QuoteGO JACKETS!!!  I went to the game yesterday and stopped by the "legendary" Stone Station and taked to The Kid a little while and spoke with several Bridgewater fans and parents after the game even though I am obviously a R-MC fan/parent.  I was impressed by how gracious the BC fans (The Kid and his cohorts included), Coach Clark and even some players were in defeat.

The Llamaguy is All-American in my book. I really appreciate the way you (and other BC fans as well) have helped raise the appreciation for D3 football in its entirety. Even though i haven't been to all the games as in the past, I'm proud to be associated with fans such as the Stone Station Crew.

THANKS! xBCdad

QuoteI'll even go a step further and say with the right match-up, they could win a first round playoff game as well. Yesterday's game in my eyes was between a team playing with confidence and another trying to find it's lost identity. Wink Good luck next weekend!

I agree. Solid Defense, strong line play with a  sturdy RB and timely passes. reminds me of the Eagles of 1999 and 2000. I don't remember which year it was but I'll never forget K-Mack warning "Don't sleep on the water" as the tide began to turn for the BC football fortunes. After BC's trip to the stagg bowl I predicted that eventually the entire conference would benefit from their performance. I think we've seen the fruit this year.

I miss having the Eagles in the post season but I think Pedro and the Jackets have the "right stuff" to get the next ODAC playoff win.

QuoteOh how I long for the days when teams actually played defense.   Based on these numbers he should be at least 7 and 4 againast the Eagles.

I've seen one game (McDaniel) so far and it wasn't much of a contest. I haven't made a thorough assessment of stats but have a hunch the biggest change is on the defensive side of the ball. In the old days it seemed we pressured the QB more regularly and then got burned deep occassionally. I've listened to the most games and have been surprised there havent been more sacks orr tackles for loss.  I checked 2002 and found points against were much lower in the last of the Ryan Bailey/Jermaine Taylor years. If sacks are down and scores are upwhat's the reason?

    • Too much turnover on the defensive coaching staff, (3 or is it 4 new D coordinators in 6 years?

    • lack of more than 1 dominant D lineman backed up by dominant backers

    • Change of philosophy, more cautious

    • Other teams figuring out  how to attack
    • New guys don't remember the bad old days and feel entitled to win with out the level of commitment

Somebody smarter than me we will have to figure it out but I'll never forget that first playoff game in 2000 at W&J being down 28-3, getting torched Deep play after play.  The tide turned when the line started putting pressure on the QB and he ended up with more picks in one game than he'd had the entire season.

    I love blitzing! ;D

Trying to obtain tickets to the EHC vs HSC game, are they sold out yet, and are there scalpers on site for tickets.
LOL that one flushed me out!

I've been there when there have been a lot of fans but I've been at Bridgeforth stadium on parents weekend and that holds 15 K and I can tell you Fullerton ain't no Bridgeforth. As Pat mentioned it's not really that big of a deal but it is sorta funny that it seems so important to publish huge numbers. Sounds like fuzzy math to me.

Really i didn't care about the fans I just hated those last second losses.

You Da Man Snake ...keep stirring the pot!

QuoteAs a matter of fact.  I did notice a new BC recruit touring campus yesterday.  I think he maybe the new center.

Yep! Looks like he coulda been hanging out at Hardees. I knew you'd find him sooner or later. At least he showed up before the annual appearance of that guy hawking Subway sandwiches and posing as a mild mannered football reporter.

    PAK,
QuoteI had an old lady give me a rash of dirty looks for being too loud at, I think, the homecoming game. Roll Eyes  I needed your support (and your vocal volume) to put her in her place.  Why do quiet people go to football games, anyway?
I'm not much on Elvis but I can tell you I've had more than one person who was sitting close to me come up AWOL after half time. I took my boss with me to RMC one time and he just turned off his hearing aid.  :D

    Ralph,
Thanks for your thorough analysis. I thought it made sense geographically and I know many ODAC schools already schedule them but I hadn't considered the impact on the norther schools.

QuoteXBCDad is spending way to much time with the Mennonites.

Yep you nailed it PAK. Since you are interested in the ODAC especially in the northern Shenandoah valley you might be interested in knowing that one of those Mennonites where I work informed me that our institution was asked to support a request by Shenandoah U to join the ODAC. I mentioned that a few weeks back and barely got a nibble. But at the time we were debating the value and disposition of various diplomas. As the Kid pointed out ...K Mack had the definitive word on the subject  ::) and the board was then cleared for "macon folks to discuss history. I've learned to skim the articles rather quickly like non-eagle fans have done for the last number of years.

Anyway ...is the idea of SU leaving the USAC old news or really not that interesting?

Man I can't wait for Miz to provide some spicy post game commentary or Snakehandler to tell us he saw Elvis at the Hardees on Dinkle avenue

He has ... on the BC football blog (sorry for no hyperlink)

Duh! i should have known better. I noticed that there hadn't been a recent blog update and assumed that was the latest. I'm used to having flashing lights and scrolling messages. I guess after last year this is the humbler more subdued eagle fan.

I sorta hate to bring this up but Street and Smith has BC #17 and W&L #25.  :o :-\ That is from memory sneaking a peek at Food Lion so i may be off a bit. I can't believe Kid hasn't posted it already.

It's got to be the dog days of summer when we spend multiple pages debating the academic merits of various schools.

At the risk of kicking the dead that started this debate (the reallignment of the ODAC and USAC) I will ask if anyone else has heard that SU has or will be petitioning the ODAC for membership. I haven't taken the time to read all the posts so perhaps I missed it. I'd classify my source as VERY relaible. That said, I have no idea what the disposition of the matter might be at this point. It would certainly make sense geographically.

Hmmm? I seem to remember the discussion about a change at DIII level but haven't researched it. From what I googled, there seems to be concensus that "routine red shirting" , as opposed to medical red shirting, is not allowed at DIII. I've not found information on transfers from higher divisions. I hope Kirasdad is correct.  MUC probably has more experience with this than most school.

Actually not, but everyone thinks that all the time.  We get some (Matt Campbell, Chris Kern in recent years) but not as many as people think.

I think Pat did an article about Red Shirting last January, as that is when the rule changed for D3.

Actually, there was a thread on the Daily Dose this January:

kirasdad, thanks for the link and Pat for the article. that pretty well clears it up

Just heard this week that a local recruit who opted for DII rather than HSC or BC has decided to transfer to BC.  He Lead the valley district in rushing from the fullback spot and is a punishing runner. He should make a great compliment to the returning back field. As a freshman he was listed at 6' and 205. I understand he was red shirted and will have 4 years of eligibility remaining.

I'd consider my source very reliable but outside of any official coaching staff. I expect the kid has the scoop but may not be able to report at this time.
