the underdog roll which will fuel them even more. If UMHB gets upset, that's another home game for either.

This week could have several lower seeded teams winning.  Wesley/ Brockport, Frostburg/W&J, NCC/Oshkosh, Linfield/UMHB, and Trine/Wartburg look like toss ups or games that the away team would not surprise if they won the game.  I think Del Val, Mount, and St. Thomas may get challenged but any of them losing would be considered a major upset.  This could be a fun week of mayhem in D3.

I concur.

Pep would say Ithaca, Hobart and Alfred, even with the hiccups, were certainly comparable if not better than the top teams Wesley faced all season long.

Your endless positivity is sometimes infectious, Pep, which I love you for. But the idea that the Liberty League's 4th place team is somehow comparable to the 7th ranked team in the country is pretty far-fetched.

Dude, stop being so perfectly literal. Obviously Pep isn't talking about Delaware Valley or Frostburg. He's talking the likes of Salisbury, Christopher Newport, Montclair, Kean, etc, none of which seem ridiculously overmatched this year. Looking at Frostburg's results, I wouldn't even put them too far ahead of the E8/LL pack.

I think the E8 and LL were both pretty strong on the top half this year, moreso than in year's past.

I would say the LL/E8 are comparable to that of the NJAC. I think the E8/LL have better offenses, but the NJAC have better defenses. Coaching and Special teams will be the deciding factors.
