Quote from: bluestreak66 on February 14, 2025, 03:55:08 PMFinally found out John Carroll's non-conference schedule! We're opening at Waynesburg, followed by a trip to Johns Hopkins! If the team doesn't visit the crypt where the actual John Carroll is buried on the trip to Baltimore, I'm pretty sure that would be bad luck lol

I feel like if we drive to Baltimore and lose by four scores, the Mount Union fans won't be able to resist telling us "you could've stayed in the OAC and gotten an equally good butt kicking just 60 minutes away."
they absolutely will  :o

I felt a little nostalgia looking at the Wabash schedule and seeing the old lightning bolt logo!

Quote from: D3fanboy on January 07, 2025, 04:57:48 PMbut Mount played them in '22.  I guess that I just expect more from "The Standard" in a down period of D3FB.  Mount did a less than stellar job in the super senior COVID era, and nobody took advantage of that era more than NCC.

I think honestly it's taking for granted how great the Kehres era actually was. I don't think Mount has become less reasonably dominant. I think it's that when LK was coach, even spilling over into VK's tenure, Mount was unreasonably good. I think "The Standard" was a bar that was set too high. I think my take away is that Dartt is an amazing coach, by all metrics easily one of the best 5 in DIII at least, and he typically finds a way to win games a lesser coach may have lost. He is just not LK

Quote from: bluestreak66 on January 07, 2025, 12:29:18 PMso...... I guess I officially have to post here now that the season is over?  :P

Welcome!
thanks! still checking religiously to see if we've posted the schedule for next year now that there are two non conference games for this year lol. I did take a peak at the NCAC website and saw they scheduled Oberlin for our first conference game lol  ;D

As an outside observer, I must admit that it is amusing many Mount faithful spent the better part of the season lamenting the fall of the empire and complaining about the weakest Mount team in decades, only for said team to make it back to the Stagg! Luckily for Mount you caught us on an off day lol  ;)

Unrelated, a very Merry Christmas to all OAC posters, or as my wife likes to call you my "random D3 internet friends" lol. May Santa bring presents and cheer to everyone in the OAC, except BW, who I hope gets stolen away by Krampus in the dead of night  ;D

Happy gameday everyone! Not going to post my score prediction because I don't want to jinx anything lol!

According to Logan Hansen, this projects to be the closest game this weekend. I don't know if I can handle this pressure lol

Quote from: D3fanboy on November 25, 2024, 12:20:35 PMI have a feeling that Mount wouldn't have basically wasted a quarter offensively in the 3rd (and that 1 yard punt) with QB1 in the game. The fact that Mount only gave up one score during that disaster of a quarter is fairly impressive.  I will also add that 'Etta's second TD on 4th and goal would definitely not have stood if there was replay review.

I know that the Muskie game was absolutely disgusting defensively, but I think some of the vitriol towards the defense is based off of that showing.  If the effort/motivation/intensity/energy against JCU is the same as it was against Muskie and Otterbein, then we have much, much, much bigger program problems.

I'm sure JCU is a better team than in week 3, most playoff caliber teams are.  But some of this JCU "improvement" could be attributed to playing the garbage portion of the OAC and a playoff team that would fit in the bottom half of the conference.

We'll see what the value of the first round bye and multiple weeks to prepare for JCU is for Mount.  Dartt scares the hell out of me, but Mount should beat JCU once again.

39-3-2

Well, we have beat ya twice and tied you once during our time together in the OAC, and we have given you many excellent regular season tests that resulted in losses, Our playoff games have not been very memorable.

Raiders big.

This doesn't strike me as the faith of a devout Jesuit.  ;D
Fun fact about St. Ignatius Loyola (founder of the Jesuits), before he became a priest, he was severely wounded in battle trying to charge at a cannon single handed.
That's the kind of spirit we need Saturday lol  ;D

Quote from: Desertraider on November 24, 2024, 08:58:37 PMOk calling Mounts D "bend but dont break" completely ignores Otterbein, Muskingam, Marietta, and the first game against JCU. Plenty of bend and a lot of breaking. And while JCU took advantage of Curtis and Cramer had issues and Klump was a non-factor - can we truly say the replacements are an upgrade? They were manhandled by Marietta (who was destroyed by JCU and didnt fare well in their bowl game), manhandled by Otterbein, and pushed around by the Muskies.
I get looking on the upside on the changes since their last meeting - but lets not ignore that it hasnt changed much.
I LOATHE JCU. I despise them with every fiber of my being - going all the way back to debate club and Model UN when I was an undergrad at Hiram. However, I dont feel good (at all) about the next Raider v. Streak matchup. Thank god - my wine club shipped me a case of wine for the holidays. I have a feeling I may need it. Roll Raiders (please dear God) ~ Roll!

Quote from: J3FB2BB on November 18, 2024, 08:25:52 PMAre you talking about BW here?  Listen, nobody dislikes BW more than me, but they did play Witt OOC.  That is not a weak OOC opponent even in a down year for Witt.  And it's certainly not Franklin or Hiram or some of the other OAC OOC foes.

Quote from: Whitecarrera on November 18, 2024, 08:16:25 AMYes, but Hardin-Simmons would be in on their merits, regardless of conference. 5-5 is a different story.
Like it or not, tournament access for all members is one of the cornerstone tenants of DIII. Alfred State will most likely get blown out in their first game, but they rightfully earned their spot to play in that game
