Central up 42-14 over the Knights at halftime. Offensive explosion so far and I can only wonder "what if" as I look back at the last few weeks. It's nice to watch offense as suffering through the Iowa games has been brutal. The local high school and our youth football program run a more advanced offense than the Hawks and it's fun when it's the Dutch putting up such big numbers against a big rival. Go Dutch!

Congrats to all the winners! NWU is a great addition to the IIAC. Quality fans, great broadcast and class act all the way around. Welcome to the Iowa Conference and best of luck to the Prairie Wolves from here on out! As I look back at Central's losses, I have to quote my favorite Coach--"if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas!" So close of a year for the Dutch and an "of" here or a "but" there and this week would be championship week for Central. Good luck to Coe and just keep winning as you represent the IIAC!

Busy with charity run, youth football and a wedding today, so I tuned in just in time to see the field goal get blocked. Playing for pride now and we will see if the senior class is really a good group of leaders from here on out. 8-2 still would feel nice, but there's some stuff to clean up. Just hang on to the dang ball! Go Dutch and go IIAC!

Able to see the 1st half of the Central/UD game and 4 turnovers in one half is a sure way to lose a football game and give credit to UD for capitalizing. Finish strong Dutch and run the table Spartans!

He has the next 40 years to serve others in the healthcare field, but you only get 4 falls to play college football! Go Dutch!

Central escapes 42-34. Very uncomfortable with our defense, but the offense will be hard to stop. Lots of weapons and I like the spirit and resilience the leaders on the team show.
Spurrier--thanks for the info on Birmingham! Sounds like UD had quite the man for a few years and many were robbed by his untimely passing.
Go IIAC and Go Dutch!

Spurrier...difficult to compare the tenures directly because of the differences in how long they coached and what not, but there sure seemed to be a few good years in the middle of Birmingham's career at UD. We Dutchmen will honor the impact Skip left at Central and we'll let you do the same in Dubuque. I don't know much about Birmingham, so where did he come from and where did he go after UD? It looks like he was a good coach, but a quick google search couldn't find much after his time at UD.
Good luck to everyone today!

Living up here in NE Iowa has been pretty rough this past month with all of the flooding. The Upper Iowa River won't be cresting until Saturday, so who knows what Luther/Decorah will look like come game time. Luther isn't the most progressive in terms of their athletic expenditures, so I doubt a new field will be coming any time soon...

An opportunity to talk about a Cocky Beaver mustn't be wasted.

Pretty unremarkable victory for the Dutch, but 33-0 with a few minutes to go feels pretty good. A safety taken off the board as a Cocky Beaver taunted after running a blocked PAT back. Down 33-0 is no time to taunt. Win and lose with class! Go Dutch!
