Infrequent poster. An Amherst alum , played football in the late 60s. Just a comment on their current state. I tried watching the Wesleyan game today but had to leave, just horribly outcoached, out recruited. out everythinged by Wesleyan. Time for a coaching change? I know w that isn't normalcy in NESCAC but really? They're 9-3 but have some bad losses to bad teams. They'll be lucky to win 5 NESCAC games.

It's reallysad watching Amherst football and basketball these days. The Amherst football offense might be the most unimaginative and poorly run offense I've seen in a long time. Their basketball program really misses Hixon. Recruiting is down in both sports.Hoping for a rebound at some point.

Actually the ream played really well with Berman at point and Conklin in the post, and usually does. I really feel uneasy when Dawson mans the point, he dribbles incessantly and 4 other guys stand around watching. I'm not sure why Hixon doesn't see the same thing?

Speaking of Amherst recruits, anyone have a complete list for 2015?

Congrats to Amherst. Berman finally looked for his own shot and was still the pass first, unselfish point guard that they need. Conklin is finally getting a chance, he's smart and tough and very efficient. He obviously learned from his year on the bench and at practice against some of the most talented players in D1 at Arizona. He should have been getting PT earlier, maybe he was injured. I like their chances in the next game, probably against St. John Fisher despite it being at their building.

Amherst just didn't show up today. They looked lethargic and were out hustled at every turn.Congrats to Middlebury on a win when it would have been easy for them to cash it in for the season. Idon't see Amherst winning a game in the playoffs, they are very overrated this year.

Watched Amherst-Drew from Sao Paulo Brasil. It's 1:30 am here now.Two thoughts. 1. Jayde Dawson is not the answer at the point. 2. Michael Riopel and Jonny McCarthy are both outstanding freshman. I think we'll see a lot more of both of them in the future and more of Reid Berman at the point. He's not a scorer but an excellent playmaker.

Thank you for the welcoming words and insight amh63 and hoya73! I think Riopelle will a keeper. I also agree that Amherst needs a lot of work, not surprising given their youth and inexperience. However, I think last night's game was a bit of an aberration. I may be wrong, but Hixon has a habit of putting a pretty good product on the floor by February.

As a first time contributor, I've enjoyed reading the many knowledgable posts to this site. Just a quick question for those in the know about Amherst. Is the first year player, Michael Riopelle, hurt or just not dressing? He really impressed me in Amherst's first few games but has been undressed (you know what I mean
) for the past few games. he's a bit thin, but smooth and has a great stroke from outside and appears to have a feel for the game that a lot of the other young players on the team (excluding McCarthy) don't have. And no, I'm not his father or uncle, just an Amherst grad living in Canada.
