I was trying to look a little but wasn't sure if anyone knew my question from earlier. If Trinity does not get in are they the first NESCAC Regular Season Champ with 20 wins to not get in the NCAA Tourney?

HoopsFan Trinity's vRRO is 4-1 at 80% win total. Amherst is 5-3 at a 62% win total (Ill give you 63% we will round up). Not sure how you are saying Amherst is better there.

All I am saying is if Trinity doesn't get in and Amherst does its a total joke and only because of Amherst name.

Hoops Fan As long as Trinity is in I won't complain where or who is higher or what not but if Amherst is higher I don't care SOS or any of that it would only be because of Amherst name. Trinity buried them on their own home court and went 9-1 in conference while Amherst went 6-4. Head to Head has to mean something especially when the road team wins by double figures. And then finishes 3 games ahead of them in league.

HoopsFan how can you have Amherst in over Trinity. Both have 20 wins. Trinity beat the daylights out of Amherst AT Amherst. Trinity finishes the regular season league play at 9-1. Amherst 6-4. Regular season way harder to win in any league then the playoffs where a team can just get hot. It would be a total joke if Amherst gets in and Trinity doesn't. It would show all people at D3 care about is the name not about the season at hand.

Also would anyone happen to know if this is true and Trinity doesn't get in are they the first ever NESCAC team with 20 wins who WON the NESCAC Regular Season to not get in the NCAA's?

Congrats to the new NESCAC Champs. Played a great 3 games. A thing about the last post. Cosgrove has to be Coach of the Year. Take the whole season not getting hot at the right time like Riley's teams did. Trinity was picked 5th to start the year. Finish 9-1. Would be surprised if it wasn't him.

Who gets in the NCAA Tourney from the NESCAC in everyones opinion? Everyone wants Babson to win right now too. Peoples thoughts?

First I will say taking Williams with the points. And taking Trinity getting 10.5. That's a high number not to take the Bantams there.

As far as Coach Cosgrove goes. First look at past teams (Endicott and Adelphi). After he had been there for a period of time they won and won big consistently. Second if you talk to his players who played for him there they love him. As far as Trinity goes he is more than the right man for the job. Too much of this league tries to act a certain way because thats what they think they are suppose to do cause they are NESCAC and think its all high and mighty. (Which I will agree all GREAT schools, just making a point of how people think you HAVE to carry yourself). Coach Cosgrove wears his heart on his sleeve. Hes as competitive a person as you will ever meet when you step between the lines. He was as a player at St. A's and is as a coach. He demands a lot from his players. However each one of those guys who goes through his program for 4 years know that he has their back and will do anything for them on and off the court.  I think those kids at Trinity love what they get from him everyday cause they know how much he cares about them. So although it may not be your thing the way he is on the sidelines, he shouldnt ever change. Thats not him and why act like someone you are not. He has gotten the most out of a lot of those kids who are now in that junior class and have been with the program for a while. He will continue to do that. Hope that helps with your questions.

I am not saying who is going to win this game Saturday. Amherst should be favored and should win at home. But to just look at it as who is Amherst going to face in the final would be a mistake. Trinity clearly hung with them the first time around losing by 6 and they can match up to Amherst with their athleticism that can give Amherst some problems.

I agree with part of your post and TOTALLY disagree with another part. The part I agree with is they need someone to step up offensively and have a go to guy. I think they have a couple guys capable of doing that who are young but we will see if they take that step.

Part of the whole reason guys departed before if you remember when Cosgrove took over they had 9 guys on the team with 6 of them seniors. They had to recruit in mass just to field a team and be able to practice. When that happens and you have such a big class (10-12 guys they brought in) you are bound to have guys leave. Now they have that core and dont have to recruit as much this group will be together.

The part I totally disagree with is you saying the reason their defense stats are so great is because of their out of conference schedule. Lets look at the stats we are talking about defensively.

FG% Defense- In Conference- 35.9/ Overall- 36.6
3PT FG% Defense- In Conference-  26.9/ Overall 26.7
Rebound Margin- In Conference- +9.5/ Overall +9.8
PT Per Game- In Conference- 61.3/Overall 60.7

There is little to no difference at all in their defensive stats in and out of conference. And to say Bowdoin just missed shots is not giving Trinity any credit for their effort on the defensive end. Watching that game (and I only saw the last 10 minutes and the overtimes) both teams played their tails off on the defensive end. So to just dismiss it as "Oh Bowdoin just missed shots" is not giving Trinity the credit for how hard and well they played on the defensive end.(and Bowdoin did too)

All these people are raving about Colby and how good they will be next year and Amherst, Williams and Middlebury. And I am not saying these teams are not going to be. But why no love for Trinity. They are in the Final 4 now. Which Colby has not done. They have every single player returning. This year they are 2nd in FG% Defense, 3rd in Rebounding Margin, 2nd 3PT FG% Defense and 11th in scoring defense. In the country not just the NESCAC. They should be talked about as a team to watch out for next year. And as far as Saturday goes dont think its just automatic that Amherst wins. Trinity is going to give them all they can handle.
