I had to watch the Rowan MSU game from my cell this weekend while at a wedding LOL...A win is a win, being in tough games like this, overcoming some errors and going 50 yards for a score is a major confidence booster for this team, Rowan is very good football team and we can build off of this, cannot look past Willy P, this cannot be a trap game. I gotta be honest, our RB might be one of the best in the Country, you can't get a clean shot on this kid no matter what and when you think he is down, he comes out of a pile and rushes for a TD...Montclair used to take cut ups of the game's best plays and put together a two min highlight film to post on their youtube page, I wish they still did, because if they did, you would be able to see this play, it was the go ahead TD, just some type of inside zone read, he runs into the pile, gets swallowed from what seemed to be the entire Rowan defense and all of the sudden appears past a sea of Yellow and runs in for a score.

Salisbury up 21-7, their offense is powerful, Montclair can play with this team, very impressed by the refs in this game, just bc they run a tripple option does not make it ok to chop block, they aren't playing dirty, not at all but they cut from all angles, that's what they do and the refs have been doing a very good job at calling it when it is not legal. Montclair has opportunities on offense, a few penalties stalled drives. We get the ball at the half and need to score...

I'm calling for the upset on this one, obviously lol....Let's go Red Hawks, sound assignment football, option teams put the ball on the turf, when they do, we must capitalize!

Take a look at this article which was written about my former coach at MSU, talking about 9/11-I will never forget it, I was a freshmen in college at Montclair State, first week of class, intro to political science, a student walked into the class late and told the teacher that we are under attack, as soon as that happened everyone's phone started to ring and out in the quad which is in the middle of the school where all of the students walk, was a little chaotic, people running, talking on the phone frantically and everyone making there way to the East Side of Campus, you can see the New York City Skyline from campus and especially from the Freshman Dorm, Bohn Hall. We stood there and saw the second building come down, it was horrible!!!

The phones didn't work, no one was able to get in touch with their loved ones, everyone was crying, praying and very scared, we (football players) all kind of migrated to our coaches office down at the field and just kind of sat around in silence and said a few prayers, me personally it was hours before I was able to get in touch with my Mom, Dad and Sister, I can't recall if we practiced that day but we were there for a while (the field house) panzer gym. I remember walking around campus with my head down because I did not want to look up and see the cloud of smoke, I got in my car drove to my parents in West Orange and we all went to the Highlawn Pavilion which is at the top of Eagle Rock Avenue and looks over NYC, the place was packed with people, praying and crying, it was so unbelievably said.

I heard we were the only team that played football that Saturday but I cannot say for sure, but I do know that bus ride to Brockport was just quite and the game was eerie, I can't describe it, was just odd, it was quite, the fans quite, even after the win, no no emotion, I felt like I was walking in the woods by myself, like spooked or something, after the win, we all took a knee, held hands and coach G gave a speech, an emotional speech and that's the only time I ever saw him cry. The ride home, you could hear a pin drop, we got back to campus everyone just kind of hugged it out and went back to their dorms or home to their parents. For weeks I just always made it a point to walk around campus with my head down so I didn't have to see the smoke, Montclair is with no traffic about 15 mins out of NYC and sits on a hill, the big cloud was just a constant and made it a point to keep the curtains down so I couldn't see it from my dorm room in Bohn Hall.

Never lose interest in the Red Hawks, sometimes we have our down years, but are never out! Coach G at the helm we always have a shot, you have been our biggest supporter for way to long, we need ya buddy!!!!!

there are a few younger d lineman I am really hoping step up to the plate, bc they are big, athletic and I am sure can make a contribution, next week will be no easy feat but may I remind you of my senior year, 2006 we went to Salisbury, they were ranked 3rd in the Country and we beat them and you know what the deciding factor was, special teams. If all three sides of the ball play smart football and defense plays assignment football against the option, we can win this game and put MSU back on the map!

Stopped by Montclair State yesterday to watch their scrimmage, not bad, they have a good mix of vets and some younger potential studs at some key positions. If they can put it all together, I would certainly not rule out them making some serious noise this year.

Just wanted to write down a quick share that after 33 years of dedication to Montclair State football and baseball teams our beloved rock of a coach, the glue, the backbone, Coach Richard O'Conner has announced his retirement, one hell of a man, more than a coach, a mentor, congratulations coach and thank you!!!!!
