Walked by Connor Raridon this past week. Seems to have grown over the summer. Likely 6'7 - 6'8 now (in shoes)

(I am 6'6 in shoes and had to look up at him)

Serious question: Who got cheated more this year: NCC last night or Juwaun Henry in the Player of the Year voting...
Haha.
I just wanna see NPU make the tourney so bad next year.
Go NPU 2016-2017!

To say NCC needed to adjust to the way the referees were calling the game is just silly... The referees were callings fouls for things that were completely within the rules of basketball. One major thing that stood out to me was the amount of charges called when the defender was in the semi circle.. How can a professional referee not understand the rule that goes along with the semi-circle? Very very sad for the CCIW, as this loss looks bad on the conference, but for all that watched, we know that NCC did not lose that game and more importantly, St. Olaf did not win it. The only individuals responsible for the outcome were the referees. NCC had what 4 guys foul out and 3 more with 4 fouls???? Lets be honest here, that is not something you ever see in the sport of basketball.

Word from the arena was that St. Olaf fans were laughing after the game while waiting for the players to come out talking about how they were handed the game... That is so disappointing to me as a huge fan of basketball. Even the winning team was aware of the, for lack of a better word, cheating that occurred.

I dont know who the athletic director at NCC is, but i would assume there is a process to investigate games. And that process should definitely be started. Sorenson did blow the game by dribbling it off his leg, but this game was a 20 point blowout if any 3 referees besides these men called the game. From a business stand point, NCC could certainly have made a run in this tourney and will now miss out on any revenue or accolades that were taken from them last night. I would want that reimbursed if I was their Athletic Director.

Big win for Elmhurst to keep the season alive. Glad i was able to make it to the tourney yesterday as both games were great, but the winners don't have too much to be proud about.... The referees determined the outcome of both games. So sad to see what basketball has turned into, heck, all sports are starting to become a bore with all the rules.

The all conference teams are posted... And it is extremely embarrassing to see the outcome.

Juwaun Henry should get a lawyer and start suing all the coaches. He has been robbed in two consecutive years now.

It is safe to say that the Player of the Year Award in the CCIW has ZERO to do with who the Player of the Year in the CCIW is... Sounds weird to say that, but it is a 100% fact.
Hunter Hill is not the player of the year, he is not the best player in the conference, he is not the most valuable player to his team... I dont really know what else to say

Last night at North Park I sat next to a non-CCIW referee who said he attends CCIW games along with a retired CCIW ref.  They attended two NPU games earlier this year when former NPC championship players were in attendance in the same seating section as I.  During last night's game, I lamented to the ref the lack of moving screen calls.  He replied, "Watch [Raridon], he's a dirty player, and I will tell you when."  The comment was not meant as a compliment.  Sure enough, with all three refs and the ball well ahead of Raridon and Robinson, the former underhooked the latter to impede progress and Robinson spun around to disengage.  When I expressed dissatisfaction, the ref turned to me and said, "Told you so."  Then the second whiniest CCIW coach started screaming and the refs inexplicably stopped play.  (I doubt they saw what happened, given their position on the court.)  The refs formed a circle and subsequently saddled Robinson with a foul, probably because the coach's son can't be guilty, right?  Watch the NCC freshman next year and you will see what I am talking about.  And I've noticed the NCC coach has a penchant for yelling at the refs while the opposing player is about to shoot a FT.  Bush league.

This is without a doubt the dumbest thing i have ever read in my entire life.

I wish NPU could find a way into the tourney this year (And hopefully next year).
Imagine having to play Henry and Robinson in the first round... Might be the scariest matchup possible for a team not familiar with them.

With Benedictine and Augustana ranked number one and two in the regional rankings (as well as in the D3Hoops.com poll and Massey), what are the implications for post season matchups?  Let's say both teams win out (this will be a far more difficult task for Augie).  Will one or both of them receive byes in the national tournament?  In an ideal world they wouldn't meet until Salem, but realistically what could we expect from such a scenario?

If both teams win out over the next three weeks, is there any chance of Augustana moving ahead of Benedictine in the regional rankings?

Augie would bet Benedictine by 15+ if they ever played. I'm sure Augie is not t0o worried about if they are in the same bracket

First, I would like to say thank you to bbfan44 for responding appropriately. Rather then bullying, fighting, belittling me, he chose to respond with respect. I think that is under rated on this message board.

I was not trying to be argumentative, just wanted to show that IIIWWUUU isnt a clown like everyone is making him out to be. Ron Rose has not produced a notable recruit since Overstreet, which was many years ago. That is worth talking about and worth questioning and i am glad IIIWWWUUU brought it up... We talk about the coach of the year a lot in here, shouldn't we talk about the coaches who are lacking? Everyone seems to rip Bosko on occasion...

Also, Dolan and Marietti are solid players, but not the kind of guys that move you up in the CCIW rankings. I would not be okay with comparing Sorenson to Marietti or Dolan to Wuest... Wuest and Sorenson are elite in this conference, and that is not just an opinion. IWU had injuries to their teams best players, but that does not mean their best players are comparable to other teams best players...

Lastly, I total agree that IWU is 1 or 2 players away from being a great team, contending for CCIW and National accolades, but looking at recent recruiting, will they ever get those 1 or 2 guys... The trend right now, since Overstreet, is no. And IWU needs to find a way to change that. Rose dosent have many experienced guys to lead the team like he has had with those Final 4 teams.. It is rebuilding time, and he is 0-2 on recruiting classes when he desperately needed them. I think we can all agree on that?

I hope i got my years right in that post, or I am about to be cyber bullied by grown men so hard!!!

Maybe it is time for someone to come to IIIWWUUUU's rescue, because he really isn't wrong...

1. Brady Rose is not a top talent in the CCIW, and i hope we can all agree on that. Nice kid i am sure, going to accomplish a lot in life, but not a notable CCIW basketball player in my mind. and

2. Ron Rose's recruiting classes over the last few years have been, for lack of a better word, failures. We forget this because of their success and Final Four appearances, but all that success can be seen thanks to 1 recruiting class in the 2010/2011 season when he brought in Dortch, Brady Zimmer, Ziemnik, Big Vic, Czarnowski, Mayberger, Anderson, etc. It is easy for a coach to win when that much talent arrives at once, NCC had the exact same scenario when they brought in the 6 ALL-CCIW players like i have mentioned before.

However, since that year (Not including any transfers):
2011/2012: Overstreet is only notable name, and a great recruit to be honest. But only one guy.

2012/2013: Dolan, Coyle, and Marietti... None of which have panned out to be anything special. Solid and average players for the conference. Lots of injuries to the two later names. I really don't see Dolan as an All-Conference player, but i know some of you guys do. I would take a handful of other individuals over him any day.

2013/2014: Seibring and Stemple... Once again, not outstanding talents. Some of you seem high on Trevor S. but he is a very average player. Inflated stats due to him being the only option inside for IWU most of the year. At another school like Augie or Elmhurst or NCC, may not receive the same minutes or touches.

2014/2015: No notable recruits in my mind. Brady Rose is not a top talent in the CCIW and most likely won't be. I know others disagree, but not sure it is a supported view.

2015/2016: From what i have seen, no notable recruits again. Falotico and Bonnett have some potential, but I don't see either being an impact player in this conference. At other schools in conference, they might not even be getting minutes right now.. But certainly do have potential if they can work at their games.

Now, does this mean the program is in shambles? I don't think so. This is common for D3 sports, very common i would say. Some other teams in the conference have had just as bad recruiting in recent years. I don't think it means he should be fired instantly, but i sure hope they are watching Rose.. How many more years like this is acceptable to any program at any level? Now that everyone on those Final Four teams are essentially gone (Besides Dolan and Marietti (injured and not impactful this year)), Rose needs to build the program back up again, and so far he is off to a bad start... We will see what next year holds for IWU.

Long story short, say what you want IIIWWWUUU, your opinion is just as good as all the rest of these guys. Just because they have more posts then you doesn't mean they are better or smarter or cooler then you are. Someone has to challenge them, because they are not always right!!!!!! I promise you, they are not. I know they think they are God's gift to D3 basketball, but they are not. They are just highly biased observers with strong opinions.
That is all that everyone of us are.

Jagger Anderson = All-Conference (3rd team is most likely)

If you have seen the last handful of games, you know why I say this, and why i said it a few weeks ago...
He is a talent you don't really see often in D3, and that makes him really stand out to me.

PS: anyone know why NCC decided to not guard Ben Ryan last night? Raridon allowed him very standard and easy left handed layups/hook shots/whatever you would like to call it... It was almost as if it was an open gym scenario, Raridon standing straight up and down, not providing any resistance on a Ryan power dribble towards the basket and then when Ryan went up, Raridon would not even consider attempting a block, would just go straight up and down and allow Ryan to finish fairly easily. If Augie would have given Ryan 30+ shots he could have went 25 of 30 from the field and NCC woulda gotta smacked again.

My only thought is that Coach Raridon preached all week that foul trouble would be too hard to overcome and that they shouldn't risk stacking up fouls? If you have to give up a layup, you have to give up a layup.

I believe that historically each team gets at least one player on the all-conference team. I'm sure that one of our learned veterans can either confirm that or correct me if need be.

Right now my 1st team all-conference players would be (keeping in mind the voters don't necessarily follow a "regular" 2 guard, 2 forward, center lineup:

G - Henry, NPU
G - Hill, Augie
C/F - Sorenson, NCC
F - Robinson, NPU
F - Ryan, Augie

2nd team

G - Griffin, Millikin
G/F - Raridon, NCC
C - Nixon, Elmhurst
F - Seibring, IWU
F - Berg, Wheaton

3rd team has a multitude of possibilities. Not ready to make selections at this point, but in keeping with the at least one player per team, would include Kedrowski of Carthage.

I'm sure there will be disagreements. Instead of slamming me/my picks if you disagree, just give us yours. It would be interesting to see what people think.  ;)

Curious what the reasoning behind Ben Ryan being ahead of Raridon is?

Watched just about the whole second half of that NPU game... Wow did Henry put on a show. I hope he can earn the POTY this year, definitely deserves it.

As far as the three pointer at the end... I am indifferent. Gotta remember that these guys live to play basketball, whether it is Henry or the last guy on the bench. This sport means everything to them.

Scoring 50 points in a collegiate game is a rare achievement... So rare that it could end up being one of the greatest, if not the greatest, memory of Henry's basketball career (Assuming he doesn't compete for a conference championship next year, or make the national tournament next year), which could also mean that it is one of the greatest memories/achievements of his life so far. That may sound intense, but there is nothing better then looking back at the things you achieved as a student athlete. If i had ever scored 50 points, i would talk about it to anyone that i came across. Might even have it on my resume.

Obviously, once you get married, have kids, etc. things change and it might not be as important, but right now, im sure it meant a lot to him. Unfortunately for him, it didn't go in and maybe in a way he deserved to miss it.

Since NCC claims he did not attend North Central, perhaps I can hope that he will change his handle to, I don't know, Vinnie the Viking.  That way one of our Scandinavian-inspired institutions can bask in the reflected glory of his wisdom, rather than North Central enjoying this special benefit.

I didn't like Vinnie the Viking, but figured I'd make a name change per your request to reflect my general CCIW respect
