First of all, great season for The Lord Jeff's. Still the best team in D3 hoops IMO.

Second, I still think Robinson is overrated. If killian is guarding Robinson tonight guarantee he scores less than ten. I think the LJs were scared off by that skeleton mcrary.

Toomey is still the GOAT.

Well his team won a whole bunch before this year - due in large part to his play - the caliber of which he brought once more this year.   Midd was down this year for a variety of problems, including one that we all thought would hurt Amherst this year, and we all think (with even more confidence now) will hurt them next year - the graduation of a keystone class.

Toomey was able to do what he did this year because the two other (starting) seniors developed the way they did: he had the support of a breakout Tom Killian and a much-improved Kalema.  It's not as if Toomey's been providing 20/6 every night with a poor supporting cast.  Kizel, on the other hand, played with a supporting cast that, while definitely not "poor," was not as nasty as Toomey's.

Kizel lives in the land of the Paranoid King (as opposed to the Blind one) - yes, I'm paranoid, but am I paranoid enough?: Yes, I score, but do I score enough?  Yes, I lead, but do I lead enough?

Well, in my opinion, kizel is like Jamal Crawford on the Knicks a couple years back. Sure he puts up pretty good numbers, but his team isn't winning; in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king, and in midd, kizel is that guy. Toomey, however, is on his way to his second final four in as many years and has way better numbers. Nuff said.

Bad traffic on 66 in DC.

See you guys tonight. Fred out

Robinson= overrated
Kizel= overrated

This "is kizel elite?" debate is as contentious as the "is joe flacco elite?" debate.

Toomey= the GOAT!!!

@grabtherim

The past didn't end three weeks ago for Killian...ball don't lie. I'm taking Killian over kizel 7 days a week and twice on Sundays.

@bucket

Obviously kizel is a good player, there's just no way I take him over Killian this season. And even though Killian had a better season people seem to take kizel's side because of what he's done in the past. It's like voting for kobe Bryant for the ASG over Damien lillard because of Kobe's past accomplishments rather than his season numbers.

Doesn't mean anything at this point though, Jeff's making their second consecutive final four appearance which is all that matters.

Should be a great weekend of basketball all around. With regards to the all region selections, Killian has been getting snubbed all year (nescac team included) in what appears to be a popularity contest. No way does kizel deserve these accolades over Killian this season. Only explanation is that midd hoops fans go crazy over Joey and the selection committee listens for some reason. At the end of the day though, Killian will be going for his second ring which means a lot more than individual awards. Can't wait til Friday, anyone know of any good steak houses in Salem?

my sources are telling me that Connor Gach ate a really spicy breakfast burrito this morning, which wouldn't be a big deal unless you knew about the phenom's aversion to spicy food. really hope this doesn't stop the connor "don't forget to bus your treys" gach from doing his thing out there this week.

I'm not so sure that players don't appreciate getting into what you guys have dubbed "garbage time," especially in Hixon's system.  Obviously there are some players on the bench who would be starting players on a lot of other teams that aren't loaded with the kind of talent that the Jeffs, or any other nescac team for that matter, have (My sources at Plattsburgh told me that Connor Gach was a coveted recruit for their squad four years ago, and now he is a pivotal bench player for the Jeffs). But I don't think that the LJs who could play on other teams and don't play as much for Amherst are necessarily disappointed with this. I think some of these players are excited just to be a part of the Amherst program, winning a NESCAC championship and aren't so concerned with boosting their egos. Hixon is good about letting freshmen (who are primarily the bench players) learn the system and earn their spot on the team. Plus, when these kids do get in and score or grab a rebound, I always hear friends/family cheering for them just as much as when Killian, Kalema, Toomey et al. do the rain dance on their opponents. just sayin...

Can't we all just be positive?! I was just making some bold predictions! Best of luck to all the players in tomorrow's selection process and the upcoming tournament!

Anyone have any predictions for the nescac accolades since they're being released tomorrow? Here are mine:

1st Team:
G- Aaron Toomey
G- Connor Greene
F- Tom Killian
F- Duncan Robinson
C- Mike Mayer

Gotta think that Amherst will place 3/5 on the first team all-nescac.  I think toomey will win player of the year again, killian is a close runner-up and Greene would have won it if neither of the other two were playing this year.

Most improved player: Connor Gach

I know people might think this is crazy, but I can't see it going down any other way. Gach has been an incredible asset for the Jeffs off the bench this year and you gotta think that they'll give him most improved player nod after his career year this season.
