Just 6-8 weeks ago some of us thought that Serpone, along with Shapiro, would be in the mix for one of the Boston jobs (BC, BU, Harvard).  Since then, I haven't heard a word about Serpone.  Can we presume he is staying put, at least for now?

In addition to Coach Shapiro's departure for Harvard, both coaches have their imprint on the other two positions.  Kevin Nylen (the BU hire) was an assistant at Amherst for Coach Serpone and Bob Thompson (the BC hire) was an assistant during Coach Shapiro's early years at Tufts.

Yes Serpone was quoted on the BU guy. I'm sorry that is a BAD hire for BC...You want to elevate a program and take it to the next level in the best conference in the country and that is the hire you make? Yea he was at Tufts a couple years but make no mistake he is an Ed Kelly guy and for a program looking to move on from Kelly I do not see them doing it with this hire. Certainly there were some qualified "outside" candidates available? Some jobs need inside candidates and other jobs require a whole new culture...I think BC was in that latter category and this hire is uninspiring to say the least but hey maybe Thompson turns heads...Harvard at BC should be a good one next year

I disagree Mr. Right. I can see the appeal of Thompson - he was one of the best players in recent memory for BC and played for the Revs for a couple of years - as a college kid I think I'd be excited getting to learn from and play for a guy like that. And looking at his track record, he does have somewhat of a history of helping to turn mediocre (or sometimes just really bad) teams into winners. Since he was interim for only half the year last year I could see why the AD wants to at least give him a full year if he thinks there is some potential...

Kudos to Tufts and Amherst. A pity that Conn had to play the Jumbos this year in the Elite 8- I think in another quadrant they may have had a better chance of advancing. Still, a great year for the Camels as well. From top to bottom (well...maybe excluding Trinity at the moment) the NESCAC is an incredible conference. 5 of the last 6 national championships is quite a feat!

A great year for the NESCAC with three teams in the elite eight (and Conn only eliminated by a conference foe). Could we have an all-NESCAC final? The Calvin Tufts game should be phenomenal. Don't know too much about Centre though...any idea how they play/what to watch for?

Haha apparently I didn't have my reading glasses on...nonetheless, I still have Tufts 2-1! ;)

Echo Paul Newman's thoughts...especially the trap game part. It's homecoming for Tufts on Saturday against their biggest rival of the past decade (and another top 5 team in the country) and I'm sure they were all thinking about that game. I think they didn't get up for a noncoference midweek Babson game and it showed. Credit to Babson. Tufts should know that each time they take the field they'll have a target on their back. Will be interesting to see who becomes a leader on the team after this performance.

Still, I don't think you hit the panic button (despite Tufts lackluster past 3 games). I sometimes think it's good to take a bad loss mid-season - oftentimes its a big wake up call. I think Tufts responds this weekend at home. 2-1 over Amherst.

Goals from Tufts 6-0 THRASHING of Wheaton. Is Wheaton that bad? I know Wheaton isn't as good as they were 4-5 years ago but 6-0 seems a bit outrageous. Anyone with intel on their program? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lou9NOLo1Bg

Third goal is a beauty - well worked, outside of the foot cross and a perfect header.

Tufts has posted its schedule:  https://gotuftsjumbos.com/sports/msoc/2019-20/schedule

Brandeis (which has become something of an out of conference rivalry), Wheaton, and Babson = a pretty solid non-conference schedule on paper. A bit surprised to see Endicott off the list as I feel like they've played them every year for the past 6-7 seasons (I could be misremembering though).

Unsure if anyone else saw this, but Tufts got a shout out on PTI. Very cool - when is the last time anything D3 made it on to ESPN?!

Too bad Tommy Smyth isn't on ESPN2 doing color commentary for UCL games anymore. Maybe during halftime he'd have the opportunity to talk about how Tufts managed to put the ball "into the back of the old onion bag" 13 times during the NCAA tourney ;)

Haha, well played. Hopefully it would come with the manic shouting we've come to know and love!

After watching Tufts/Roch 1st half, does anyone beside me get the feeling that Calvin will win by 2-3 goals in the final?

What a counter by Tufts and a beautiful through ball by Tasker to Braun. That HAS to be buried! Also, great refereeing playing the advantage and allowing Tufts to continue its counter.

Wow. That was the most fun I've had watching a first half of college soccer in a LONG time.
